Dh just decided to take the quad out today and check fences rather than garden, so I should be free and clear to join the Hangout at noon our time. Hope to see some of you there. Have a LO I am working on, and a birthday card. Plan to use some chalk, msliz, and I am setting up some titles for the pages and a tree for the card on the Silhouette, nylene and gramma. Of course, since they are not yet in my hands, I really really WANT to use the blue VB crayons that justjac picked up for me last week, but am looking for papers to use, instead.

grammadee - yay! I'm not sure I can figure out hangouts but I'll try. I'm scrapping today -three layouts done already Would LOVE to see you! I hope to be on early. If you click on the link when msliz posts it, it should give you a button to join the call. You need your camera and your mic on. PM me or msliz if you are having trouble with Hangouts, and hopefully one of us can help.

Linda, if I can figure out Hangouts, I know you can. You just click on the link, it asks if you want to join, and the first time it asks for permission to use your camera and sound. Then you are on! I would love to see you, too! Sundays are hard for me with Church (remote) at the same time. But Sat. nights have been fun. Today DH needed a part at Harbor Freight. There were not a lot of people in the store, but all but one wore a mask. That's surprising because in the woodworking store ours are the only masks. LisaDV, I have been thinking of you and your family. How are you all doing? Hugs! It was fun to see Peas on the Hangouts. Thanks, Msliz, for setting this up. I have a few layouts that just need a little work and then I'll post them. joyfulnana, I'm glad you got your sewing machine tension figured out. My DD was having trouble with hers and called a repair place. They said they could go through it and clean it and it would be 12 weeks before they could get to it. She asked about maybe buying a new machine. He said they are sold the minute they come in. So she came by to have me work on it. Tension issues are a pain! We did get it looking ok. I hope to see you soon on Hangouts. I know that you are a busy lady! I have an idea for Cousin Camp this year. I would like to send each grandchild (who wants to participate) a Genius Kit. Each would have exactly the same items. They would have a week to build their creation and then we would Zoom together and show off the creations. DH insists that we have to send 2020 shirts to them with the kit. We would also have them record their talents and have a talent show online on another night. We have one married DGD who would have fun with this with her DH. So there may be more participants than usual. I'm still thinking this through, so any ideas would be appreciated.

kellyr21 , I just enjoyed your paint video. Thanks for the info about making spatters. I need to practice that. Mine look awful but I haven't had enough water, I'm afraid. I appreciate the tutorial. I am enjoying seeing you on video!! Linda, I haven't tried with a phone. I have an ipad that I use. I know you can do it.

Happy Monday! Today is a slow day and I am glad. I hope to work in my TN today. Oh, I almost forget but we got a new printer! I had been looking for one over the last several days. So I was surprised to walk in the our front room and see a box with a brand new HP printer there. So we set it up last night and I am looking forward to printing up a storm. LOL! Our old one would make a machine gun sound every time you had to print and then finally it just stopped working. LOL! It was old and it was time to get rid of it. nylene- I know your would do a good job adding paint. If you think you want to try, practice on a separate piece of paper. I know it will look great! Your cousin's camp idea sounds wonderful! I know they will love it. Keep us posted if you do it. So cute how your dh wants to make sure they get their t-shirts, too. Good granddad!!! linda- If you can join Hangouts, I will be glad to see you, too. grammadee- How are the doggies these days? I am glad you got to skip the garden work so you could join the Hangout instead! joyfulnana- You are sewing!!! That is great! I missed what you are working on. I want to get mine out sometime this year and give it a whirl.

Whew! Yesterday was a BUSY day!
I had known our second ds "might" drop in here on his drive from Saskatoon SK to Abbotsford BC. He confirmed it yesterday at 7:30AM. I sprang into action: washed the bedding in his room, cleaned like crazy, took ribs out of the freezer for a late supper (planned to arrive about 8:00PM. Invited dh's sister and our nephew & wife to join us for a late supper on the deck.
Jumped in the vehicle and headed to the print shop (45 minutes from home) to pick up the last batch of printed pages for dgd's grad album, which became two albums as I was assembling it/them. Picked up a DQ ice cream cake for ds's birthday which is the 8th. Came home. Cleaned the deck: floor, tables, chairs, all the cooking and serving items. Got the ribs going in the portable oven and the rice in a slow cooker on the deck.
Started madly putting pages into protectors (well, the last 180). Realized I needed two albums. Then that I needed a cover page for the second one. Finished that by 7:ooPM, just in time to do the last prep for the meal.
The evening was great. Lots of socially distanced visiting on the deck. Got to bed by midnight. But the adrenalin was still pumping, and didn't get to sleep until after 2:00AM. Up again by 7:00 to have breakfast ready for ds before he started his long leg of the trip to his family's home. Thankfully, he took the bag with the albums, and his bd card--which I remembered after going to bed, got up, signed, and placed by his shoes.
He is on his way and dh has gone out to see how the fencing is going on our "north quarter" (1/2 mile square of land just north of our home property), and my eyes are burning, but I don't know if I can completely let go, yet. I am doing laundry--ds's sheets & towels--and have just cleaned up the kitchen after last nights meal and this morning's breakfast.

grammadee, I was laughing as I read your post, imagining you dashing from place to place. You are a whirlwind! Glad you got everything done that you wanted and that the album is on its way to your DGD. I can't believe how many pages you had in that album. What a lucky granddaughter. Do you just copy every page that she is in? I am so impressed. I agree with Linda, go take a nap! kellyr21, I am ready to start a new project. I will have to see if I am brave enough to pull out the paint. LisaDV, thinking about you today. Sending prayers and hugs. gramma, nice to see your cute hat avatar popping up. Have you been working on more cards lately? I am getting the urge. Linda, some many great photos and pages. Because of you I took a few photos today that I wouldn't normally take. I need some everyday pages. We made our daily trip to Home Depot today. I was able to stay in the car because DH knew where to find what he needed and didn't have to read labels. I will probably have to get to the grocery store tomorrow since I didn't go last week. Those are our only outings. We are pretty boring people right now. LOL I have completed 4 layouts for the Pokey Pea Challenge. I'll post them here:

ITA with Linda , that smiley car is adorable, nylene . And I LOVE your Cousin Camp idea! Can you ask each participant to suggest one item to go into the genius kit? Then you can add some items of your own that will be a surprise to everyone. Love that Grampa suggested the shirts. I am sure you will come up with a really cool design for this one, being a special experience and all. Need to look at that car page more closely in the Gallery. I am also way behind in leaving comments on the sharing thread. Need to get there soon, as well. Hope you don't think I am crazy, but I am heading out on a road trip today to Calgary. Have not been there since early December, and nowhere further than an hour and a half from the farm since early March. My oldest ds and family had planned to drive up here next week--the time originally planned for our family reunion on the yard. On Monday they texted that they would not be able to come. Ds broke his foot on Sunday when his horse slipped and fell on his foot in the stirrup. His dw can't drive b/c she is on medication right now. They live on an acreage about 10 miles from Calgary. Their boys are in baseball, which has just reopened, and are really excited about it, but now transportation to games will be difficult. I will be honest with you. Part of the huge urge to jump in the vehicle and just go is a mama urge to be with my kid who's hurt, and to jump in and help wherever I can. Simply driving the kids to ball or picking up groceries will be a help to them. But another huge part just wants to BE there. SEE them in person. (Take some pictures of the boys playing ball?). Hearing they would not be coming here was a huge gut punch. Reminded me, yet again, of the Not-Happening-THIS-Year family reunion that was to be on our yard. I talked it over with dd, whose immunocompromised health I definitely do NOT want to endanger. OR stop her from freely coming here with the little guy whenever she needs a break from wrangling him alone while Daddy is overseas. But she talked me through it, and explained that if I did this, this, and this, I would be very unlikely to bring Covid home with me in my vehicle. So I am going on a road trip! Have almost forgotten how to pack. (Had finally emptied my go-bag and looted the meds and hair products) I DO have Lysol spray, wipes, paper towels and hand sanitizer in my car. And strict instructions from dd about using them after gas fill ups and any stops on the way. Will take my fat free yoghurt and skim milk with me. And last night I slept like a rock for 11 hours, so I should have my energy back to handle the drive! Haven't forgotten all you pokeys while I have been hyper focussed on me me ME this week. Will have my ipad with me and will come back on here to read and comment once I am settled in there tonight.

Hello everyone! nylene love your pages! Are they digital? Is that the kind of scrapbooking you do? I have tried to learn digital many years ago but couldn’t get the hang of it. You must be very digitally organized, right? I’m the opposite....a digital mess! kellyr21 can’t wait to check out your new video. I’m afraid if I take out my paints, I’ll start doing some art journaling that I’ve been thinking about for a while...the problem with that is if I start doing that, my PL album will get pushed away even further down my “need to do” list. Ha! It’s staring at me right now begging for attention that I just don’t want to give. I have been playing around with my washi tape circle layout the past few days. I used my CM circle cutter and I’m glad I got to break that out and use it. It’s really nifty to use. I used the largest circle size and unfortunately it wasn’t as large as I intended it to be. I had to add in the square elements for “more”. There was too much open space. The white square will hold a 4x4 photo of my husband and I. The little floral card will have some journaling on the back. It’s just tucked behind with no adhesive. I’m thinking a stitched border around the whole thing might be cute. Maybe. This isn’t my usual scrapping style so this was fun to try! Thanks for the tutorial Kelly! Edit: I took a pic of the layout and had it here but it wasn’t a very good pic. I uploaded it below.

janesays , Thank you for your comments. No, I do not do digital. I am so computer challenged that posting here is the height of my abilities. I would love to learn it, too, but it would take too much learning,I'm afraid.I love the feel of the paper and embellishments so I would probably miss that. I love your washi circle page! I think it looks great with space around the circle. I love the 2 colors you used as neutrals and the proportions between them. Tucking in the cards and adding the circles really adds to the design. You are on a roll! Maybe you could alternate making a traditional 12x12 and then a pocket page. kellyr21 is a great teacher! You did a beautiful job with her design. grammadee , I am so sorry about your DS's broken foot. That must have been a scary experience for him. You are definitely a momma and need to be with him if it's possible. Your grands will be so glad to see you and you will be a great help to them. Besides, it gives you a chance to get away! That's what I really need right now....to get away for more than just a Home Depot run. LOL It sounds like you are well prepared for avoiding the virus. Have a safe trip and take care of the GB while you are there. But mostly, have a wonderful, relaxing time with your family! I hope you all have a nice day today.

nylene I've fallen into the habit of cutting scraps into sizes that I can use for card making. I usually make up several sets ahead. Then when I'm waiting for my Silhouette to cut elements I put the cards together. I've built up a library of templates for cards so I always have something to cut.

Happy Wednesday! Waving hello to you all! I had a good day. I am working on my new video. I loved this mini album that Heidi Swapp did on Scrapbook.com and made my version of it. I had fun making this one and will be sharing it with you gals. grammadee- I hope you have a good trip! I saw unable to sleep until after 2 a.m. last night, too. I hope can get back on track tonight. nylene- If and when you are ready to pull out your paints, I am cheering for you!!! Also, those layouts are soooo beautiful! Love your designs!!! LisaDV- Praying for you and thinking of you sis!!! janesays- GREAT JOB!!! You circle layout is terrific! I like the patterns you used and the little tag at the top right. So cute! Thanks for playing along and watching my videos. I know what you mean about having projects pulling at you. I have a few projects calling me, too. LOL!

nylene I think your Cousin Camp idea is Genius! Any idea what you will put in them? Are you able to see the grands very often yet? I am boring people right now too. I can count on one hand the places I go on a regular basis lol. grammadee so sorry about your DS and your reunion. Enjoy your time with them. It's got to be so good to SEE them again! This year has been the pits and it's only July! Awww that text convo is so heartwarming! I'm glad she loves the books! But who wouldn't??? They are awesome! Not a lot going on here. Just a lot of working. My A/C is still not running yet and the noise of all the fans is starting to grate on me. They've run into a problem with it and the person the landlord hired is doing this as a side job, so we aren't a priority I don't think. But it's comfortable with all the fans, just noisy lol. And I was very surprised that my electric bill was $4 less than this time last year lol. kitbop enjoy your time off! You deserve it! Linda stay safe! I'm sorry things are so bad in Florida right now. I had a feeling when things started opening at breakneck speed this would happen. And I don't see any states going into full lock down again. I feel fortunate that our Mayor puts things in place like the mask mandate. janesays your washi circle is great! I love all the happy patterns!

grammadee - awesome text conversation - so glad she liked it but of course she would! janesays - lovely circle and the whole layout is so pretty - I love the neutrals with the bright circle. gramma - that's a really good idea! kellyr21 - another video - awesome! joyfulnana - I'm so sorry your A/C still isn't working but glad that the fans are keeping you cool. We're staying safer at home - Dh goes to work, I go to shop once a week, but that's really it. Cabin fever is starting to kick in though especially for DD13. And sadly we had to make the decision to have her start the new school year virtually on August 10th instead of in-person so she's very disappointed about that. Today's plans are to pick up groceries and drop off recycling, proofread my WITL photo book and get it ordered, and scrapbook. We're in a heatwave with 'feels like' around 106 so staying INside

gramma , I think that is a great idea to have templates and cut the pieces for cards from your scraps. Did you just watch for great templates or did you design your own? Will you be scrapping tonight? grammadee , glad you arrived safely. Have fun MAKING memories that you can SCRAP later. How is your DS doing with the break? Was the horse injured in the fall? I think your DGD's texts are so sweet. This will be an heirloom book for her. What a gift! She's lucky to have such a sweet grandmother. joyfulnana , I have not seen my CA grands for a year. They were planning to come in August, but not now. I see Em's older girls because they drive and drop off groceries or other things. I haven't seen Alex for a couple of weeks. The other two families live in opposite directions in the County and I haven't seen most of them thru the whole quarantine. I do have a list of things I'm including in the Genius Kits. Once I refine it, I'll post it here. I hope you get the air conditioning on soon. I'm sorry the fans are so noisy. Glad you are not roasting though. Linda , I'm sorry that the virus is so prevalent in FL. Our numbers keep going up but the governor won't mandate masks and nearly everything is open. More and more businesses are requiring masks though. I understand not sending your DD to in class school. I would have a hard time making that decision if I had young children. When I taught school I could see that Elem classrooms were often little petri dishes! Chicken pox went clear through my class and I was pregnant at the time. Mom thought I might have had a very light case as a child. I must have some immunity because my children all got them too and I didn't. I worry about who will substitute if a teacher gets sick. Most of the subs are retired teachers and they won't want to go. Difficult decisions for sure. kellyr21 , I pulled out all my paints...and looked at them. They are still sitting out, but I haven't started anything yet. Maybe next week I will get brave. I'm enjoying your videos. I hope to get on the Hangouts tonight. I know DH will want to watch a movie, but I figured out how to work the DVD player last night (we are so technology challenged!) and our DGD dropped off some John Wayne movies yesterday. I can start one without using my ipad, so my ipad can be used for Hangouts. I know he won't mind watching/sleeping through it alone. Off the get something done.

Happy Saturday! It is HOT here and we are staying cool. My new video is up! It has been fun learning how to make different types of mini albums. This one was the easiest one I have done. There are a few more pictures in the gallery. To see all the pictures, visit Kelly's BlogYouTube Video Link HereBoxed Card Mini Album by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr nylene - SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! You got the paints out! That's a great start! LOL! I know you will have fun once you get started. Remember, you can't mess up! So glad to have you on my cheering team. You have seen me through all my creativity and your support has meant the world to me. linda and joyfulnana - Stay cool! joyfulnana , I hope that a/c can be fixed soon. Yesterday, I was distracted and had the a/c on and then put the microwave on. Oh NO!!! The power went out!!! I was so upset but then we flipped the brakers and everthing returned. WHEW! I am glad it was an easy fix. I just couldn't imagine being this hot with no a/c or fans. LOL!

I have been busy since I went back to work and finally just decided to sit down and read my MB's. nylene , The hospital I work at is 596 beds. Between all the hospitals that are affiliated with us, we have 1050 beds. We are seeing more COVID patients and they were talking about having to open another floor for them. There is talk again that they might need to stop elective surgeries again. grammadee , have a safe journey and enjoy your trip! kellyr21 , I love your butterfly video! Such a pretty page. My DH ended up losing his job. He drives me a little nuts how he is with the heat and cold. I didn't know anything was going on till I was getting ready for work that evening. His a/c wasn't working in his car and so he refused to drive it to work. I was sleeping and he didn't want to bother me so he called a cab and called his job that he was going to be late. The cab I guess never came and after about 40 minutes, his boss called him and told him not to bother to come in ever. I felt bad for him but yet not happy that he just wouldn't drive his car with the windows rolled down. I think this has ended up being a blessing. He was hardly getting hours for quite some time at the daycare. I was glad that the very next day he went to a temp agency in town and took the clerical test and passed. He wasn't placed anywhere right away that he went to the industrial side of the temp agency and got placed right away working at a production line in a factory. He now is working 10 hours a day during the week. Saturday morning, a bunch of people were to work overtime. He got there and the supervisor told all the agency staff that they aren't to work overtime to clock out and call the agency Monday. He has been a bit frantic about that. I hope that this works out for him. He seems to like it and that he is getting more hours. I have been enjoying hanging out with my sister some over the 4th. My youngest niece came down from KC. My sister's new house is part of a HOA and has a pool. She has invited me over to swim a few times. The pool hasn't been very crowded which is good for the current times. I took a nap this morning so I have been up half the night cleaning. I decided to take a bit of a break. I work Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and then have 7 days off. I am looking forward to it! I will hopefully get to sleep most of the day today. I hope everyone has a good week!

knutschen - sorry about your DH's job - hopefully the temp agency job will work out for now and he'll find something permanent soon. Glad you got to spend time with your sister. kellyr21 - stay cool! Those mini albums look super! Quiet day here. Watched Apollo 13 with the family - DD13 had never seen it and needed to watch a space film for a Girl Scout patch she's working on. And had a long phone call with DS. I did scrap some this morning and hopefully can do another layout later tonight Hi everyone!

Just a quick note to let you know I am home again safe. But dd is here for the week with her ds, and it is her birthday tomorrow, so I had to get into town to pick up supplies to make a cheesecake for her celebration. We will again invite just 3 extra people (dh's sister, son and dil) and visit on the deck. Dd wants it to be really "simple and easy", has chosen take out pizza for the meal, so after the cheesecake has been made, most of the work will have been done.
