You bet @pascoepea. I think in my head I'm convinced you UK peas are all towards the west. I couldn't remember any of you in the extreme north or on the east coast.
Meeting a pea is always so fun. And after spending a month there, I have questions and comments galore.

I got this at Aldi, I'm very challenged when it comes to making hats but I couldn't resist that little pom pom
I wouldn't have been able to resist either and I still don't know how to knit or crochet. The pom pom just makes it.

You are talking about England, not the U.K. Sorry, when you said U.K. Peas I included myself but I think you meant English? Berwick is the most northerly English town, you need to travel north for about 320 miles to reach THIS U.K. Pea.

I do call you all the UK peas without thinking about where you actually live. That said, we are so jonesing to hit up Scotland for an extended visit. There was a piece of warm chocolate cake in Jedburgh that we talk about way too much and is fueling desires to see the country, particularly the north.

I haven't been doing much crafting this month so far. Been going through supplies to donate.
Friday is Fiber Friends at a local art gallery. Going to work on my crochet project again. For the first time since last Fiber Friends.
Saturday is another "Fun at Fairgrounds" craft workshop. I believe we are making a wreath, treat bag, and napkin holders. We maybe making fudge too. Not sure.
Tuesday is our library's first creative reuse class. I signed up. We are making journals out of paste board. That is what I have been getting supplies to donate to.

I met a Scottish quilter (from Huntly) in one of my classes this year and her quilting story was amazing. She had a quilt entered in the Houston show that won Best in Show at the Birmingham (UK) Festival of Quilts in 2018. She is a self taught quilter of just a few years, and that was the first quilt she had ever entered in a show. Talk about starting off with a bang! Her quilt didn't win here, but I did see it. Lovely pictoral quilt of a pink rose.

Small world, Huntley is where the ice cream I sell in the shop is manufactured. It’s a 4 hour drive from here yet they deliver by 10.30 am.

You'll have to keep coming back to get to all of us, we are pretty well scattered around! I'm in the south east, and craftykitten is further south again (off the mainland). I visited north Norfolk for the first time myself earlier this year and absolutely loved it, so I hope you had a good time there!

Wow, wow, wow, and LOVE the coloring. jeremysgirl, love the black and how it makes the colors pop in your gorgeous afghan! Everyone has some fun and different crafty things I haven't seen before either. Awesome work everyone. I hope to post something soon. jennyap, I probably could have hunted you down on this trip. I so wish I had posted before we left. But we will be back, we fell hard for that area. We had a fantastic trip. Maybe I'll make a post about it. lainey, Ireland is absolutely on our list. Dh is constantly looking at various trips there, but the timing hasn't been quite right. Now that he has retirement figured out, I'm sure it will happen. craftykitten, I was showing dh where you live and telling him about your bees. He is excited to check out your island.

I have a question for cross stitchers. It's a craft I've never taken up, but my sister does beautiful cross stitch. She has mailed me some small pieces to be made into Christmas ornaments, as well as a group to be made into a wall hanging. The wall hanging I have figured out. It's the ornaments that I'm not sure about. Can anyone here tell me if there are other steps I need to take? Do I need to back the cross stitch piece with backing/interfacing? Do I need to finish the edges once I cut them down in size? I'm a bit lost on how to begin these.
Thanks for any help with this, or pointing me in the right direction to find it online!

Although I cross stitch there will be someone far more able than I to advise but why not ask your sister what her expectations are and chat it through with her?

Although I cross stitch there will be someone far more able than I to advise but why not ask your sister what her expectations are and chat it through with her? Basically, her expectation is that I do it and it not cost her any money. This is the sister that showed up to our parents' funerals with a list of what she wanted, and expecting us to pay to ship it to her. Her idea of cross stitching gifts is to make the piece, then gift it to someone to deal with on their own. She included two fat quarters of very cheap quality fabric for the ornaments, and zilch for the wall hanging. Her idea is that I'll have something in my stash. While my stash is generous, my colors and hers are totally different (I'm modern and bright, these are early American looking with traditional colors). I knew when I offered to do this I'd regret it, but I've committed & purchased nice fabrics so I'll do the absolute best job I can. Then remind myself of this next time she wants a favor! Sorry to go off on your innocent (and good) suggestion! There's always a back story when family is involved isn't there!

This is the craft I made at our Newcomer's craft day. There were 20 of us and all our baskets turned out different. Most painted their pine cone tips in different colors but I wanted mine to look *snowy*. I'm going to add some more cones because I think it looks too bare. Wasn't happy with my lettering ~ should have done that at home where I could have planned it out instead of just writing it willy nilly. But DH liked it so there's that. If you click on the picture it will enlarge.

cadoodlebug I think it's adorable! And I agree with elaine that it would be perfect as a table centerpiece. I'm still plugging away at making squares. Work is sucking the life right out of me lately. But I'm coming up on a three day weekend so I'm looking forward to a lot of downtime to crochet. tyra and elaine how are you guys coming along?

But I'm coming up on a three day weekend so I'm looking forward to a lot of downtime to crochet. tyra and elaine how are you guys coming along? I'm finally done with all of the regular squares. Started the bonus ones that I didn't do tonight. Working on the wheat squares now, about halfway through the first one. DS is cuddled up next to me, watching The Grinch lol The animated one that came out last year, super cute and lots of funny parts. We have been alternating between this and Nightmare Before Christmas the past 2 or so weeks. 🤷♀️ My mom wanted to see what squares I had done last night, so I took this to show her. Not pictured is the last square of the last pattern, and the extra butterfly one I made. Oops. I'm concerned that they aren't all the same size. Hopefully they will look ok after I get them all together. The colors are so much brighter in the picture than in person, thankfully. This is acrylic yarn. A lot of the ladies on the Ravelry and FB groups say they arent going to block the acrylic ones. I'm torn. Thoughts?

But I'm coming up on a three day weekend so I'm looking forward to a lot of downtime to crochet. tyra and elaine how are you guys coming along? I finished blocking all the squares am on the 7th row of joining squares and then will turn and do the columns. I forgot how fiddly it is to join squares this way and remember why I pick patterns that join squares as you go - during the last round you join to the adjoining squares/hexagons. This way involves a lot of ripping out and improvising to make sure the corners all line up exactly without leftover stitches. tyra, blocking acrylic yarn doesn’t really work very well. Because it is all synthetic, it doesn’t really stretch out when wet and then hold that shape. Why don’t you try blocking a couple of squares and then decide if you think the finished/blocked squares are different enough that you want to do all of them?

tyra your squares look awesome! I don't block acrylic. They will smooth out when you join them. I think it's going to be beautiful. elaine I'm so jealous you're already joining. I just can't wait to see yours finished. I feel like that's the push I need to get moving is seeing yours complete.
