Our stimulus checks were deposited today. I have 4 days until I have to give it all back for taxes we owe. Thankfully I am still getting all my pay.
Is anyone going to benefit in a big way from the stimulus check?

I don't know that we will benefit in a big way, but it will be extra money for us as we are still both getting paid.

We have the money now and it isn't earning money. so we might as well pay them

We’ve paid taxes for the past several years, so they don’t have our direct deposit info. I’m still waiting to hear how we’re supposed to send them that . ETA: found some information saying they’ll have the site up by the 17th for those who usually don’t file taxes or haven’t given the IRS their direct deposit info.

I've been watching our account for it to come in. we're both working with a healthy emergency fund in place so it's not a huge deal to us, but I'm not going to turn it away by any means.
We've told our 2 kids it's coming, and they're both excited for it lol. I'm going to enact the save/ spend/ give rule and at least get them to save 1/3 while we talk about somewhere that might benefit from a donation as a family.
DH and My's portion will go into the vacation fund, to be activated at a later date. (we had plans to go to Universal at the end of May/Beginning of June. I moved our dates into August long before Universal extended their closure to May 31st, but who knows when they'll open up or when WE will feel it's safe to go.

You won’t wait to pay your taxes until July? I didn't really realize it was an option. Part of me feels I should pay now when I have the money. Now I'm not sure.

I just read an article that says if you have made tax payments, the IRS already has youraccount info and you should not have to submit anything. www.forbes.com/sites/zackfriedman/2020/04/09/stimulus-check-dates/#53647887588cScroll down to: Can You Get Your Stimulus Check Sooner?> Direct Deposit Information

Nothing here. We are saving it, I have no idea what will happen with my job so we aren’t spending any of it.

No- we won’t be getting a single penny and it really irritates me. We make just over the maximum allowed income. While I am thankful we earn a good living, we live in a high cost of living area and had to close our business down last month due to Covid19 and now have zero income coming in. Also, why are we penalized for doing well? It’s not like we are making millions. We pay a LOT in taxes. We didn’t get a penny from Obama’s stimulus package either. Thankfully we have savings, but it would have been nice to receive a check for $3400.

We haven't gotten ours yet but a chunk of it is going to remove three trees from our property. The rest will go into our savings and DS's savings accounts. While we are both still working and have a comfortable emergency fund, we don't mind adding to the savings we already have.

Our stimulus checks were deposited today. I have 4 days until I have to give it all back for taxes we owe. Thankfully I am still getting all my pay. Is anyone going to benefit in a big way from the stimulus check? Yep, july 15, no penalty if you owe... IR-2020-58, March 21, 2020 WASHINGTON — The Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service announced today that the federal income tax filing due date is automatically extended from April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020. Taxpayers can also defer federal income tax payments due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, without penalties and interest, regardless of the amount owed. This deferment applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers as well as those who pay self-employment tax. Taxpayers do not need to file any additional forms or call the IRS to qualify for this automatic federal tax filing and payment relief. Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file beyond the July 15 deadline, can request a filing extension by filing Form 4868 through their tax professional, tax software or using the Free File link on IRS.gov. Businesses who need additional time must file Form 7004.

We lost a bunch in the stock crash - more than half our retirement funds. Thankfully, MRD's (minimum required disbursements are not going to be required this year, but we usually use that to pay house insurance, city and county taxes. Instead, we will sock this stimulus check away to pay for that. But it has not come in yet.

We have our jobs, but live in a high expense area, so our income is only about median. Very middle class for the area. Plus with med school tuition and college tuition coming in the fall, it would have been put to good use. We pay a lot in taxes; we always seem to fall just outside of any stimulus plans that have gone through.

We're not getting anything but I hope my kids get theirs soon. I'm happy to help them out but also happy if they can get a bit more of a break.
