They have to be the most horrible candy ( ?) Who would even think to make chalk discs and sell them as "candy?" And I'm from New England...you'd think I'd be a little more nostalgic about the nasty little discs now that they closed the factory down. But I'm not. I hated those things (although my little grandson loves them so much ). Necco wafers have been around since 1847. The few Civil War reenactors that I know carry Necco wafers with them because that is what the civil war soldiers carried with them. WWI soldiers also carried them. The company has been bought by Spangler Candy Company based in Ohio. The company has said that the wafers will be back in production by next year.

It's been forever since I had it, BUT I loved a slice of spam fried on a toasted piece of white bread with a smidgen of mustard.
I love Mary Jane candy (aka those orange and black wrapped peanut butter taffies). Do people who hate beets like carrots at all? To me they taste almost the same except beets are a tad sweeter. Hate carrots too. I can handle them better if they are very small in a salad or stew.

Major disappointment at my new job: this school sits right where the Asian part of town meets the Middle Eastern and Indian parts of town. There are more amazing ethnic restaurants in the area than you could eat at in a year. My new colleagues, however, don’t like any “weird” food, so when we have time to go out for lunch, they want Panera or La Madeleine or Bullritos. Ick. I want someone to go for Pakistani food with me! No one in my house eats curry. in any form. I'm happy to try ethnic cuisine!

When I was near a Trader Joe's, I tried their sauerkraut with dill pickles. DIVINE! Couldn't find any here, and as soon as I can get someone to help me open the jar (so far, it isn't budging) I hope to see if just adding dill pickle to sauerkraut on my plate will come close. I wish there was a food I liked that no one else in my house liked so I'd have it all to myself. So far I haven't found it. I have the opposite problem. Too many things that I'm the only one who will eat it. That's downright tragic! I don't say that lightly, either. I think I'd be packing my Kindle and heading off to new adventures on my own if no one else wanted to come... that's how big a deal it is. My mom put salt on watermelon and canteloupe. The salty/sweet combo is actually really good. I like salt on grapefruit. My mother used to add sugar as if it was a treat! (It wasn't for me.) I learned to try to be a step ahead of her whenever I knew she was serving grapefruit at a meal. Sauerkraut. And beets - I never knew there were so many beet haters! I looooove a roasted beet salad with goat cheese. Sometimes I even have it for breakfast! Beets with goat cheese is SO good. And right now, I have a brand new jar of sauerkraut with beets to try.

Candy Corn. Brach’s valentines hearts (but only the white and orange ones, i throw away the rest) I used to love Vienna Sausages until I ate a bad can and wound up in the hospital for 4 days with E. coli. Bad times. I still like them but am scared to eat them.
Conversely, everyone thinks I’m crazy because I don’t drink tequila. I got really really trashed on it once in high school and got so sick that if I smell it now it makes me gag.

haven't read most of the thread yet, but I do like Necco wafers... if they're fresh and not stale. (have you ever seen the entire rolls of chocolate ones? My mom loves those...) I hadn't heard that they're coming back into production, so that's good.
I didn't know that candy corn was so hated; I do like it, but only at Halloween. It's sugar overload otherwise. (I also like the fall mallow-creme mix they used to make with the different colored candy things- the pumpkins tasted like candy corn, the bats were chocolate flavored, the ears of corn were banana (?), and the tan leaves were maple flavored. I saw a bag of mixed shapes, but I think the flavors were updated to salted caramel and something else... ick.
I like anise-flavored candy-- black jelly beans and anise-flavored hard candies. (I actually do NOT like black licorice, however.)
one more-- I actually like Cadbury creme eggs- I'm not sure whether most people like them or not, but they sure do make/sell a lot of them-- I've never met anyone else who likes them, though! I can only eat a few of them before I hit sugar overload, too.

The one thing I like that I haven’t found anyone else in person who likes It too is the brown Norwegian cheese, it comes in a cube with a red wrapper, It looks like smooth peanut butter and it is delicious "Brunost", there are several different ones.

I do like beef tongue. clams,
I grew up with Ski Queen Gjetost.. it is Brunost. (caramel brown goats/cow cheese).. my dad eats it in sandwiches, and I love it with fruit and wine.. apples, pears, grapes. etc. when I was in norway, I found they ate it with waffles...weird.. but I love that cheese.. in norway, they had it available in sandwich slices in the grocery store.

Eggplant, Brussels sprouts, snails. When I was living in Montreal, I used to order a pizza from a local place with eggplant and snails. It was amazingly good and the best part is I never had to share. As for foods that I love that most people hate - roll mops.

I like so many things other people find gross. Fried liver (beef and chicken), chicken gizzards, olives, black licorice, goat and feta cheese, octopus/squid, canned sardines, oysters, seaweed. Not I but my DH will eat just about anything including what you have mentioned plus he also does not mind the occasional serve of fried lambs brains! I buy them, I cook them but I don't eat them!

Peas - absolutely can't stand them. When I was little I would sneak them to the dog or go to the bathroom with a mouth full to flush down the toilet.
Have promised both of my grandkids that they will never ever have to eat Peas at my house. Yuck!!

I'm not a fan of beets -- they don't taste anything like carrots to me. They have a distinct flavor of dirt. ETA: I originally was going to ask who goes to a gas station for chicken livers? That sounds so odd to me! What on earth would make you consider buying something like that from a gas station?

I will eat all of the above excepting most organ meats.
The exception: love chicken livers (always part of sunday breakfast as a child) and now chicken pate with a glass of wine for my weekly meeting with a friend.
I also love raw kibbee (yes raw meat) and steak tartare. Most people won't touch it.
and
My version of the olive spread
cream cheese 8 oz or can double this stick of butter 4 oz bleu cheese 1/2 cup (or more) chopped olives splash of Worcestershire
great on crackeers
or dilute with milk a use as (ruffles) chip dip
pure addiction

I much prefer the caramel ones. I'm vegetarian so lots of these foods are not on my menu anyway. But I LOVE olives, and hummus, and all vegetables except cauliflower, unless it's covered in melted cheese. Actually most things covered in melted cheese are better. I hate ginger. It's taken my mum 35 years to realise this. I don't like fennel, aniseed or licorice. Also I don't like goats cheese which makes eating out as a veggie quite tough sometimes. Before I was vegetarian, and I still sometimes crave them, I loved deep fried whitebait which is a tiny fish deep fried whole. Eyes and everything. And as a child I ate rabbit and I rmemeber really liking it.

There is a fish like that here in the US, too: smelt. it's caught only at a certain time of the year when it comes up very near the lakeshore (when it's mating season, maybe, IIRC?). It's deep fried, and you eat the whole thing. Yum! you can't find it very many places at all... when we lived in the Chicago suburbs we found a really small neighborhood bar that actually had smelt on the menu- we were both so happy to see that!
