We played this back in January (ah, our naive days from pre-pandemic times!) and I thought I'd bring it back 6 full months after we first finished it. I've enjoyed doing this along with the Peas and got inspired by the daily lists of stuff that were posted. The rules are extremely simple. On day 1, you get rid of 1 thing. On day 2, you get rid of 2 things. On day 3, 3 things and so on! Does the idea of getting rid of 30 things on day 30 scare you? Fear not, there are PLENTY of things you own so much of... You will fill your donate and trash boxes pretty quickly. By the end of the month, if you've managed to go all the way, you'll have rid your home of 465 items! You can play along for ANYTHING. Scrappy goods, home stuff, clothes, pantry goods, etc. Whatever's in your home is good to literally go! The way you decide what stays and what goes is up to you. Some people love the spark joy method, others prefer to a more pragmatic approach. There's no right or wrong way to do this. Ideas for scrapbook stuff: Project Life cards, pattern paper sheets, old rub-ons, washi tape rolls, mixed media you haven't used in ages, etc. Ideas for home stuff: spice jars, beauty and makeup products, old towels, ill-fitting clothes, board games, etc. You can pick anything on any day, no need to categorise (except if you're really up for the extra challenge, that is). The only thing to keep in mind is to be respectful of other people's property. Don't donate stuff that doesn't belong to you or could upset someone else. Our homes are filled with stuff and we're going to be stuck in our homes for quite a few more months until it's safe to resume "normal" life. Now's the perfect moment to get motivated and start working on clearing some physical and mental space. Who's in and how long will you last?...

I'm already playing this game with the weeds in my garden. I'm not enjoying myself, but the garden is slowly starting to look better.

Last year I did the throw out/donate 100 things challenge and loved it. I love a good purge. So I'm in. I wonder how long I'll last.

I wonder how long I'll last. Just keep your PL cards for the later days in the month and you're set.

I’m in although I always wonder if I will find more. I recently got rid of a ton of stuff from my scrapbook room and the attic.

I'm in. I've been looking for a reboot activity to get back to cleaning out the extras in the house. I got dragged down with inactivity during the last couple of months. I need something to start up the inertia again.

I'll join. I got rid of a ton of stuff so far with my move (we're talking I donated 500+ books this year), but I have more to purge!

I’m in although I always wonder if I will find more. I recently got rid of a ton of stuff from my scrapbook room and the attic. There's always more stuff hiding in plain sight. And hey, if you get to, say, day 15 and realise there's nothing more to get rid of, you'll be the ultimate winner because you'll have everything just right! It's a win-win game... I need something to start up the inertia again. At your cheerleading service! The January thread was fun and had several of us powering through all the way. Hope this is just what you need to get your mojo back.

Thank you for posting this game. I'm willing to give it a try!
I've been purging little by little since last year but there's always more! Donated over 3,700 sheets of patterned paper last summer!
The downside is the thrift stores are closed so my garage has quite the pile of things to take already. What's a few more items?!?.

sleepingbooty, I almost got rid of my wedding dress yesterday so I’m sure I’m going to find lots. My kids rooms are loaded with stuff too. Out it all goes.

I plan to go through all my holiday decorating boxes and purge most of it. DH built me shelving in our furnace room to hold Rubbermaid bins. I want to use some of it for extra food/paper products, since I am trying to shop less often due to COVID.
I am also looking to downsize next year.

I’ll play along with my classroom and the teaching stuff in my basement. It is in need of a major purge before school starts in September.

Not sure I can play along, but I just took a bin of blocks to goodwill last week. Probably at least 300 pieces- that would be perfect for the later days of the month!

I'm already playing this game with the weeds in my garden. I'm not enjoying myself, but the garden is slowly starting to look better. me too! I’m using Decluttering at the Speed of Life’s visibility principle to tidy up my front yard. Starting with the weeds I see when I approach the house and moving up towards the door each day. I’ve been decluttering more by asking “would I even know I had one of these and go looking for it?” when I find weird things I have stashed that I forgot about. I’m not sure I will play along by the rules, but I am decluttering along with you all

Looks like many of us are itching to clear some space up *for real*! Like joblackford , I need to make room to store what I'm stocking up for in preparation for the madness that'll be autumn and winter with this virus still floating about.

I need to play along! I have DD’s car trunk full of donations, once we find somewhere to accept them. Right now I am listing the bigger items on FB Marketplace. My problem has been that I find it much easier and fun to buy stuff on FB Marketplace, than selling it!🥴 I was happy to sell this today!😁

I purged about 3 dozen plastic Easter eggs, a metal "basket", and about a dozen cheap Easter wind-up toys. I put what was left in a new, smaller bin.

I found headphones this morning that have the super small plug in on them - so they don't fit any of our current devices I don't think. August 1 item - check! But it does leave me wondering - what did I buy these headphones for?

Got rid of 34 washis today and a bunch of other stuff. Probably 60-70 items. I should have waited but I’m in a roll.

Anything you've decluttered since this thread was started can be claimed retroactively for your 30-day challenge! Motivation is motivation and shouldn't have a time limit. Go ahead and set those early totals aside for August.
