Samantha, I don't know you IRL, but my heart is aching for you. I lost my MIL to lung cancer in 2011 and I lost my father last Fall. The details are different of course, but the conundrum of how to get him home is the same....he was in Phoenix at time and my siblings and I flew there to see him and try to get him home.
I don't really have any advice for you, I just want you to know my heart is with yours, and my prayers are for you and your family right now. Please hang around here to keep your mind off things, if that's what you need, or to vent or cry or whatever you need to do to get through this time. We're here for you.

My go-to online shopping was done at 2Peas and ACOT....I did my part in helping keep 2peas open! LOL! I have also used All Scrapbook Steals. The customer service has been wonderful there. Also, they wrap my order in pretty tissue paper, makes it feel even more special, opening my goodies! Such a small thing, but I LOVE that. ( I should tell them that their gesture is appreciated!)
Thankfully, I've never run into a single problem with any of the orders I've placed at any of these stores.

Great ideas, ladies, thanks so much! As far as the collections, I wasn't really clear on that, sorry! I'm not really looking for a collection of red papers, I just meant any collections that have some good red papers in them. Thataway by SC is such an eclectic collection, if it weren't for that specific paper on the BOBW list, I never would have noticed it. And the Elle's studio paper, it's actually from a Christmas collection but the red with thin white lines isn't specifically themed as Christmas, kwim? Well DUH.....as I was typing this out I just realized I should look through the Christmas lines! Hopefully I'll come across some non themed B sides. Off to check out the ideas yall gave me - thanks again. Cindy in Texas

DO IT SUNNY!!!! I DARE you!! LOL!!! Ok, now you've done it. You've DARED me. How can I not do it now? Or....maybe I should wait for the dreaded TRIPLE-DOG DARE!!!Consider yourself triple dog dared, sister....but you have to show us what you get! My TM usually has just one little section, I may have to try the bigger one when I'm on the other side of town. Or I should REALLY just keep my butt on MY side of town, away from all the temptation! I just received my order from ACOT today and have a lot of cool loot already!

I think that is Chapter 1 of Glitter Girl's Scrapbook Survival Guide class from 2Peas. Oh well DUH.....thanks so much, Tammy! Thankfully I had success in downloading my class videos, I just haven't gone through them recently. I've been frantic trying to get as many Garden Girl videos as I can, and haven't spent a whole lot of time in actually watching them - I started to get sucked in but had to stop, LOL! Glad to know I already have that information safe. Thanks again!

He hasn't even asked what all the empty boxes are for. LOL I probably shouldn't head over there, but....I'm gonna! DO IT SUNNY!!!! I DARE you!! LOL!!!

I am using up the last of my BOBW kit for march or april, and it had some really great red paper - nice bright red but not a juvenile print. I've already re-ordered them, but have since realized that I don't have hardly any simple, pretty, bright red in my stash. Not that I have much red at all anyway, but it's all vintage-y or darker, which I hardly ever use anymore.
So now I'm on a hunt for some nice red papers. I'm burned out on the bobunny polka dot stuff, but other than that and just plain cardstock, I don't really know of any great red patterned paper. Can ya help a girl out? What do you like? What collections should I check into?
To give you an example, the papers that I'm loving right now are Candy Cane in the Noel collection by Elle's studio, and Signpost in the Thataway collecton by Studio Calico. Simple, but bright and clean. Multi colored papers would be cool too, as long as the main color is red.
I can't wait to see what direction yall point me!

There's a particular video I've been looking for but haven't come across it yet. I don't know if it was a Glitter Girl vid or in one of the classes I took from Shimelle. It's about batch scrapbooking, and she used photos from her tour of the costuming dept from Harry Potter. Can anyone help me find this? I'm scared it's a 2peas video and it will go away.
Thanks so much!

lisa, I like the idea of trying it with one collection, I'll try that! DUH! I don't have any official project life cards, at least that I know of. I have stuff like the "capture" set from BG, snippets, and 12x12 sheets that I have cut apart. most of them are a regular 3x4ish size, but several are odd shaped, as well. labels, tabs, index card shape, etc. I like the idea of just putting them all in a photo box....I can just go through them all at once and not worry about color or theme or blah blah blah...who would have thought that just dumping them all in one box might be the organizational answer! LOL!!

So I've gotten myself into a pickle with the number of journaling card type things I have...some actually have space for writing, some are just decorative elements to tuck in here and there. I seem to have a problem with buying them - I have a stupid amount of the little devils and now I've overwhelmed myself. I need some ideas on how yall ( Yup, I'm from Texas, Yall!) organize yours..... I have some shallow, lidded storage boxes from wallyworld that I store my scraps in - one box for yellow/orange/red, a box for green/aqua/blue, a box for neutrals, and a box for multicolored and pinks. In those boxes, I have a smaller plastic tray that I keep those little journaling card things in, sorted by the same color schemes. That way if I'm looking for a little something blue to add to a page, I have scraps and cards together to check out. I know I'm overthinking this and I just need to do what works for me...but I guess this doesn't seem to be helping me as much as I thought it would. I wish I would spend as much time actually scrapping as I do organizing! I know that means I have too much stash. But I'm working on that, one page at a time! while I'm still on the "how do I organize whine-fest", here's another question for you....most of my stuff isn't separated by collection or manufacturer...that's not how I think. I go by "hey, I need some stickers!" not, "oh, that EP summer sunshine collection sticker sheet is just the thing!" but, there are a few collections that I fell in love with so I DO have all the papers and embellishments together. Should I just go ahead and bust them up? I'm scared I'll regret it, but then again, my thinking is, if I'm going through my blue paper and pull out XX brand, and then go through my stickers and see the same brand that matches the paper, of COURSE I'll notice it matches and grab it, right? And if it's all spread out by category, I will be more likely to notice what OTHER collections will go with each element. Make sense? But what a pain in the butt if I end up hating it. what's yall's experience with breaking up collections? Did it work for you? Cindy in Texas

Just went to the 2Peas site to finish up grabbing any last bookmarks, and there's an update on the main announcement page that they are not shutting the site down til July 24. They said it was because of the overwhelming response to the sale and making sure everything gets shipped out....something along those lines, anyway!

While I doubt I'll miss it terribly, I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic about its demise. This place is great (even better, mayhap?), but it was a website that I went to nearly every day for more than a decade. I do feel a wee bit sad. This is exactly how feel. Well said, Ellie.

Posted this in another thread, but I think it belongs here....
Anyone else remember way back in 2006 when the Peas took over Oceangram?
Sadly Oceangram has been taken down, but I sent out messages every now and again since we we flooded the oceans.
The idea was that you wrote a message, put it in a bottle, and 'threw' it into the ocean, where it floated until it washed ashore somewhere and someone would find it. You kept watch at your beach and bottles containing messages would float ashore. You could add to the message that was there, or discard it and start a new one.
so the Peas sent thousands of messages and we had a bit of a 'message in the bottle' war with another message board - was it a parenting board? Something like that. Some of us visited their boards, and some of them visited 2Peas. Such fun!
I got obsessed with Oceangram when I read about it at 2peas....we were going through a lot of crap with our then teen daughter and I used that for some kind of cleansing, or something....saying what I wish I could say to her.

Thanks for the responses - they had a 12:15 appt so I just took the plunge. Not bad at all. The wax was purple and she did not use any cloth strips, just let it harden and ripped it off. The first pass stung a bit, like a bandaid being ripped off. She did two more passes and then tweezed a bit. The tweezing was the worst, but not a big deal. The whole thing took 10 minutes or less, and now my hairy monkey pits are lovely and bare. I made another appt for two weeks, hopefully it will just be easier. I may work up my nerve to do the lady bits next. Not a Brazilian, but maybe a round-the-edge-of-the-garden tidy up. Glad to hear that it wasn't too bad for you and that you no longer have hairy monkey pits. LMAO!!!!!

Our old man yellow lab won't walk on the wood floor in dh's home office. We thought he'd get used to it but hasn't in the 9 of his 10 years we've had it. He also won't walk on my niece's tile floor...when she watched him for us, she had to make a path of towels for him to walk to the back door to go outside!
In january, we pulled out the carpet in our upstairs hall and gameroom and replaced it with wood flooring. We had to buy long stupid carpet runners so he would come up stairs! When he's in my son's room, he won't come out unless he knows he's the only one in the hallway, and he runs all weird and crouched down to the stairs.

ah, just having a 2peas nostalgia moment....I remember reading about brazillians and such on the 2 peas board years ago, thinking NO. WAY. IN. HELL. Now here I am talking about my experience with it! SO stupid, I know, but Man, I have done so many things because of reading about other's experiences/reviews from the Peas, purchased so many things,(scrapbooking related and not) tried awesome recipes, read a ton of books after reading Pea reviews. <COUGHfiftyshadesofgrayCOUGH> I'm so glad this community is still alive and thriving here!
That feeling of losing such a positive support and information system in my everyday life was so sad for me and made me realize how much I gleaned from those boards and people, and made me resolve to participate in this new board more and offer what I can when I can. I appreciated every opinion and view, even if I didn't agree with it. Made me think and challenge some of my own sometimes, which opened my eyes to new thoughts as well as confirmed more deeply what I did stick with - all growing and progressing.
===end of emotional mom post====
I am in no way responsible for the ridiculous sentimentality of my ranting. I completely blame the fact that I'm on heartstrings overdrive this week because of my son moving out for college this weekend!

I found someone to wax me and she did my eyebrows and I was really impressed. I decided I could handle a Brazilian and then chickened out a few days later. Nope not happening!!!! There has to be another way to get rid of foliage. It stings the first time, yes. I bit my hand and cursed, but it really surprised me at how much easier it was the next time. I did just the bits the first time about 6 wks ago, the second time with bits, legs and arms was about a month later. They say it takes a couple of times to get *all* the hair, as it all grows on different cycles/rates. So the first time it hurt, (take Tylenol an hour before - really helps) but the second time I was truly relieved and happy with how much easier it went - no more painful than eyebrow waxing. Completely different experience the second time, it's really worth the discomfort of first time, to have no bumps or ingrowns! Oh, that reminds me, another tip that helped immensely - when you do schedule it ( see? I have complete faith that you can do this!) start exfoliating the area a few days before. I just used a body brush in the shower. It loosens up any current ingrowns and takes off the already dead skin that can lead to ingrowns later. It seemed to make a big difference. Also, YMMV, but the body waxing was done with hard(or is it considered "cold?") wax. Feels like gum stuck to your skin. Just different. I get my eyebrows and lip waxed with the hot wax still. The hard wax kinda hurt my face more than the hot wax, and for some reason didn't pick us as much hair, so more tweezing, which I'm a freakin' BABY about.

Well, I'm hoping I'm not the only one to reply to this post because I didn't have a great experience. I've had a bikini wax a few times, and about 3 wks ago I went in to get cleaned up for our beach vacation. I got the bikini area done first, and they speak the truth about it being much more tolerable subsequent times! I was so proud! Kinda felt a little badass, tbh. :-) then I got my legs waxed for the very first time and I was pissed at how much that hurt- I thought I had toughened up and if I could get the neither regions waxed without cursing now, legs would be a piece of cake. Um, no. Each hair being pulled felt like a pinprick, it SUCKED. I almost backed out out of getting my under arms done but did it anyway. It wasn't as bad as my legs, but the aftermath was bad. I ended up taking Tylenol to help with the burning, then used some spray pain reliver when the tylenol didnt help. I ended up going to sleep that night with a zip lock bag of ice under each armpit, its the only thing that provided relief. I was shocked at how long it hurt after...like a week. Im sure being in saltwater didn't help the healing but it was stupid how long it bothered me. I cringed putting deodorant on for two weeks. I peeled!
So there's my story...worth it for me? Hell. No. I dont know if my skin is just stupid sensitive under my arms or the tech burned me or something. (Didnt feel too hot at the time).

Oh, they definitely have more responsibility than just dishes and trash...with two boys those were just the things they argued about the most, so we came up with that "schedule" to nix the argument of "but I did it last time! Why don't you make ----do it?!"
Ugh, I think I'm just reeling from the fact that child #2 is flying the coop, and I'll only have one at home...trying to focus on logistics instead of coping with emotions. This just came on so freaking fast. I thought we'd have the rest of the summer to just "be" and enjoy him, ya know? He graduated june8, we had out of town company from june 5-13 and we left for vacation three days later. 4 days after getting home, we are whipped into a frenzy getting paperwork and dorm stuff together for him to move out 4 days after that. "Summer" is already gone for him and he hasn't even been out of school for a month yet!

One of the first threads I thought of when I realized the boards had been shut down was one mentioned earlier....the woman letting her husband make thanksgiving dinner for his family that he had invited over last minute or something....even my DH mentioned that when I told him about the boards shutting down! We laid in bed and laughed SO MUCH reading that together! I was busting a gut and he was curious about what had me cracking up. SO so funny!

Well, I had a great system when going, one son had dishes and trash on even days and other son has dishes and trash on odd days....but my older son is moving to his college dorm this weekend to do a mini semester before starting university full time in the fall. (Side note - we just got the call he got accepted into this program on Tuesday of this week, and he moves in Sunday! Not prepared at all, we thought if we hadn't heard by now, the answer was no. So, the past three days have been a whirlwind!)
So anyway, now there's going to be only one kid living at home full time. CRAZY! How do those of yall in a similar situation work out responsibilities? I don't want him to have to do everything every night, but he still needs to chip in. Keep it as is, and dad and I take up where older son has dropped out? I know we'll need to probably try a few things before landing on something that works for our family. I just need some starting points. :-)
Thanks guys! Cindy in Texas
