I did my first binge watch ever. I have binged 2-3 episodes of things, but never a whole series in one day. I swear I cannot watch TV for a while now.
I watch Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu. Please do NOT watch it. It was not good. The actors were great - just loved all of them - but the characters were ridiculous. I was angry when it finished that I wasted my one day off watching that. I am all for suspension of belief to a certain extent, but it was ridiculous and annoying.

We're really late to the game but have recently started watching Longmire on Netflix. We like it because, although there is an underlying storyline, each episode wraps up the murder/mystery from that episode. Loved that show. I just saw the actress who played Deputy Vic in The Mandalorian. flanz This sums up what I liked about Longmire.

We finished Longmire on Netflix last night. We loved the show, the characters and the beautiful scenery. Loved it but so sad it's over. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Thanks to all recommending Longmire! I'll have to check it out once we finish up The Crown. DH and i are really loving it, just saw first epi. of Season 4. Does anyone know if there will be a Season 5? And I plan to check out the Hulu series MichyM recommended, Better Things.

Looked up Longmire and it does sound good! We still watch the occasional Heartland and West Wing, both withstand the test of time. In spite of the phones, flol YDD was home over the weekend so we got sucked into Bridgerton. Good Lord! Layce

MARKSMAN (‘21 - A/O 1/24/21 still in MovieTheater) Liam Neeson rescues young boy from cartel. 4 Stars.

I finished Firefly Lane tonight (Netflix). I read the book when it came out so it’s been awhile that I only remember some plot points, and I think in essence it captured the spirit of the book. But thinking about it more, there were some major differences including the ending which I’ll just say leaves on a cliffhanger.
I’m not really a Katherine Heigl fan and this didn’t change my mind, but I thought the actresses that played the younger girls were really good and Sarah Chalke is really endearing as the adult Kate. The story jumps around quite a bit unlike the book which was a linear story and I felt that it kind of took you out of the moments too quickly. Overall, I enjoyed it. Hoping for a second season.

Although the jumping around didn't bother me (didn't read the book) I did wonder if the success of This Is Us had anything to do with that as that is what it kind of reminded me of.

We’ve just started watching The Shield on Prime. Only three episodes in and it’s looking promising. We were looking for something to fill the gap from just finishing Shetland. We loved The Wire, Bosch and Justified. We didn’t realise The Shield was so old until they talked about the theft of VCRs, then we realised there are no mobile phones. Otherwise, it doesn’t seem dated.

I just finished watching this series last night. I read the book a few years ago and really loved the book. It was the first book I read from Kristin Hannah and for me it took me right back to my teen years because I was the exact age as the two characters in the 1970's-I loved all of the products and the way Kristin Hannah wrote in the book about the 1970's era because that's the way I remembered them. I was really hoping this would be a great series. Unfortunately I can't stand Katherine Heigl as an actress. In my opinion she is a terrible actress but I decided to give her a chance. I was right (in my opinion). I hated her in the role and feel she ruined this series. I also didn't like the jumping around but having read the book I understood the story line. I also didn't like that they left it as a cliff hanger but I understand it-there is a follow up book to this one-it's called "Fly Away" so I do think there will be a follow up to this one. My hope is that now that this one was made hopefully we'll see more Kristin Hannah books made as series with better actors like "The Nightingale" and "The Great Alone".

The Night Stalker literally gave me nightmares, and I watch crime shows just for relaxation. I had no idea he was so truly terrible and so prolific. I mean, obviously he's terrible if he's a serial killer, but he makes Ted Bundy feel like someone you'd run to if this guy was after you.
I vaguely remember when they were looking for him back in the 80s. Didn't know the whole story until now. Many things made me pretty angry. One of the survivors interviewed must be the mentally strongest person on earth. So much to say--never saw a better case for vigilante justice but alas this monster got to die in jail instead of ripped apart by an angry mob. And there are no words for the women who wrote him in prison and worshipped him. Broken individuals I guess.
Now I'm watching Hotel Cecil, which is another Netflix crime show. Still on episode one so not sure what I think about this one.

These are great recommendations. I’m really looking for good escapist shows. Workin’ Moms on Netflix is great and so funny. There are 4 seasons available on Netflix. The 5th season starts next week but I don’t think it will be available on Netflix right away.
If you haven’t seen it, Vanity Fair on Amazon is really good (at least I think it’s on Amazon). It’s another period piece based on the novel.

Just finished watching Firefly Lane on Netflix. I liked it once I got accustomed to the jumping around. It took me about 2 full episodes. I read the book years ago and wasn’t impressed at all. I liked the series much more than the book. It’s looking like there will be a Season 2 Jan 2022.

Still on episode one so not sure what I think about this one. Just watched both and was surprised to see there is a connection. We are on a crime kick and also watched The Ripper about a serial killer active in the late 70s in England. Another sad, but well done, story. The Trial of the Chicago 7 is really good. On Prime, Breaking the Silence and Code of Silence are both really good and follow the story of child sex abuse in the Australian Orthodox Jewish community.

I'm not going to keep watching The Vanishing at the Hotel Cecil. Episode 2 was mainly just a bunch of web sleuths giving their dumb input. I only want the facts, not stupid conjecture about ghosts or a mystery foot (which is clearly her foot) or even more stupid conjecture about the surveillance video time stamp being purposely altered before being released (durr, if that was the case then why wouldn't that person just make the video disappear altogether).
I can't with this level of stupid. I came for a documentary, not a conspiracy theory.

But I have a great suggestion: All Creatures Great and Small (the new one, not the one from the 70s with its shitty cinematography) on PBS. Utterly charming.
