I'm glad you found a way to make it work tyra . I'm on my second leaf square. No one is shocked I'm way behind, right? You are doing the bonus squares too right? If I were doing them I would be wayyyyyy behind you lol Yesterday I was trying to crochet a bit between cleaning/cooking/etc, getting ready for my ILs to come over. I set down my skein and square I was working on, walked into the kitchen to check on the food in the oven. I was out of the area for maybe 3 minutes. Now, we have an open floor plan so you can see straight into the family room from the kitchen. DH was sitting in there, 5 feet from where my stuff was. I glanced over for whatever reason, saw the 2yr old by where I was sitting on the couch- where my yarn was. Asked DH what DS was doing. Oh, he is playing with your yarn. Um... maybe stop him? By the time I got over there, my skein was ripped apart. DS had been jabbing the crochet needle into the skein, and pulling out strands. Looks like spaghetti now. Joy. DH tells me that maybe I should keep it where DS can't get it. I was less than thrilled. Yes. I should have put it up, which I do when I am not using it. But I figured it would be safe for a few minutes.

I painted a few rOCKs and hid most of them for Halloween. Had a girls scrapbook weekend Friday Saturday and Sunday. Finished a stand-up Christmas kid album, got quite a few pages done and completed Christmas albums for my brother, myself and all my mom's six grandchildren. They are made from Little Golden books The Night Before Christmas in honor/memory of my mom whose home we spent Christmas Eves throughout the years. The first and last inner page pocket will contain a favorite photo of her in her silly Yoda Santa hat with those distinct protruding ears. The first taken from the front and the last from the back as she was moving away from the camera. 💚♥️💚 I will also probably include the grandchildren group photos taken every year but will leave it up to them to include their favorite memories. I still have some embellishing to add but they're basically done, construction wise.

That happens at my house too. But an animal is the culprit. One day I came home and I had yarn wrapped all over my living room. Cats love it. I made the Babette blanket once. And I had all the squares on my living room floor so I knew where to sew each square in. I woke up the next morning to my old cat Rudy sitting a top a whole pile of squares like he was king of the world.

I am not loving the snowflake square. I am debating doing four of the gauge square instead, thoughts?

I am not loving the snowflake square. I am debating doing four of the gauge square instead, thoughts? I was bored to tears with both of last week’s squares - the snowflake and the leaves both. Yawn. I say make 4 out of the color in whichever pattern you’ve liked best.

as a non-crocheter I am oddly caught up in all of your progress. I guess it's the appreciation of the craft.

You will be doing your mega show post about all the beautiful quilts you saw, right? I don’t want to miss that! I plan on doing it again this year since so many seem to enjoy it. Tomorrow evening they will announce the winners of each category, as well as the big prizes. I am attending that and will take photos. I hope to start the thread tomorrow night. That's contingent on the outcome of Game 6 of the World Series. It's being played 1 block from where I will be. If the Astros win, I plan to be out celebrating in the streets with everyone else, like I did 2 years ago! In that case, the thread will start on Wed. sometime.

I love all the beautiful quilts and like to imagine what room I would display them. Right now I have a perfect room-If only I knew how!

I just looked and I am disappointed by this week's squares. They are so similar. Hmm...now I'm not quite sure what to do. What are you guys thinking? elaine tyra

I didn't mind them, only because it gave me more of a chance to practice. I just peeked at this weeks squares and I REALLY like them. Totally different than what we have done previously I think.

What are you guys thinking? elaine tyra The regular and bonus squares are completely similar. I actually had to look twice at them because I thought that they accidentally sent the same bonus/regular patterns. But I like them. I think the edges are so pretty. I am not sure that I would do both of them though, I might figure something else out for the bonus pattern, just to keep some variation. Though I wonder how everything will look when it is all together. Are they going to give suggestion on how to lay it all out? If so, I wonder if they have a plan on how to do that so there isn't too much repetition from similar patterns?

I am on my third leaf square right now.

I've restarted the Buccaneer shawl (the one I was making when my mum passed away) I keep remembering how excited she was when I was showing her the progress with the lace parts, she loved the pattern and the colours.
A few tears have gone in it to already but I'm determined to finish it and wear it and think of her. Despite the extreme difficulties of our relationship I miss her very badly.
Sorry to be a thread downer but I feel like this is my safe space with all of you.

The main differences being Clover is more solid in the center and has splits at the end of the leaves. Flower is more open in the center, but the petals aren’t split at the end. I do like the looks of the lacier rounds before the solid border. I’ll continue to go along with the patterns as she intended, but am glad that we are getting closer to joining. The squares aren’t holding my attention as much right now. I’m looking forward to the joining and the edging.

Take comfort from making your shawl; maybe you could drape it over a chair when you are not wearing it.

On a much happier note, I've been thinking about my projects for next year and had a little order from Wool Warehouse
I got -
3 balls each of the Drops Nord in Fog and Deep Ocean Mix to make All About That Brioche I'm looking forward to trying my hand at Brioche knitting.
2 balls each of the Drops Flora in Light Grey, Medium Grey and Dark Grey to make another Match and Move shawl. I know I said never again but I wear it all the time and I love it.
My husband bought me some Drops Lace in Powder Pink a while ago and I'd like to have a go at this Pastoral Lace Shawl
I'm thinking those four projects will probably take me all year!

lainey you are naughty. I clicked on all your links and although I don't think the Pastoral Lace Shawl came up, something did that I really love. I'm going to have to look further into it.

You are not a downer. I'm sure it is emotional for you. I hope that finishing it and wearing it brings you comfort. I am loving the All About Brioche shawl. Beautiful.

A few sneak peeks of Quilt Festival! The blue/white display is in honor of the 45th anniversary of QF Many years ago I was friends with a gal who owned a quilt store. I was able to go to strample spree, oops, sample spree, lectures and was able to purchase many things at wholesale prices. It was quite the experience.

lainey your shawls always make me swoon. I can never decide if I'm glad I don't know how to knit or crochet because of your enabling or if I should just suck it up and learn.

Losing your mum was so traumatic no matter what your relationship was like. Wear your shawl and be beautiful in it. Remember something nice your mum liked to do. My mum loved this one dog park. I remember taking her there all the time. Even just wear the shawl at home or to the store. There will be tears initially but they dry up and you can go about your life.

I wrote down the name of one of your shawls lainey to try and find someone to make it for me. The notepad is long gone but the memory of that beautiful blue shoulder shawl lives on.
