Delta Dawn totally ok! I do because, you know, different yarn weights and hook sizes, more or less complicated patterns, small portable projects to travel with, large stay-at-home projects... Variety is the spice of life after all! Does that mean I can go shopping for more yarn or no? Maybe just a bit? For motivation purposes.

I currently have 9 crochet WIPs! I’m aiming to complete all of those - at least a couple this month, three if I can. Out of the 9, three are full size blankets, one baby blanket, and the rest are wraps/scarves/shawls. My Nuts About Squares blanket has been in hibernation for a long time - I just haven’t felt ready to tackle the blocking I need to do before joining the squares! Mainly due to the space & time needed. But I really do want to see it finished, so that’s high on my priority list. I don’t mind having a few WIPs on the go at a time for variety, but I want to keep it down to 3 or 4, so it will be a while before I can start anything new. I have my first new project ready to go, as I took advantage of a sale to buy the yarn I need. It will be a cardigan for me - my first garment. After that, I have a couple of ideas, but nothing concrete. DH suggested that I should make a blanket to use as a wall-hanging - never mind that we don’t have any wall space for such a thing! - in maybe a Native American style. That lead to me showing him the Indiana design, and from there the Havana, and he really liked a scarf we saw done in the Havana pattern, so I’d like to do that for him. Other than crochet, I want to do a bit more cross stitch this year. Again I have bunch of WIPs, so I’d just be working towards completion rather than starting anything new. That’s probably more than enough to be going on with unless I win the lottery and can retire! Is it ok to have multiple crochet projects going at once? An afghan, dishcloth, shawl and more? Asking for a friend. (I am bored with the Afghan...) Uhm... isn’t it required? LOL

Oh so many lovely things! I can’t remember who has done what and I usually make a pig’s ear of quoting so I will say I’m so glad someone has done the Ubuntu. I’ve loved seeing them appear on Facebook. I love the patchwork’s too. Both are gorgeous.
Who has joined the embroidery course on Facebook? I did because I want to get back to basics but some of the things people already have experience with seem quite intimidating!

I have, but I'll be honest that I'm getting cold feet. Tons of supplies here, but can't find a design that I want to do. Have you decided on a sampler design yet?

I finished a pair of socks right before I started the Attic 24 Sweet Pea blanket. They're lovely and warm!

I have a couple of ideas, neither are very ambitious. I don’t even have suitable fabric yet, what I have is Aida and I want a cotton/linen mix I think. I do have two small designs that came with a seasonal mystery box I subscribe to; they supply the thread, material with a printed design and a small hoop to frame the finished piece. I’ve not really fancied either of the designs on those but they may be suitable as a start. I joined the group more for inspiration and getting back to basics as it’s many years since I embroidered. What I want to make at some point are embroidered embellished (beads, ribbon work) patches to make into a small item like a cushion cover and I hoped I’d get tips for that. I wasn’t necessarily planning on following the course on a weekly/monthly basis. I’ve been wondering if I’m in the right place! Have you looked on Pinterest for some ideas of a sampler?

gillyp may I ask if you have seen a site called crafty attic? It specialises in ribbon embroidery but has wonderful ideas for embellished work and crazy parchwork etc. The lady does great videos on U-tube and is lovely to listen to as well. www.craftyattic.com

Just a look at their home page shows me they will be interesting to look through. I have a nice book on ribbon embroidery but YouTubes would be much more easy to follow.

Happy New Crafting Year everyone! Thank you for starting this wellway! I've been lost without the craft thread - I didn't have the courage to start one myself! And it looks as though loads of other people felt the same way as we're on page 2 already. I need to read properly and comment. I went to our monthly crop yesterday and made 15? 14? new cards out of previously received Christmas cards. I still have some glittering and embellishing to do, but that was very satisfying. We'll be taking the Christmas decorations down later so I'll have some more cards to play with.

Asking for a friend. (I am bored with the Afghan...) Haha! Tell your friend that yes it is absolutely OK to have multiple WIPs in crochet, because you can use the same hook for other projects without losing stitches as you would with knitting. But just make a note with each project which size hook you were using for each WIP, and where to find the original pattern - because no matter how you think you will remember, you WON'T! Don't ask me how I found this out...

And drumroll please...... here’s my first finish of 2019 (Ok, there are still a bunch of ends to weave in, but you can’t see those lol) As soon as I laid it out one of the cats came for an inspection: Colours are so much nicer in real life, I might re-photograph in summer lol! Just stunning! How lucky your cats are to have something to beautiful to play with!

I can never tag on my phone, but man, you crafty and talented ladies make me want to make things!! I spent some quiet time at home working on my English paper piecing quilt. I started it a few years ago. It’s a slow stitching process. These flowers are just the centres of the blocks, I need to add more hexies around them still, but this is what I’ve made this year. http://instagr.am/p/BsN7Sf2Hm7T When the blocks are done they will be diamond-shaped, like these: http://instagr.am/p/BXf7iQ3hud9 It's going to be gorgeous!!!

I made these photo cubes for my family for Christmas. Now that they are finished, I can keep working on several crochet projects. I’m making a Snuggle This Muggle blanket in bobble stitch for my dgc that is due in early June. I am going to attempt the Sweet Pea cal from Attic 24. I love to colors. Depending on on the gender of the new baby, I may be asked to make a Yoda robe or blanket for the new baby. I crochet very slowly, so I need to get busy!

Knitting socks is one of my lifetime crafty goals. I have fond memories of spending time around my great-aunt’s kitchen table to the sound of her daughter’s needles, always working on a pair. And, your colour choices are amazing!

It’s been a goal of mine to learn to knit, so I bit the bullet and took a Beginning Knitting class at Joann’s yesterday. I think I’m getting the hang of it; the instructor was very encouraging and patient, so the time just flew by. I’m already enrolled in the first of her knit-along classes next week that teach a new pattern each month. The idea is to make a block a month to combine for a complete blanket at the end of the year.
AND, a friend of mine has been working with a loom knitting group that makes hats and scarves for the homeless and women’s shelters in town. When she heard that I’m learning to knit, she invited me to join this group, so I will be joining them monthly as well. I’m so excited to expand my repertoire beyond crocheting. As soon as I get some completed projects, I will post pictures. Wish me luck!

I finished this quilt yesterday for a friend. She sent me the fabric and a pattern she liked and I had the wonderful task of cutting and sewing 290 triangles. 😁 The pattern was not the best so there was a lot of trial and error on my end but I’m fairly pleased with the end product. and I finally got to sew a binding that I’m actually proud of. I guess practice really does make (almost) perfect. I’m now working on cutting out fabric to make a quilt for myself and I’m very excited.

heathers it's beautiful! And aren't you kind to make it for a friend. I give a lot of my creations away but I have started saying no to requests. It's very tough. My sister wants all the things.

Then it's on to complete my second Eastern Jewel blanket. Both of these are drop dead gorgeous. Don't mind me, I'm going to sit here and work on my temperature blanket in HDC and make some charity hats, lol.

My first finished project of 2019. It was supposed to be done for the Christmas season but you know how it is... How delightfully cosy and Christmassy! I saw a pattern very similar to that for a Christmas cardigan/jacket in blocks, but she'd designed it with 6 snowflakes on the back, and just two snowflakes on the front, one over each breast. I just couldn't do it!
