Welcome Welcome one and all!
So happy to be "here" with all you as we celebrate iNSD this May 1/2/3!
We may be isolated at home, but with our google hang-outs schedule we hope you can find time to chat and crop with us this weekend.
CROP WITH US! - please go to this thread to find the host and link to the google hang outs crops:
Google Hangouts schedule/Links
CHALLENGES! I will post daily challenges - about 6/day - here in this post. I will post them at 5pm EST the day BEFORE to allow international peas to have them early in their day. Of course there will be lots of points up for grabs with the challenges, but details on points will be posted on the challenge board for team peas.
And in light of the "world on hold" feel to pandemic life, we will be revisiting old pea challenges all weekend long!
PRIZES! To encourage the social support aspect of the weekend, there are 4 (FOUR!) GCs up for grabs! They will each be ~$20USD or $30CDN. Entry to the draw will be for interaction alone - no challenges need to be completed, no projects need to be worked on! You will get an entry for every 10 posts on this thread, or 10 comments in the gallery, and for every participation in a hang-out!
BADGES! AussieMeg has some ADORABLE badges made up to celebrate participation this weekend! More info to come; I'll link here later
THANK YOU'S! Huge shout outs to grammadee , msliz , AussieMeg , LisaDV , joyfulnana , gramma for all the planning, and to Mel , Jessica and artbabe for jumping in to host!!!
And so, without further ado, here are your Friday challenges:
1. FRIDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE, EASY AS 1-2-3!
In September 2019, joyfulnana gave us some wonderful sketches and we're going back to them today!
1 PHOTO SKETCH: sketch #1
2 PHOTO SKETCH: sketch #2
3 PHOTO SKETCH: sketch #3
Choose ONE to complete this challenge! If you DO want to complete more than one you can claim the 5 points for each one.
Also, feel free to interpret the sketch into a card if you like!
2. FRIDAY CARD OR TAG CHALLENGE
The cardmakers among us have created some of the best challenges through the years. But if cards are not up your alley, you can
make a tag, or interpret into a layout.
Today, we have joblackford with her "card for pop"/masculine card challenge: CARD FOR POP
3. FRIDAY RECIPE/STASH CHALLENGE
In the world of using combinations of products, or using up our stash, also comes the idea of creating KITS from our stash!
I found this challenge from crystalb to create a kit: Kit challenge
It's very open - create a kit, small, medium or large, and use it! Please post a picture here of your kit before you create with it.
But no, a picture of your entire scrapbook stash does not count as a kit (my own sneaky brain thought about doing that...)
(Bonus You can have 5 points for EVERY LAYOUT YOU CREATE USING THIS KIT this weekend!)
4. FRIDAY RANDOM CHALLENGE
2 years ago, we added a monthly "Donna" challenge as a reminder of why we want to record our memories.
Here is an early offering: Donna challenge
Please use the recipe - a white background, doodling and a one word title - in addition to telling an "important" story, to complete this challenge!
5. FRIDAY iNSD 2020 PANDEMIC CHALLENGE
STAYING AT HOME - create any type of layout or entry (PL/TN/art journal) about life at home. This is not limited to our current quarantine - any "at home" topic will meet this challenge.
- Or make a card featuring a house or garden or something "homey" in theme!
- To mark the difference in life before/after quarantine, your project must have at least one OLD and one NEW product on it!
And now on to SATURDAY CHALLENGES!
1. SATURDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE: SKETCHY SATURDAY!
Since we already get an awesome Saturday sketch offering, I am going to refer you to today's post courtesy of the awesome AussieMeg !
Sketchy Saturday
Now, an additional bonus twist: I found this great challenge from 2015 (!) from a pea I do not recognize @ionr.
double scrap
Double scrap this sketch! Maybe we can interpret it into a card? Turn the sketch sideways or upside down?
Anyways, I'm offering 20 bonus points to team members if you complete this sketch a second time!
2. SATURDAY CARD OR TAG CHALLENGE
Again today, if cards are not your bag, you can make a tag, or interpret this challenge into a layout. But do consider the thrill of giving a homemade card!
Consider the numbers of people right now who would benefit from some homemade kindness! Maybe today is the day you broaden your crafty world?
Here is a challenge from justjac , one of our prolific card makers AND scrapbookers!
sentiment die challenge
She challenges us to use sentiment dies - but lets broaden that to ANY word die/die cut, or ALPHABET die/die cut. Her twists were to LAYER the die cuts, and
to use a PROJECT LIFE CARD. I'd like to see both put into action to meet this challenge! And bonus points...10 bonus points if you scraplift justjac 's example card, either lifting it, using as a sketch, or using it as a moodboard for a layout (greys/creams/pinks, florals/laces/maps/doilies...)
3. SATURDAY RECIPE/STASH CHALLENGE
I miss Chinagirl828 's regular monthly stash challenges! Stash is one of the most common topics on the board: too big, ill-used. So dig in! Here were her
recommendations from Nov. 2017: November stash challenge
Please use at least 3 items from this list to meet this challenge!
• ledger print
• at least two different alphas
• die cuts
• something with text
• doilies
• frames
4. SATURDAY RANDOM CHALLENGE
A word inspiration - a little ironic now that ALL of us are very firmly grounded. linda posted the suggestion that we FLY!
FLY!
5. SATURDAY iNSD 2020 PANDEMIC CHALLENGE
Brought to you by the letter C and the number 19!
First, you'll find 3 items that start with "C". This could include a title word that starts with "C", making a CARD, or items off this list: cardstock; carta
bella; chipboard; cocoa vanilla; chocolate or caramel colours or topics; Christmas; camera; clips; circles; cut file; copics
In addition, the number 19 should be addressed. You could use the number (even in journaling, or in the date! Like 1988, a great year to graduate )
or use 19 of something: 19 words in your journaling, 19 sequins, 19 nuvo drops, 19 flowers...
And, now, the SUNDAY Challenges!
1. SUNDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE
KikiPea has been providing monthly sketch/scraplift challenges for a LOOOOOONG time and I always print them out but then often fail to address them.
So in honour of her hard work in providing us this monthly inspiration, here's another shot at this one
I love the design, and soft colours/mood of the first layout; the sketch could be used as a 2 pager, or choose either side as a 1 page layout!
KikiPea sketch/scraplift challenge
2. SUNDAY CARD OR TAG CHALLENGE
Also acceptable for non card makers - a tag, or interpret this challenge into a layout.
Today, we have the lovely mel on tap for her challenge to find OLD supplies - really really OLD! Because everyone's stash differs, I cannot tell you
exactly what "old" means to you...but let's dig deep I think I'll add old TOOLS to the options - punches and stamps that have been pushed out of the
limelight perhaps?
Mel's challenge
For a bonus challenge (and bonus 5 points for team members) - scraplift mel 's card, turn it into a sketch, or use as a moodboard for your layout!
3. SUNDAY RECIPE/STASH CHALLENGE
For this challenge, I'm choosing another CARD challenge, but you are welcome to use nylene 's recipe options on a layout as well.
Nylene's challenge
She instructs us to use at least 4 of the following:
use a punch Die Cut Pearls or enamel dots
Stamping Pop dots Flowers
dry embossing sequins or jewels Washi tape
heat embossing Fancy fold ribbon or twine
more than 2 layers stitching (faux or real) Patterned paper
watercolour glitter
As a bonus (again bonus 5 points) you can scraplift this card, or create an element on your layout that lifts her textured circle, banner, and
clustering of flowers.
4. SUNDAY RANDOM CHALLENGE
LisaDV posted this simple challenge - to use at least one TRIANGLE - way back in 2015!
Lisa's triangle challenge
But are triangles ever really simple? Such a unique and obvious shape, they really stand out amongst circles and squares, and it's hard to just "throw a
triangle" on a project. Off you go!
5. SUNDAY iNSD 2020 PANDEMIC CHALLENGE
Easter was very different this year as celebrations and family gatherings were cancelled or significantly altered. Mother's Day plans are gone or changed.
With many birthdays in our family in the Spring, I'm also noticing the change in plans, and unfortunately diminished enthusiasm, for these too.
So I'm revisiting this awesome idea from gramma - create your own holiday! She challenges us - "it's not a holiday, but it should be!"
Card makers - creating a card to celebrate someone in your lift who needs a lift or deserves a thank you!
Gramma's Make a Holiday Challenge
So happy to be "here" with all you as we celebrate iNSD this May 1/2/3!
We may be isolated at home, but with our google hang-outs schedule we hope you can find time to chat and crop with us this weekend.
