spam. there, i said it.
DH used to say "how can you eat that stuff?" and i'd play it off by saying "I'm PMSing and i'm craving salt". it worked until i had a hysterectomy and can't use the PMS defense anymore. he still asks how i can eat that stuff and now i just say "cuz i like it".

I love olives, pickles, beets, green beans, brussel sprouts, and peas.
I do not like sweet potatoes, fennel, or pungent cheeses.

Apparently, beets... not the kind from a can, I like them roasted.
I wish there was a food I liked that no one else in my house liked so I'd have it all to myself. So far I haven't found it.
I used to can green beans as a summer job, and really haven't liked them since then... something about the smell and seeing millions of cans of them for 12 hours a day. We also canned beets but I wasn't on that line... I'm sure the people that were hate the color purple, beets were messy!

I too cannot stand olives. I spent 10 minutes picking every last piece out of an otherwise delicious salad last night. On the other hand, there is nothing like a good chopped liver on rye to this *good Jewish girl.* Both my mom and sister used to make it occasionally. I miss both of their cooking - I generally don’t like to cook. Not the original poster about them - but I grew up eating both regular liver and all the giblets in the bag from a turkey or chicken. And when I was in Tulsa in September, we went to this local restaurant that mostly everything on the menu was fried. And in the app section was fried chicken livers. OMG I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!! The place was called Brothers Houligan I think. And to answer the OP - love me some olives (tapenade is my new favourite snack) - and I grew up on liver and onions at least once a week. SO good! But my kids won't go near it. I'll order it when I'm out for dinner sometimes to get my fix!

I love Mary Jane candy (aka those orange and black wrapped peanut butter taffies). Turns out my FIL is a big fan of them too. He’s the only other person I’ve heard that liked them.

Good chopped Liver. Regular liver is disgusting, though. Also, Gefilte fish. I don't love it, but it's fine. Most people can't stand it.

For those of you (like me) who LOVE olives, here's a yummy recipe. I cut down on the butter and don't coat it in the nuts. Delicious!
Olive Cheese Ball
1 pkg Philly cream cheese 1 stick butter ½ c. chopped black olives ½ c. chopped green olives ½ c. fine shredded cheddar ¼ finely chopped green onions 1 small pkg chopped almonds or pecans
Add all ingredients except nuts in a small bowl and let sit long enough for the butter and cream cheese to soften. Mix all ingredients together. Form into a ball and roll in nuts to coat. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Fried chicken livers. None that I make, gross. But once in a blue moon, I love to stop at this little convenience store and grab a small order for my lunch. With hot sauce. Beef liver? Won't touch it. Where do you live where you can pick this up?!? I craved it when I was pregnant with my son almost 30 years ago and would cook it with bacon and onion once a week. Grossed my poor husband out to even gave it in the house (he wouldn’t eat it) so once my oregnsncy was over I never cooked it as an entree again. Though it is the *secret* ingredient in my turkey stuffing and everyone raves

I think I’ll give it a try for the appetizer I need to being to a Halloween party. Any tips on favorite crackers that go with it?

Sadly, I eat almost everything. I love beets, Brussels sprouts, all kinds of greens, mushrooms, olives, fried chicken livers, calamari, marrow bones, raw oysters, liver sausage, pickled herring, stinky cheeses, all squashes, eggs with runny yolks .... am I forgetting anything? Oh, dark meat chicken. I’m the only person I know who reaches for the leg and thigh at dinner. Breast meat has no flavor!
(I draw the line at giblets other than the chicken liver. No heart or gizzard. I’ve never tried beef tongue or tripe and don’t really want to. Oh and no kidneys or brains.)
Major disappointment at my new job: this school sits right where the Asian part of town meets the Middle Eastern and Indian parts of town. There are more amazing ethnic restaurants in the area than you could eat at in a year. My new colleagues, however, don’t like any “weird” food, so when we have time to go out for lunch, they want Panera or La Madeleine or Bullritos. Ick. I want someone to go for Pakistani food with me!

But before I write it off completely I should probably at least try it. Before I went vegan I loved peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, so salted watermelon might be a mild flavor challenge😉.

There is nothing mentioned on this thread that I would not eat. I’ve never had Colcannon (but it sounds delish) or the Norwegian cheese, but I’d definitely try it. I also prefer canned green beans to fresh. Weird.

Love it! I've never had a cheese I didn't like. I refuse to try chocolate cheese though. I love Brussels sprouts. Do people who hate beets like carrots at all? To me they taste almost the same except beets are a tad sweeter.

Those little wienies in the can. Vienna sausages Thank you, I had a brain cramp and could not remember. I could see the can, but the words were not there. I don't buy them very often but when I do, I like to eat them with plain saltine crackers.
