grammadee , glad you are home safely and it sounds like a low key birthday celebration too. Enjoy the company. knutschen , thanks for checking in. I'm sorry about DH's job loss, but maybe this is an opportunity for something even better. I'm glad he has temporary work. That might even become permanent. Take care of yourself with all the Covid around you. I hope a vaccine is found quickly. I wish our governor would mandate masks. Our numbers keep climbing. Linda , how is your DS doing? I'm glad you could have a long conversation. DH and I watched a bunch of old movies this weekend too. Well, I watched he always sleeps through much of them. LOL. I saw that you have posted a few more layouts. I'll go take a look. kellyr21 , your boxed cards albums are so pretty. I know that AC has boxed cards at the warehouse but I haven't looked at them. I will take a look the next time I'm there. I would never think of doing an album that way! Cool. Thanks for the video tutorial. gramma , it was nice to see you on Saturday. I'm still working on my cards, just when I get a minute. joyfulnana , one of these times we will hook up at the same time on Hangouts. LOL. I'm so glad msliz hosts this. LisaDV , thinking of you today. Hugs. patin, I hope you are doing well and have supportive friends and family around. I need to run fix dinner. I'll check the newest layouts later tonight.

Happy Monday!!! We had a restful weekend. I played with some crafts and stayed COOL! It has been hot but our little a/c units have been keeping us comfortable. I did my hair today which is always a big job and I am just glad it is almost done. One day I wash and blow dry. Another day I flat iron. So that step is next. I miss my curly style and hope to return to it soon. nylene- Yeah, this boxed card idea was awesome. I started another one that is 6x6 sized. I may even try a larger size, too. Glad you watched. grammadee- Happy to hear you made it back home and planning your dd's bday. Cheesecake sounds so yummy! Waving hi to you all and have a good rest of your day!

grammadee - have a super celebration and cheesecake party! Do you think...that maybe when this is all over...people will stay "smaller" and "simpler" with things like birthdays? I feel like the world (our first world, anyways) has been getting bigger and more grandiose - think weddings, graduations, milestone parties - and I was always one who didn't quite see the point of going beyond what pleased the celebrator. Maybe this will act as a "reset" so we can start small again? linda - good movie! My boys (erm, men?) would love that one. knutschen - sorry about the extra stress in your life! Hope his employment stuff works out for you two. We just restarted elective surgeries on the actual surgical floor last week (they had been doing a significantly decreased number on an alternative floor while the actual surgical unit was turned into a covid/medical ward). So that part of my world is righting itself. But our covid numbers are very small these days, so I feel OK about them restarting hips/knees etc. kellyr21 - it's amazing how dependent we are on electricity! We have had our ACs running full tilt for the past week, and today is the first day we've had them off - such a relief! I snuck a peek at LA weather - your temps are a little lower than ours, but we have the awful humidity that cranks the heat up an extra 10 degrees above what the thermometer says! We're heading on a road/beach trip tomorrow - we're going to explore a couple of new towns and beaches along Lake Erie. Might as well head to water when it's hot and sunny.

kitbop , I hope you have a wonderful time getting away for a while. Linda , is your DS out of the military now? no - he's still active duty but his Command said only essential workers on base and only when they are essential. He is essential but he's still working a lot less hours than pre-pandemic. And while the local area has loosened up on restrictions some, the Navy hasn't

Good Tuesday evening! Our little birthday celebration went well. Dgs was happy to help make the cheesecake and its crust. We were lucky, though. It just came out of the oven at noon and the power went off. I let it cool on the rack for about an hour then put it into the "beer fridge" to cool. There was alot of coke zero stocked in there, and it cooled the cheesecake nicely. Dh went to check and the power line across our property from the road had gone down in the wind from the quick storm that went through here. I called the power company right away and thankfully they immediately sent out a crew. But the electricity was not reconnected until after 7:00PM. It was a good thing the cake was baked and we had already planned on pizza picked up in town for supper. I actually like small gatherings for birthdays where you can visit with everyone, and they are not too much work. But to be honest, I am still really sad that people will not be arriving tomorrow or Thursday for the family reunion we had planned... Thinking of you and your family, LisaDV. Hoping you are getting your feet under you. You, too, knutschen. This pandemic has hit so many people financially. And losing a job can really play havoc with a man's sense of self worth. Hoping everyone can come back to a lifestyle they are comfortable with. Hope you had a wonderful road trip, kitbop! Can't wait to see the photos of all your adventures. And your pages of your dancing diva photos! I actually got my weekend photos printed on Sunday, but have not had a minute to sit down and put a page together. I am way behind in checking out the Gallery, the Sharing thread, and your videos, kellyr21. Hope to get a few minutes to myself at some time this week, but dd and dgs will be here until Monday. They did alot of weeding for me over the weekend, so I owe them some time and attention now...

grammadee, it sounds like your cheesecake came out at the perfect time. Sorry about your power. How nice to sit outside and visit with family. How is your son? Linda, if your DS is not on the base he is probably getting some lonely times. I hope he can visit by phone and feel connnected. I am so far behind on checking out everyone's projects. I keep thinking I will get a minute to sit down and enjoy them. We have had some type of Dr. appt every day this week and another tomorrow. It seems they all came at once. I am seeing all the doctors the Infectious Disease doctor referred me to. No great answers so far, but I still have 3 more to see. I am on a daily antibiotic so haven't had any further trouble, but they all want me off that if they can find another answer. I finished my sheetload cards for the Card Challenge posted by azcrafty. I will try to get them posted tonight. I have loved doing them. Have a great weekend if I don't get back here tomorrow.

I am way behind checking out the Gallery and the sharing thread too. but theses are busy days. I felt like a hunter/gatherer today Didnt have to actually butcher the chicken, but i did have to drive to pick it up freshly butchered from the people who raise them. Then we dug our own new potatoes and onions and picked peas. In the winter I can cook a full meal with 20 min prep work In summer it takes all day... Hope those doctors find some answers SOON, nylene Fingers crossed. My ds's foot was not as bad as they first thought, so he was able to go with no surgery. And he can drive, since it is his left foot and he has only automatic transmissions on their vehicles. I did alot of errand running when I was there, and drove ddil to her appointments a couple of times and the boys to a practice. But they will be fine.

nylene - I hope someone has some insight for you! Antibiotics are hard on the body. grammadee - I so hear you on the fresh garden food workload. I stood preparing overripe strawberries for sauce yesterday for an hour, and washing the garden lettuce, yikes! The thunderstorms sure do fill lettuce with dirt. My cucumbers are so far behind because I had to plant from seed, late. I hope they produce!

nylene - yes, he's off-base, living alone in an apartment, and he's lonely Prayers that the doctors can find a good solution so you don't have to stay on daily antibiotics. ((((Hugs))) grammadee -glad the celebration went well even with the power outage. kitbop - we don't have garden but have been buying more fresh produce plus our produce box - it does take a lot of prep work janesays - awesome - looking forward to seeing your creations We took one of the kitties into the vet today - kerbside appointment, they collected her, and then came back out to tell us they were keeping her for a few hours. They did an x-ray and she needed an enema. She's back home now and seems to be feeling much better except for the part where she's obviously still mad at us. I've been fighting a headache most of the day so haven't accomplished much.

We took one of the kitties into the vet today What was wrong with your kitty??? We have 4. 2 outdoors, 2 indoors. Our biggest wildest orneriest outdoor Tom came home last week with a blown eye/pupil which was bulging a bit from his head. We thought he'd gotten a claw or stick in the eye. Rushed him to the vet who said eye looks OK, he thinks head trauma (and then we noticed that the whole side of his head was a little swollen). "keep him indoors"..."bring him back on Saturday" HAH! That cat clawed his way through 2 different windows - he can literally push a window open and claw through a screen in 5 minutes. He's been out twice, and luckily always comes home for breakfast so we nabbed him this morning for his return to the vet. He is hungry, seems happy (meaning, his growls at everyone unless you are feeding him ham), not off balance and certainly not lacking for his normal smarts (see window/screen issues...) so I think his concussion is only going to cost him vision in one eye, lucky cat.

Glad he'll be mostly okay. our only female -who is petite and the BOSS - started losing weight, she didn't have any spare to lose to be honest. Turns out she was constipated so they cleaned her out and gave her back to us a few hours later. She's made it clear she did not enjoy her adventure. We have 5 total - all indoor although two of them (including our little princess) were outdoor kitties for some years and they were all born outside (the other three came inside as kittens)

linda, I hope your kitty is still doing alright. DH job that could have been permanent didn't work out. They have placed him currently taking temperatures at one of the hospitals. The city council voted in a city mask ordinance that will last 90 days. I haven't been out much but may have to today some. My youngest niece is here from KC again. We are celebrating my mom's b-day today. I am trying to figure out a time of us getting together today. I am off for a few days and don't have to return to work till Wednesday. I ordered a new couch from Wayfair and need to figure out what to do with my old futon I have used for 20+ years. It isn't supposed to arrive till August 7th. I hope that I can maybe donate it. We have a heat advisory today. I wouldn't mind swimming some today but not knowing when we are getting together is stopping from going. My laptop is about to go dead and need to plug it back in for a bit. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

knutschen -kitty seems to be feeling better - she's certainly getting into enough mischief. Sorry about the job not panning out but glad that he has some work for now. Enjoy your time off! Ran errands this morning and have been researching genealogy the rest of the day in between checking in on my virtual Pampered Chef party. I'm not usually one for mlm stuff but my best local friend (like a sister really) lost her second job due to the pandemic and decided to become a PC consultant. So I'm helping her out.

Loved the story about Mr Independence in your life, kitbop. We once locked two cats in the garage so that they could work out their differences and become room mates. (which worked in the end, as 5 years later they are definitely a TEAM). The first night, one of them went right through the window screen. He too returned when he was hungry. Dh had put in a cat door with a lock where the screen had been. The next night he disappeared again. Turned out he figured out how to unlock the cat door. Glad your kitty has recovered, Linda. Dd's house dog who is on specialized food for her digestion decided to pig out on Friday on our farm dog's food which was in the garage. That evening she had no appetite, (well, duh...) but overnight and all of yesterday she was really uncomfortable and lethargic. Dd was thinking she needed to take her home to the vet. Even made an appointment for Monday morning. But after finally working the kibble through her system, this morning she seems completely back to normal. Even joined the farm dogs outside for a very noisy squirrel hunt. And has been galloping into the kitchen to check if anyone is preparing food, checking for the tasty bits that might fall. Okay, must get busy. Dd & dgs and I are planning to take the kayak to the lake for a bit. We had planned to end with a wiener roast out there, but forecast is for rain later, so I think we will come back here for supper. So I just need to pack up drinks and snacks, not a full meal and all the supplies & wood for a fire.

Have a great visit with your Mom, justjac. I had signed up for the ScrapHappy mini Load but did not create any pages for it on time. Do have some photos selected to use for the different colours of the rainbow, though. Dd & dgs left this morning after picking up the puppy at our neighbours'. I drove over there behind them to grab some pic's before they were on their way. I posted them with TapaTalk in the July Photo Challenge thread. Went onto the computer shortly after they left, but BitDefender was causing all kinds of problems for me, so I called the Geek Squad from Best Buy. They worked remotely for a couple of hours and told me there is some kind of problem between Photo Bucket and Microsoft Edge that caused my virus ware to go crazy. They ended up switching everything to Firefox. Hoping that works better. Have a list of cards I need to create to be mailed out on Wednesday but think now I will need to leave them until tomorrow to work on. Have a marvelous Monday and a great rest of the week!

wow - awesome layouts justjac - you rocked that miniLOAD! Sorry about the rain for the bbq - glad that you were able to move it inside. Enjoy your visit! grammadee - sory about the computer issues - glad that the Geek Squad was able to help. Not a very productive week so far - Monday was our weekly housework day. The girls help which is nice. Didn't really get anything else done though. Today I slept in and got off to a slow start. Did manage a little scrapbooking and also set up a phone conference tomorrow to 'interview' a realtor. We're about ready to start looking at houses. We're not in a rush - want to wait and find the right place. Dh is taking some time off this week - tomorrow afternoon and then Th and Fri. He's been working long hours so needs a break.

Linda , you are house hunting? That sounds pretty exciting! Here is hoping you find the perfect home. just at the very beginning of the process, we've gotten pre-approved for a mortgage and we're looking for a realtor. I'm excited to finally be looking for a site-built house - our last two were both mobile homes. There's not much on the market here so it may be a slow process but we're okay with that.

Boy, am I behind this month! For being "sheltered in place" our lives have been crazy. DH got a piece of metal in his eye and we had to make a quick trip to the Dr. to have it removed. It was embedded in the cornea, and it was easily removed. But it had rusted (apparently not uncommon) so they used a tiny drill to drill out the rust! It was really sore for 2 days, but is ok now. His saw that he is using on the projects he's doing for work started acting up. We went to Home Depot to check out a new one and then took the old one to be repaired. It didn't look like it was worth fixing, so we went back to HD and I had the credit card in the machine when he got a call from the repairman, that it was fixed! We stopped the sale and went back to find that in internal bolt had broken. The repair was $26, as opposed to $350 for a new one. All this running around has cut into my "online" and scrap time. I hope that I will get some time this weekend to get caught up. kellyr21 , thanks for your latest video. They are really fun. I love your cute ruffly flowers. Linda , I didn't know you were looking into moving. Will it be a local move or are you leaving your current area? I'm glad your kitty is better. kitbop , I am sorry about your poor kitty. Maybe he will learn to stay inside. I hope he heals well. justjac , I love your LOAD layouts. I don't know how you do that. I am a slow scrapper! I will check them out more closely in the gallery. knutschen , I am sorry things didn't work out for DH. I hope he finds something just right for him that he can enjoy. Hugs to you. I tended Alex yesterday while Em was with her DD in SLC for a surgical procedure for her abdominal issues. They think they have found an answer. I didn't accomplish anything with DGS here. He did ask me to help him make a "Delorean" card, which actually turned out nice. He also cut a slit in a card and turned it into a pop up fish. Not sure where he learned that, but it was cute. I had forgotten how much attention he needs! LOL I will be back later to check out all your projects. I need to fix lunch.
