My DS is on Concerta for ADHD. He sees his dr every three months and she writes 3 prescriptions for it at once (one dated that day, one dated 30 days later, and one for another 30 days after that). He only has one office visit and I have 3 hard copies to turn in to the pharmacy. Perhaps that is an option for some of you.

Honestly there's nothing you can do. You can't warn her she is about to be fired because you don't know that and even if you did you would not be allowed to tell her. Any hint would just make her paranoid and unhappy at work. I would just sit her down and tell her she needs to find a new method to pay attention to detail better. (on a side note, I've been wanting to use that character)

I don't see a problem with it. If she donated what she wasn't going to use and then you asked for it back, I could see you being upset. I think she just verbalized what many people would do with things they were given but do not need.

I would hate to be the one to appraise that house. I watched the whole video and it was like a horrific accident where you know you shouldn't look, but you can't seem to turn away.

If mom HAS to provide diapers, I'd be sure to send only 2 cloth ones -- one to wear while the other is being washed. Bet that would make him change his tune pretty quickly.

I am on the board of our HOA. Let me share my experiences with the issues you presented.
As far as snow removal goes, our contract is for a set dollar amount per month, regardless of whether or not it snows. For any push over 4" at one time, we are charged an additional fee. In years where we have had few snowfalls, but larger ones, we had to pay additional costs -- even if that was the only snowfall that month.
Our HOA bylaws only allow a special assessment to be levied under certain, specific conditions. You might want to check your bylaws to see if that assessment is allowed. Additionally, I know that we (board members) have to carry an additional insurance policy because we could potentially be sued if mismanagement was suspected. I would ask for a detailed accounting of the finances from your management company.
Finally, we, too, have home owners who do not pay their dues. We can put a lien on their property, which requires a board member to take a day off of work, fill out the paperwork, go to the county, and pay to file a lien. Then, we wait. We get paid when one of the following happens: (a) homeowner decides to pay us; (b) property is sold; (c) property is refinanced; or, SOMETIMES, if a property is foreclosed the bank will pay the lien off (but in our state it is not required). I know that in some states HOAs can legally foreclose on a property for non-payment of dues. I would be asking your management company what their process is regarding payment of delinquent dues and any/all costs associated with the collection.

The flooding is crazy over here. The kids and I drove to IKEA yesterday (an hour away) during the afternoon storms. We missed the flooding by just a couple of hours. I don't know what we would have done if we were in the midst of it all. There is a spot on I-696 near I-75 where the water was up to the 14'8" sign on the overpass! Macomb County had to send the dive team in to check the cars on the freeway. I've never seen anything like it. And we are supposed to get another round of storms any time now.

It would have taken one car to go six inches from where they should be driving to kill that baby. And there was nothing I could do for it. Even if mom were sitting there with the baby, a car going six inches from where they should be could kill the baby, the mom, and the little boy. When you say there was nothing you could do for it, what do you mean? What would you have done? I don't see a problem with the little boy peeing. My kids were always telling me at the very last possible second that they needed to go NOW when they were potty training. And she was within a few feet of her baby? Probably not something I would do, but if she is comfortable with it, then not my place to judge.

My parents have one. They had the initial investment and then yearly maintenance dues. My cousin rented the unit next to my parents for a vacation the same week we were there (similar 3 bedroom unit directly next to my parents) and their weekly rental rate was LESS than my parents annual fees! Knowing that and how difficult they are to get rid of, there is NO WAY I would buy one.

My understanding is that the dwelling is just the structure, so what it would cost to rebuild. Keep in mind that your purchase price includes the land, and you already have that, so theoretically you could go with the appraised value less the land cost. Our insurance agent told us we had too much coverage when we insured our home for the full purchase price and that was his explanation.
Congratulations on your new home.

Earlier today I was reading some of the Yelp reviews. A few people noted that their policies have been changed several times within the last few years (as shown on Google cached - I think - and in fact, they had added more to the review policy, so their claim that it was just a joke that they forgot about was proven false. Yelp removed the 800+ reviews that were there earlier today, but some of the earlier reviews that are still on there confirm the $500 charge.
The Trip Adviser reviews were interesting, too. When there was a negative review, the hotel would call the reviewer a liar or imply that they were just out for something for free.
Great business model -- NOT!

You know, I struggle with this. I have written posts that after reading sound way harsher or more ... pretentious? condescending? I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but tone is not conveyed in a venue like a message board. Sometimes, though, the way someone perceives a comment says more about *them* than it does the comment or the intent. If I'm in a good mood and I read something somewhat snarky, I would probably laugh, but if I'm having an off day, it might hurt my feelings. You can't control that.

Thanks for the recipe. I can't wait to try it.
I keep my grated Parmagianno Regianno (sp?) cheese in the freezer and just take out what I need for a recipe (no need to thaw). I've never had a problem.

Last year I bought my boys the zippered binders from Costco. My younger DS is really rough on things and the binder held up very well. So well, in fact, that he can use it again this school year. (That's unheard of for him!)

I remember the warning from before. The vet prescribed Trifexis for one of my dogs and Sentinel for the other. I gave the one the Trifexis and she vomited immediately. Shortly after that experience, I saw the thread and never used it again. I also warned my other dog owner friends. I don't know why they keep prescribing this.

You shouldn't have to change.
After this latest update, I'm sorry, but what your DH said makes me so mad! He should be sticking up for you and if you don't go, he shouldn't go, either. If he goes without you, then that is like him saying it was ok with him how his sister treated you. I say you and DH should take the kids to the park on a different day and do a different get together with the family members you want to spend time with. He should have your back on this. If SIL sees no consequences to her actions, she has no reason to change her behavior.
