Have you seen the tweet from freshman AOC re: the new green deal? She seems to think rather highly of herself. Guess I should just shut up since she’s the boss @@. I don’t think she’ll have any friends in Washington if she keeps this up.

I haven't seen the tweet, but I think that when a woman says is described as "too big for her britches" or "full of herself", it's the usually the same thing as a man being called "confident". What's wrong with a new Congresswoman being confident and expressing new ideas? What we've got going now is not working -- let's hear all the ideas we can!
ETA: now that someone has posted the actual tweet, I really don't see why you're calling her a toddler. Seriously. She's putting ideas out there and trying to enact change. Nothing wrong with that -- like I said, the actual real-life crap that is going on right now needs some heavy-duty new ideas. She's putting them out there trying to fix actual problems. Whether they work or don't work remains to be seen, but "toddler" they ain't. You may disagree, but I'll take you seriously when you use your big words.

She is a bit of a bull in the china shop.
Dan Crenshaw is another who thinks he's hot stuff.

You don’t have to like her or agree with her but I am sick and goddamn tired of people talking about her like she’s a child. JFC she’s a grown woman who was rightfully elected. Speak of her as such, not like your bratty neighbor child.

I wonder if the same would be said about her britches if she was a man. Probably not. I never seem to hear about Trump being too big for his, no matter what he says or does. When he tweets ridiculous shit about how whatever he's doing is the best, the biggest, the most, he's called "confident".

Speak of her as such, not like your bratty neighbor child. Her tweet was incredibly childish. Her plan, from what I’ve seen, is not the equivalent of a 4-year-old asking for a pony, but instead asking for a unicorn. She has no reasonable plan for making it work, just assuming it will because she says so. And when called out for the lack of research and preparation, she tells everyone she’s the boss so shut up. So... teenage egocentric behavior, toddler temper tantrum, preschooler view of reality... yeah, a child.

I just perused her latest tweets and I’m not sure which specific one makes her “too big for her britches”. Could you clarify?
Also, I don’t think women in the Bronx and Queens wear “britches”.

Meh. I look at it as the enthusiasm of a freshman congresswoman. I’ve totally written off the Republican Party but I think the injection of the enthusiasm and fresh ideas of some of the new Democrats will be great for the party; I think there will be an exciting synergy between their ideas and those of the more pragmatic members of the party. At least Democrats recognize the reality of climate change whereas Trump is now setting up a panel to contradict the findings of most scientists on earth. And furthermore, I find her to be a very gifted speaker—very lucid. And second of all, Republicans, particularly Republican men, seem to find her very threatening, based upon the seeming unending coverage of her in the media—for things like dancing in college.

She is a bit of a bull in the china shop. this phrase brought to mind Donald Trump, honestly. if he got to 'learn' his way into office (and I don't think he's done it yet, personally) then why don't other incoming government officials get a grace period or a 'learning' period? Not a question for you specifically, Merge, just a general, more rhetorical question. And yeah, how often would we hear 'thinks rather highly of herself' being reversed to read 'he thinks rather highly of HIMSELF' ?? not very often.

She obviously pushes a lot of people's buttons just as Trump does. I don't think either of them has the maturity for the office to which they've been elected, and as I mentioned above, I think Dan Crenshaw is another one who thinks a bit too highly of himself. Getting insulted by Pete Davidson on SNL was possibly the best thing that ever happened to him, because before that, no one outside of Houston knew who he was. From making a 'documentary' full of false statements on the border, to publicly mansplaining border security to a female national security expert, to defending the NRA's most recent ad, he loves fomenting controversy to keep himself in the spotlight. We seem to be in a political era where larger-than-life personalities are more important than those dorky policy wonks who actually get stuff done. On both sides of the aisle. It's not going to benefit any of us in the long run.

And yet, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you start a thread to complain about Trump. Not even once. P.S. It would have been helpful if you’d posted the tweet in your OP. Doesn’t have to be the actual tweet, you could just provide the text of it so we’d know what you were talking about. But the actual text. Not a paraphrase. Thank you.

She's too big for her britches (like a toddler?) and yet the Mercers were moved to pay for a billboard in Times Square to ridicule her. The OP is unintentionally funny, kind of like one of Don Jr's self-own tweets.

The actual Tweet:
Yup. If you don’t like the #GreenNewDeal, then come up with your own ambitious, on-scale proposal to address the global climate crisis.
Until then, we’re in charge - and you’re just shouting from the cheap seats.
