Creamed herring. Love it, was raised on it. My family can't stand it.

My mom put salt on watermelon and canteloupe. The salty/sweet combo is actually really good. I don’t know...that sounds iffy to me 😬😁. But before I write it off completely I should probably at least try it. Before I went vegan I loved peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, so salted watermelon might be a mild flavor challenge😉. It is hard to find a really good-tasting, sweet watermelon (at least around here). I find adding salt brings out some of the flavor when you can't find good watermelon. If it's sweet & flavorful, then I don't "need" salt. It's been about 4 years since I had a really good slice of watermelon, back when we were at the beach at a seafood buffet. I remember when I was a kid that some people would put salt on an apple. It was okay, but I prefer the natural flavor of an apple.

I love apples but will admit that my favorite way to eat them is with caramel dipping sauce. It's a weakness I can't get past. I bought some Banana Apples when we were in PA last week and they were just screaming for my caramel dip.

Conversely, everyone thinks I’m crazy because I don’t drink tequila. I got really really trashed on it once in high school and got so sick that if I smell it now it makes me gag. I'm right there with you! I have a physical reaction to even the smell. My stomach rolls and I have a watery mouth like I'm going to be sick. I did a "challenge" with a guy to see who could do more shots of tequila at a frat party my first year in college, and ended that night by having my stomach pumped. Several people have tried to get me to have a margarita, and when I say why I don't do tequila, they're like "oh, that was like 25 years ago". I'll stick to a nice fruity cocktail with vodka or rum, thanks.

There was a story in the news about shutting down the company that made Necco wafers due to sanitation violations

Liver And braunshwagger. I don’t know how to spell that and neither does auto correct! Ha!! Oh I love that too! I had to look up the spelling....braunschweiger. lol! I loved it growing up. I tried it as an adult and didn’t care for it. I think I researched it before I tried it again. Lol

Gross! That sounds so disgusting 🤢 My mom put salt on watermelon and canteloupe. The salty/sweet combo is actually really good. We put salt on watermelon, lemons and tomatoes. My grandmother put salt on my orange once and I couldn’t eat them again for a long, long time

I love canned lima beans. I also like liver and onions and I love green olives with pimentos inside. In fact as a child I used to get my own jar in my Christmas stocking.
I do not eat many common foods and have lots of food aversions, so people think it is funny I eat those usually despised foods and love them! (I don't eat ketchup, mustard, relish, pickles, yogurt, most vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, peas except snow peas), mushrooms, and beets... I now love it but I did not have spaghetti sauce or cheese on a burger until I was an adult)
I would not eat necco wafers or black licorice.

For those of you (like me) who LOVE olives, here's a yummy recipe. I cut down on the butter and don't coat it in the nuts. Delicious! Olive Cheese Ball 1 pkg Philly cream cheese 1 stick butter ½ c. chopped black olives ½ c. chopped green olives ½ c. fine shredded cheddar ¼ finely chopped green onions 1 small pkg chopped almonds or pecans Add all ingredients except nuts in a small bowl and let sit long enough for the butter and cream cheese to soften. Mix all ingredients together. Form into a ball and roll in nuts to coat. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Sounds delicious! I think I’ll give it a try for the appetizer I need to being to a Halloween party. Any tips on favorite crackers that go with it? I like it with Triscuit Thin Crisps, but I guess I've never really thought about it. The only suggestion I DO have is to make a little food marker to go with it, indicating that it's an olive cheese ball. People who dislike olives seem to REALLY dislike olives!

Beets, I love them and based on a friend's Facebook plea for recipes half of the people said to trash them.

I don’t like much of anything. I’m a really picky eater. That said, I still like so many things of my childhood. Black licorice, Neccos, green olives with the pit and Totino’s pizzas. 😳

Vegemite. LOL - especially living in the US, I'm in good company back home. Every time my husband sees it in the cupboard, he hides it so he doesn't have to look at it.

LOL I detest Necco Wafers, though. They're really awful, and like a cruel candy joke. They taste like the toothpaste that gets stuck in the lid and hardens after its dried.
My husband wanted to leave out a bucket of them one Halloween, with a "Take one only" note, but I told him we'd get our house toilet papered every year for a nasty trick like that.

It seems to me there is a lot of beet hate in this world and I just don't understand it. How in the world can you not love beets?? I adore them and would eat them every day if I could. I do actually like beets, but I find them a bit well..disappointing in this country. Back home we put sliced beetroot on lots of things, and its vinegary and juicy and tasty. The beets I've had here aren't as vinegary or juicy. I'll have to look for some, I'm sure there are some that'll revive my beet faith.
