I made a couple of bags I wanted a larger one to hold my pattern and notebook (I have to make a ton of notes when I'm knitting!!) as well as my project, so I did a tote style with handles instead of my usual drawstring.
I think this is going to be a gift
This is my Kindness shawl, it still needs blocking and the ends weaving in.
A little close up of the lace I loved knitting this bit.
Really beautiful projects this month everyone.

lainey! These bags are beautiful! I LOVE the first one, but love the functionality of the drawstring top in the second. I am having a really hard time finding a bag to keep my current CAL things in, that my 2 year old can't get into. Currently have all of my yarn and squares shoved in a closet on a high shelf. PITA to go back and forth, but after him unwinding a skein something needed to be done lol I don't think he has figured out drawstring yet, I am going to have to look for a bag that has that. And that shawl is beautiful!!! The lace is stunning.

CAL ladies... have you started the new squares yet? For the first time ever, I finished my squares from last week in time for the new patterns to be released. So last night I had about 30 minutes free before bed, so turned on Audible and sat down to start on the new squares. Ended up shutting off Audible & gave the dog a treat to leave me alone, and struggled with the treble crochet for some reason. I kept getting myself confused. I am going to have to frog what I did last night, again, and start over, again. Ug.

Thank you The drawstring bags are really easy to make if you're into sewing.

It was a *really* bad day here yesterday (had to call 911 on my son), so I didn’t get around to crochet until late in the baseball game. I got one of the North Star squares done, but that was it. YAY! For you for getting all last week’s squares done already! See, you are getting much better so quickly. I am impressed!

CAL ladies... have you started the new squares yet? For the first time ever, I finished my squares from last week in time for the new patterns to be released. I am still working on #4 of the bud squares. So if you're counting that still puts me more than a week behind. Yay! Though for you keeping up this week. That's awesome. I wanted a larger one to hold my pattern and notebook (I have to make a ton of notes when I'm knitting!!) as well as my project, so I did a tote style with handles instead of my usual drawstring.
The open bag is my favorite style but seriously the drawstring bag has the cutest print ever! I need a small crochet bag. I really ought to make myself one. I can sew well enough, it's just not my favorite task. It was a *really* bad day here yesterday (had to call 911 on my son), so I didn’t get around to crochet until late in the baseball game. Are you alright? Physically, emotionally? I'm so sorry about your day.

Thanks! He, sitting on the couch, kicked me hard enough to send me flying into the opposite wall, but didn’t do any serious damage. His ABA therapist was here and he was kicking her and pulling her hair too, which is why I called 911. He calmed down quickly once the police were in the house, so we didn’t have to go to the ER. He is in respite care tonight, thank heaven, so I am getting a mini-break from all of that.

I’m so sorry you went through that elaine. I hope the respite care is good for both of you but I realise it’s not that simple. Caring hugs to you.

I decided to tackle some binding that I’ve been struggling and really avoiding thinking about. It takes me about three tries to join up the bias binding ends, but I made lots of extra so I just keep cutting more and trying again. This is a lap size quilt, for my nephew. I pieced it using scraps leftover from the quilt I am working on for his parents, as their very belated wedding gift. I washed it, this is it wet. It was too dark to photograph after it came out of the dryer but I’ll take dry photos soon. Love that crinkle!! And... I am very very very close to being done my sister’s wedding quilt!! This is king sized, pieced on both the front and back (different patterns), and tonight I stitched down all the binding around the entire edge of the quilt. I’ve tried twice to join up the binding ends but messed up both, so I’m going to finish it later. I can’t wait to get this thing washed and out of here!!! I started it three years ago? Or more like four? Anyway. (The binding is kinda a yellowy lime green / wasabi colour irl).

ashley, I love the grey and white quilts and the binding colour you chose is very cool!
I had a tough time with the ends of the binding since I use to just butt the ends together but I found this video from Jenny at MSQC and have been getting much better results.

It's beautiful ashley! I am continually amazed at how straight and neat yours and **GypsyGirl** quilts are. I have always wanted to try my hand at a quilt. But I'm not sure I have the precision in me to pull it off. elaine, did a night off help you a bit? I finished the last bud square. So I am currently weaving in ends right now and since I'm at the halfway point, I will pause and block.

jeremysgirl - It's all about having the proper tools to get those seams straight. Starts with a good ruler and rotary cutter, then when sewing it helps to use a presser foot with a built in 1/4" guide. For the outer edges, a square ruler to square up the corners and a long ruler/rotary cutter to finish off the sides. You could absolutely do a quilt if you wanted to! ashley - Finishing off bindings was always a thorn in my side until I finally learned how by watching this video, Quilt Binding: Connecting the Ends. It's the same method that roundtwo mentioned, but this video shows her actually using a ruler (vs just eyeing it), and is much shorter. I needed the visual of the ruler being used to finally "get it". There are some who don't sew those ends together, but tuck one end inside the other. I have tried it but don't care for it. To me, it looks unfinished and adds extra bulk at the binding in the area where it is tucked in. Check out this video (tuck method) to see the difference. It's at 5:00 in the video.

Gypsy girl, that’s the exact same video I’ve been watching! I’m not sure how but I keep flipping one end the wrong way. I usually get it right on the third try. lol.

I GOT THE BINDING JOINED UP!! Now it’s sewn down on one side, I’m going to pour some whisky and glue baste it down to the front. Hoping I can take it to the laundromat this weekend to get it washed! I’m so excited. These are photos from a while ago after I finished the quilting, so no binding on yet, but you can see the front and back:
