I had no idea people hated beets. I'll take them off your plate any day. I firmly believe anyone who hates octopus hasn't had it the right way: grilled with a glass of ouzo while sitting with your feet in the sand as a gentle, warm breeze tickles your skin, still salty from a swim in the Aegean. DH loves gizzards. There was a spot at Pike Place Market he always bought them, but more recently he can only find them at truck stop gas stations (Love's on the I10 if you're looking). He's also a big fan of tripe and gets the whole dish to himself at dim sum. He was thrilled when another tripe loving friend introduced him to menudo.

Rutabagas. I never knew they existed until I met DH. His family served them on Thanksgiving. None of our kids like them, but our oldest grandson loves them.

Mashed rutabagas are a traditional Thanksgiving dish for us, too. IMHO they belong right next to the mashed potatoes. Now that you've discovered them, add some rutabaga to your next beef stew. I threw some in once, and am disappointed with every beef stew since that doesn't have them.

I really love a lot of things mentioned. I don't have too many things I won't eat, but I don't think I'd do gizzards and I hate sardines.
I miss the liver and onions my grandmother would eat. I was the only other one in the family who would eat it and I loved it.

It seems to me there is a lot of beet hate in this world and I just don't understand it. How in the world can you not love beets?? I adore them and would eat them every day if I could. I've tried beets in many forms - they taste like dirt every time. Blechy!

I'm obsessed with olives (any kind) and pickles. I love oysters, crawfish, stinky cheese, and sushi. I enjoy black licorice, the strong flavored jelly beans (black, white, some reds) and very sour candy. Oh and cabbage and rye bread. I have eaten and enjoyed rattlesnake, turtle (in turtle soup), and alligator.
I'm sure there is more! There are lots of foods I am strongly opposed to eating or even smelling but just as many that I eat that others don't like.

How are they cooked? (This is new to me.) I believe they are fried. We have a local chain that sells them, it's their *signature dish*

I'm going to stand on this bench with you, I love Necco wafers!! I don't think there is anything I really like that most people hate. I'm a pretty picky eater. I know there are things I hate that most people love, green/red/yellow peppers...just yuck, but that's just one example.

I like several varieties of Campbell's canned soup. Some people turn their noses at any and all canned soup. I though, don't care what other people think and happily eat my soup.

I think beets are one of those things you that you need to have cooked properly to appreciate. I hate the canned ones I had as a kid, but then discovered roasted beets, and eating them is like eating candy. Brussels sprouts too - those mushy, frozen ones of my childhood are awful. But roasting fresh ones, yum!

Liver & onions, braunschweiger, anchovies. I didn't know anyone could dislike harmless, sugary Necco wafers. I think they've stopped making them anyway, so all of you haters win!

The one thing I like that I haven’t found anyone else in person who likes It too is the brown Norwegian cheese, it comes in a cube with a red wrapper, It looks like smooth peanut butter and it is delicious

They have to be the most horrible candy ( ?) Who would even think to make chalk discs and sell them as "candy?" I saw them last year in small packages with the Halloween candy I could not imagine what kind of monster would pass those out to unsuspecting children.

And I'm from New England...you'd think I'd be a little more nostalgic about the nasty little discs now that they closed the factory down. But I'm not. I hated those things (although my little grandson loves them so much ).

Funny story about beets. I don’t really care for them but if you invited me over for supper I wouldn’t turn them away.
So my mother in law came by last month so freakin excited to find canned beets at a store a few towns over. I guess our local stores don’t carry them. She was so excited she gave me a can. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that her son wouldn’t touch them so I took the can and put it away. Later my husband asked me why the heck we had beets in the cupboard. So I told him how excited his mom was and I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Like she genuinely bought beets to share with her family. I thought it was cute.
