I painted/decorated advent calendars for my 2 adult daughters. Each drawer contains a piece of chocolate and a rolled paper message from me. I also gave them an empty clear ornament so they can add each message to it each day and then will have a new ornament for their trees with special messages from me. They both loved them.😊 View Attachment View AttachmentI love the advent calendar but really love that you put messages inside.

I’m in round 6 of the border. Plugging along and hating not having a chart. She doesn’t write in typical crochet pattern style, so it is slow going for me each round until I figure out the corner and repeat . How many rounds are there? You've got to be close. I'm bummed about the lack of chart for the border too. I've got all my horizontal joining done, now I am working on the vertical.

This is really lovely. Was this a pattern on Ravelry, and if so, could you link? I made mine with six skeins instead of four so it's quite a bit larger.
Thank you so much. I have bookmarked it and I'm pretty sure it's my next project.

I'm bummed about the lack of chart for the border too. I've got all my horizontal joining done, now I am working on the vertical. 9 rounds and each takes a few hours as it gets larger. I’m trying to pack for our upcoming family vacation (leave tomorrow), so I’m not devoting as much time as previous weeks. It is also kind of boring - no color changes, no fancy stitches, just lots of beige... I will only get to somewhere in round 8 tonight and then I won’t see it again until we get back. So, it won’t get done until sometime in December. ‘’I’m glad you got your horizontal joining done - that is the hard part. now they are all in place, the vertical goes faster. The front loop only thing makes going slower than it should for me.

Love that tree advent calendar! The crochet in this group is gorgeous. Makes me almost want to add yet another craft to my toolbox.

It’s been getting really cold here in the evenings and I’ve been huddling under a fleecy blanket for some extra warmth. I’ve also been itching to craft again with no urge to finish my numerous WIPs at the moment so, inspired by lainey ’s shawls I am making my very first one with the intention of snuggling it round my shoulders instead of the unwieldy blanket. Its a free pattern, Kaleidoscope Shawl by Yarnspirations and it’s really easy, just sections of a type of granny stitch and sections of a mesh stitch. The Red Heart yarn is on offer at Wool Warehouse at the moment as it’s being discontinued. The only downer for me is that I wish I’d chosen a different colour as I’m finding the petrol/metallic looking green a little too much but as it’s just for me I can live with it.

elaine I know you're on vacation but can you tell me about the set up rows for the edging? I'm nearly done stitching squares together

Beautiful everyone. ashley your quilt takes my breath away. Yesterday, for the first time ever, I saw yarn at my Aldi. I felt an impulse to buy even though I don't even do yarn work. It was beautiful.

elaine I know you're on vacation but can you tell me about the set up rows for the edging? I'm nearly done stitching squares together The first row is regular single crochet, but the second round is back post single crochet. It is a bit finicky - you really should refer to the pictures in the tutorial to know exactly what she wants you to do. It will take a little longer to do than single crochet. It does add some heft/thickness to the border.

🎉🎊🎈Doing the happy dance! Doing the happy dance!
Today I finished TWO projects: my first ever complete pair of knitted socks AND a squishy, warm knitted hat for DH. I have no pics yet, but will post when I manage to figure it out.
Tomorrow, DH and I are heading to Orlando to spend Thanksgiving with DS, so I will get about 7 straight hours of knitting in. I’m planning on taking yarn for another pair of socks, this time for DH, and more for several more blocks in the Nature Walk blanket. Since we are staying in a condo and only plan on one day at Universal Studios, I should get lots of time to kick back and get yarny.

But apparently I'm going to be spending my time off this week painting. My DD has completely moved out and DS is looking forward to taking her room.

Lap blanket finished, using Aldi velvet chenille yarn, to keep me warm in church. There's a draught straight from Siberia where I sit.

Our old church in TX used to have crocheted lap blankets at the back of the sanctuary hanging up. You could grab one to borrow if you wanted. I always thought that was so sweet. Enjoy your blanket!

RedSquirrelUK that blanket looks soft and cozy. I am finally done joining. Thank the Lord. That part wasn't fun at all. But I also started a beautiful purple butterfly shawl too. Because. I am a crazy crafter who needs 42 projects going at once.

I made a huge booboo with my knitting and had to tink it back, I let it sit a few days before I plucked up the courage to it I think it's ok now, hopefully, fingers crossed...
