I love my vitamix. I don't know about the other two. I rarely have to use the plunger, only when it's super full and not a lot of liquid to get it going.

I didn't really pay much attention to ACA thinking that it wouldn't affect us, since we had great insurance, and we were assured it would remain. You actually believed that? Really? You actually believed the entire health care system could be overhauled and you would be left alone because you liked your coverage? I'm stunned. I can't believe someone actually bought that. Hey, Obama himself said that if we had insurance we liked that we would be able to keep it. I knew our insurance wasn't getting canceled, I just didn't realize the costs would be so drastic. I don't think it's necessary to try and make me feel stupid with those kinds of remarks. You may be smarter than me, but keep it to yourself. I didn't think "I" was left alone because I "liked" something. Rude.

I didn't really pay much attention to ACA thinking that it wouldn't affect us, since we had great insurance, and we were assured it would remain. We've been very blessed since 1992 with this insurance and so I really had no idea how high some insurances were. It's crazy! Health care shouldn't cost as much as it does anyway. $5000 for an implant in my ankle (to keep it from moving incorrectly) the size of a screw 1/2" long! That surgery alone cost over $28,0000! $10 for some Tylenol, one dose! and on and on. Heaven forbid if it was a really serious surgery, transplant, etc.! Healthcare shouldn't bankrupt families.

I just found out yesterday that our insurance premiums are going from $68 per month to $534 per month. Affordable Care Act? Not from where I stand. It's going to take one of us getting another job to pay for our damn insurance. This puts our family into a tailspin that will just take up all our time working instead of spending ANY time together. We just don't make enough to cover this, but we make too much to receive any cost benefit. I wonder who was footing the bill for your medical costs before? At $68 per month for FAMILY health insurance, it would take 3 months of premiums to cover the cost of one family member's visit to a CVS Minute Clinic for a strep test. A trip to a regular doctor would be anywhere from 4 months' to a year's worth of premiums depending on whether there was any lab work done. One ER visit for a broken bone with X-rays and specialists could be a couple of years' worth of premiums at $68 per month. Eta: not to mention the $$ from your insurance that covers part of all your prescription drugs. The last time I had a full-time job with health insurance, it was 14 years ago for the Department of Defense, and I was paying $400 per month for the family. I'm sorry that your insurance premiums are rising exponentially. That really stinks! That said, I don't think what you were paying before even came close to covering typical medical costs. I'm not sure who was subsidizing your family's health care. I know we've been lucky for a long time. My husband's job just had great insurance coverage, and for years we didn't pay any premium, it was for the state teachers'system, and then with his retirement, that was to continue as part of his retirement package until he reaches age 70. Then the premiums went up to $68 and we still thought we were pretty lucky, because even though his retirement amount wasn't what we hoped it would be, the benefits offset that. Now not so much, but I am thankful that it's not more. Some of you have it worse it sounds like and I'm sorry for that. Someone mentioned you just have to suck it up, and I guess we will. Thanks everyone for your sympathy!

Do any of you have any good ideas on how to make something like a master file that would show all the images and phrases on the cartridges you own? I want to make a 3 ring binder of images that I can flip through when I'm browsing for images. It's quite time consuming to flip through all the little booklets.

What is this class you speak of? Scrapbook Generation has several online classes. One of them is about using 6x6 paper. If you have never been to their website you should check it out. They also have a monthly e-zine. Thanks I will check that out!

My storage for scraps is cheap, but works quite well for me. I sort my scraps by predominant color and they go in a gallon size Ziploc bag. These bags are then in a box that will keep them standing up. I can just grab the bag of red and see all my red scraps before I cut into a new sheet. It keeps them clean and unbent. I also store my alphabet stickers this way in the same box.

My first "real" scrapbooking experience was at a CM party. The CMC was really irritating. I found it so strange that they would teach you that there is only one way to design a page with random triangles of paper and shape cut photos. I bought a corner rounder and that was it. I had my own ideas of what I wanted to do and never looked back. I hadn't done scrapbooks before other than a highschool memory book, but I knew I didn't like her style.

I have been thinking about taking the 6x6 paper class a SG. Would you recommend it? Yes - definitely. You get quite a few sketches. If you're good at following sketches and embellishing your pages, you'll love it. What is this class you speak of?

One other thing I do with the flimsier paper that I don't like is use it to make envelopes. Just put a white label on it for the address. I love getting stuff in the mail that is in a patterned envelope! Not that it happens much...
..obviously I didn't see crazy4scraps post on this before I posted. I hadn't thought to do the white on the outside though. Great idea!

I buy a mix. I will buy pads if they are a good deal. And if I like most of the patterns. I love single sheets. Especially if both sides are good. But I love paper in any form I'm a kindred spirit! I just love paper (and office supplies....weird, huh?) I take my pads apart and separate them by color, unless they are REALLY well coordinated to each other. I use up more of the pad when I do it this way. I get the medium flat rate priority boxes (the tall skinny one, not the boxy one)assemble them and cut them like the cropper hopper paper holders, or magazine holders. Label them by color and then they are easy to find. I also have some themed ones, usually holidays, baby, camping, stuff like that. I have a box for "embellishment" papers too. The ones that can be cut apart for borders or journaling boxes, etc. It makes it easier for me to find, and I might find something from one collection that would look really great with another collection. I do have plenty of single sheets and 6x6 pads though too. I think it's a never-ending love affair with paper! Whatever papers I don't end up using will get used by my daughter for crafts, etc.

My 15yo dd has a chrome book from Christmas. I put parental controls on it, but she managed to find a way to take them off. I put them back on and she did it again. I found that she had been watching crummy youtube videos. She got the computer taken away. It's been about a month, and school is starting, she's going to need it. Can anyone recommend a good parental control program that she can't hack through? BTW, she denies removing the controls, but obviously she did. I'm not willing to give it back to her until she admits it. Honestly, the best parental program is supervised use. Kids will find a way to break through almost any security system. If you don't want her using it for anything but school work, schedule her daily screen time and make her use it in your presence. When she's done, lock it up until it's time to leave for school. It's an inconvenience for both of you, unfortunately, but it's the best way to be sure she's doing only what you want her to. What kinds of videos, BTW? Were they really bad? Does she have a smartphone (and couldn't she access the same content on that)? Be aware that if she really wants to access content you don't want her to access, she WILL find a way. Have you had a conversation with her about the content she is accessing and what it is and why you find it troublesome? She does not have a smart phone, or any phone for that matter. I know GASP! lol I did have a talk with her yesterday about it, and she was very willing to listen to my concerns and she understands. She still doesn't admit to taking the controls off, and honestly I wouldn't consider her computer savvy enough to figure it out, but I'm probably just fooling myself with that. We did talk about internet safety and such, because I agree that our teens need to be able to use technology, but in a safe way. She will be using it only for school for the time being.

I have tried chobani and I find it too sour. I like the flavors of Yoplait original, but it's too runny. The low fat has an aftertaste from the sweeteners I'd guess. I'm diabetic so I want low carb, but can't find it anywhere except for Smith's Kroger brand low carb yogurt. It's just OK. I have never tried Fage, but I think I will try it. Maybe I can sweeten it up with some stevia.

I was in Japan for my appedectomy and I was in for about 3 weeks. Not kidding! I was hit by a truck the following year (off my bicycle) and I was in for 2 weeks. That is just normal for there. A C section is a month's stay. No questions asked. Wow! Amazing length of times! having never had a C-section, I don't really know the recovery rates, but I would think I would be crawling the walls to get out of there way before a month was up! On the other hand, maybe hospitals there are more restful than they are here.

During high school and college, I worked for (what is now) Dillard's. At the time, it had a "you can't ask for a receipt policy" coupled with "we will take anything back, no matter what." I remember vividly having one woman pointed out to me. When her son was born, she'd bought him several full outfits, including shoes. Every time her son outgrew an outfit, she returned it, pointing out a frayed seam or hole in the sock or the like. The store then allowed her to replace the outfit in a bigger size. They didn't force her to stick with same brand or figure out a price point or anything. She did this for 18 years, until her son graduated from high school and joined the military. Wow, that is NUTS!! Nervy too!

I don't know if I'd say anything, but, if the street spot is open, whoever is home first would take it leaving the driveway for our second car. This is what I would suggest. Ask your DH to park on the street, especially if he gets home before you.

I am a night owl who wishes she was an early bird. On the few days that I have been up earlier than normal, the day seems so much more productive. I usually end up needing a nap around 3pm though. I don't have to be up early, except for church on Sunday, and I always take a nap on Sunday. Do you think someone could be trained to switch? It seems so hard when I try to.
