I can't believe I'm starting yet another MEGAAA thread (that Studio Calico sale reference is here to stay ) but here we are: welcome to the cosy nook by the fire for all things October Daily, autumn/fall album. The year is 2020 and everything's scary but let's take back control and make the creepy factor ours again! Let's get spooky & kooky... PSL, apple pies, horror movies, carving pumpkins, hearty soups and stews, physically distant + safe Halloween celebrations, seasonal décor, adapted family traditions, putting away all things summer, scary Snapchat filter selfies, etc. The change of season is but a month away. With the pandemic, many of us will be spending a lot of time at home which means bonus crafty hours! Come use up your Halloween and fall stash. Come make a pretty album or junk journal. Tell the small stories, the big stories, the non-stories. Keep your mind and hands busy as we wait this virus out. What are your plans? October Daily, autumn stories album, LOs? Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? What are you adding to your October agenda this year? How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic?

I’ve done them before, but I’ll play along and do a OctDaily mixed media album.
I’m using solely from stash, Halloween has always been huge for me and it’s what I have the most of in supplies.
As for what we will be doing in October—who knows!! Lol

What are your plans? | Unsure. Either a "regular" album or I may go in for an actual October Daily depending on the amount of free time I have available. Either way, I'll be making an album and joining in on the fun!
Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? | I only have a micro stash. I definitely plan on getting a few pretties from Pebbles' new Halloween line, Spoooky and Carta Bella's gorgeous Halloween Market. The fun part of October albums is that they embrace the weirdness and you can mix up ALL the Halloween aesthetics without a care in the world!
What are you adding to your October agenda this year? | Movie marathons, baking (which I'm not a huge fan of but what's a girl to do these days?) and hopefully some nice walks in the countryside (must. plan. car. rentals. ahead. of. time).
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? | I don't come from a Halloween country so it's been pretty much my thing so far. No Halloween party with friends at our place this year and, alas, no Disneyland Paris trip either. I think I'll be attempting a home-made PSL and I'll probably watch loads of Halloween-themed Disney stuff to make up for the resort trip.

What are your plans? A fall themed album. I'm thinking 8x8. Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? I have a good amount of fall themed supplies but Carta Bella Hello Autumn is calling to me. What are you adding to your October agenda this year? All the fall things we love. Food, drinks, clothes, decor, traditions, light up the fireplace, use the fire pit in the backyard, fall scented candles, a few movie marathons, and more! How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? I will have to give this one some thought.

What are your plans? Not sure what plan I have, maybe layouts? But I'd love to also do a separate smaller album. Maybe. Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? I'll be using stash, but I love fall lines so I'll probably grab some new supplies if I can't resist. What are you adding to your October agenda this year? I'm not sure yet, colder weather makes me grumpy so maybe I'll find me a nice warm cozy blanket and find some new Netflix or Hulu shows to watch. How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? We usually take a couple of fall trips that won't be happening this year, nor will any of the fall festivals that we always go to so we'll probably just do a few outings that are within driving distance and not overnighters or weekends.

What are your plans? Probably an Oct Daily since I have never done a true daily album, usually I just do a list of things I love about December and things we do to celebrate, I don’t know what size, likely 6x8. Need to make sure I have a black album in that size.
Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties?
I have a ton of stuff to use, but some of that old/new Pebbles line will be coming home since I don’t have any for some reason.
What are you adding to your October agenda this year?
Just adding more cooking since I will have plenty of time. Will be looking here for idea though!
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic?
Well, since I think traditional T or T is out I will be getting orange and black eggs for the kids in my family and having Halloween hunts for them. I will be cooking as many creepy themed meals as I can, watching a lot of horror movies- actual horror and my favorite black and white classics and a whole bunch of Vincent Price flicks. We are very lucky to have a local theater that hosts an all night horrorthon, but I can’t imagine that it will be happening this year, so that is a huge bummer. They also usually show Phantom of the Opera with live organ and we usually go to that along with various other movies they show throughout the month. Fortunately they have a video store so I think I will be haunting the selection there to make our own movie nights. I think we will still have jack o lantern carving, at least I hope so!
I also love to read creepy books in October, well anytime, but I try to only read creepy books in October. I have read only Poe’s work one year. Last year I read all of Shirley Jackson’s work, anyone have any suggestions for an author to highlight this year?
I am super excited about this!!!!

I always do layouts for the kids albums - pumpkin patch, decorations, carving pumpkins, costumes.
But I think I am going to try making a travelers style notebook and make an October Daily.
So far I am thinking of documenting:
Choosing a costume Pumpkin Patch First soup of fall Pumpkin patch Decorating a pumpkin Inside decor Pumpkin donuts PS coffee Halloween night dinner (Fiestaware) Halloween decor night drive Halloween night Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown Dogs in their costumes Carving pumpkin/lighted up carved pumpkin
I think I am going to get a different collection than what I have (CP) to mix it up a bit.

Look at that handsome guy up above!!!🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤 Do you know I watch The Nightmare Before Christmas on November 1st every year? (which doesn't mean I don't also watch it in October) Picking up the story where it starts. Can't help myself! November 1st is Pumpkin King day! And November 2nd is reserved for Coco because it's the Day of the Dead... I am super excited about this!!!! Halloween night dinner (Fiestaware) I had to Google Fiestaware! Colourful American dishes, right? (me trying to figure out which cultural reference I'm missing here)

Given that I don’t think weekly or monthly PL is in the cards this year (just going to order photo books instead cuz I ain’t got that time!), one-off projects like DD or OD (is this going to be the new acronym, lol) are appealing.
So I’ll bite
What are your plans? October Daily, autumn stories album, LOs? Probably more of an autumn stories album. Dare I try to premake everything and go day by day?
Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? God knows I don’t need more stuff. But I don’t have a lot of fall-themed or colored items. I might pick up one paper pack.
What are you adding to your October agenda this year? Having a little pancake means being forced to do more stuff, ha. So I will seek out a more socially distant pumpkin patch. We have done apple picking before, and a lot of those places also do pumpkins later in the year. Halloween costumes for sure. Painting pumpkins with the little one.
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? We don’t have a lot of traditions but one thing I would do without the pandemic is go to some of the city’s street fairs/festivals. I doubt they’re being held this year. We also like to go to breweries for Octoberfest. Doubt that will happen this year.

First, Love this thread, and the energy it brings!😁
I'm sure I'll make autumn & Halloween layouts to add to my everyday album. I have some Halloween paper, but I'm sure I have lots of oranges, browns, reds, creams, and golds too.
Halloween will have our own household party, so I'll take lots of photos of that.

What are your plans? I don’t know. I might have to do ‘something’ to pass the month. I did like my positivity passport in July and I’m missing that in August. But maybe not quite as simple as I did that one but not too elaborate either.
Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? well I have no specific halloween paper but I have stamps & some swap items from way way back in the day that should be given a proper home. So I’ll say stash. But I’m not refusing to buy goodies. Apparently that is how I’m coping with the pandemic ! Buy stuff.
What are you adding to your October agenda this year? prayer. Lots of prayer that we can keep this at bay enough to do a couple of things.
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? no idea, I like to go to farms & such but that can be super crowded on weekends and I’m not comfortable with that. Especially since the farm locations seem to coincide with areas not taking this thing seriously.

I've followed along with Shimelle's September "Learn Something New Every Day" project a few times and coincidentally was looking at my last completed journal this morning - before I came upon this thread. Very mixed media, I chose a word for each day and created a page focused on what I'd learned (as per the project) without slavishly journalling the day's events. Just when I was finally struggling to remember what event prompted that - at time, weird - thought, I reached the last page and found my calendar listing. Glad I included that.
I'm tempted to begin something similar this October. It might focus my mind a bit! Thank you for the nudge!

What are your plans? just layouts in the family album - maybe an excuse to go back and catch up on some previous Octobers
Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? stash for sure
What are you adding to your October agenda this year? I'm not sure - I think we're losing the two big October events for us (Trick or Treating now my youngest is 13 and Fall photos at the pumpkin patch - thanks covid)
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? not sure

I LOVE the idea of an October Daily, as Christmas tends to be too hard to do. (I seem to spend most of December dealing with extended family crap) We are big on Fall/Halloween doings, so it makes sense. What are your plans? October Daily, autumn stories album, LOs? Good question! We generally take a road trip, so we may or may not do that this year. DH and DD birthdays are both in October and DS is November, so will for sure be doing birthday scrapbooking. We will be working on costumes (although we seem to go as Leia and Han every other year, so not sure...and not sure what actual Halloween will look like. We also go to the Apple Orchard, so that may look different. Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? I don't know...I have so much good stuff. I really like the older collections for Halloween and I have some great stuff left, including some Rusty Pickle halloween stack. I also fell in love with Pink Paislee SpellCast, so I may have to try and pick up more of that. I am sad to say I don't love all of Carta Bella's new Halloween line. Some is ok, but it is so black, orange and white ...I really wanted to love it. So I may trawl through some older lines and see what I missed during the 5 years I quit scrapbooking to do grad school. What are you adding to your October agenda this year? More long walks, a return to the dog park in the early morning hours How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? I want to try making my own carameled apples, we always get them at the orchard because they are SOOOOO good! (They make their own caramel from scratch) I also want to try (like really really try) to make apple pie with a lattice top. I am too lazy, so I usually just throw the crust on the top. Last year I made this beauty smittenkitchen.com/2016/11/cheesecake-marbled-pumpkin-slab-pie/ and it was AMAZING. This is a great thread, thank you.

What are your plans? I think an October/Halloween Through the Years Album---If my dd is able to be on campus this Fall we will officially be "empty nesters" and I have a ton of Halloween photos from the early years to scrap. We are also big Harry Potter fans and I have a big HP album from various parties, book launches, and visits to HP World that I need to finish. Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? I have a fair amount of spooky stash for the HP album, but not so much Halloween specific supplies, so may pick up a few items here and there. What are you adding to your October agenda this year? I think I will be taking lots of local Fall foliage pics when I take the dog on endless neighborhood walks, and probably do more homey cooking/baking. How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? I may modify the Halloween decor because we will either have very few, or no, trick-or-treaters this year I probably also won't do a costume since the big neighborhood halloween party will most likely be cancelled

Ok, I'll bite (in true vampire form). Last time I did an October album was 2012! I don't do December, I prefer October. I may give it a go this year....
What are your plans? | Not sure, but I may continue using the HS Storyline Chapters planner book that I've been using for daily documenting. Or maybe I will create a separate mini album?! hmmm....
Will you be using your stash? Will you be buying new pretties? | Stash - I love Halloween lines, but I generally only scrap maybe 1 or 2 halloween layouts, so I have plenty. I tend to buy them bcz of cats, esp black cat (pictured left <<<<).
What are you adding to your October agenda this year? | I am hoping that we can still do some outdoor things...I wonder if corn mazes will still happen? But at least foliage looking, hikes, pumpkins, farm market, etc. I generally always photograph my Halloween mantle decor and scrap that. And yes, I tend to dress up for fun photoshoots and dress my cats for no particular reason except my own enjoyment. Also baking and cooking soups, stews, etc. It's a big food prep season for me.
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? | We will see...I am assuming there will be no trick-or-treaters, so that will be different. Hopefully not too much else will change.
October is also just a big clean up the yard time for me and plan for next season and this year I will be getting into some more projects like that. I also have a full movie lineup: Nightmare Before Christmas and Garfield's Halloween are my favs. Hoping there is a new part of Sabrina on Netflix by then, and I think Stranger Things maybe coming back in October?!
On another note, not sure if those of you get Victoria Marie's newsletter, but she is looking to host a October crop with a Halloween/Harry Potter/dress up theme...which I am on board.

I'm going to do this too, but rather than making a separate album it'll be a handful of pages in my family album. I'm going to make a greater effort to take more pictures this year, and of ordinary things, not just events. Can I make a suggestion for your watch lists? We have a tradition of watching Over the Garden Wall sometime in October every year. The story has maybe 10 short episodes, so it's not a big time commitment, and the voice cast includes Elijah Wood, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry. It's really well done! ETA: (not really Halloween, but so what? ) What We Do in the Shadows

I think I'd like to try some sort of October Daily. Maybe, creating daily like #100 day project or memory keeping like Dec Daily. If i use a daily memory project similar to DD, I will definitely need to create an album in advance. Even if I don't use the album as it is, it is a great jumping off point.

Rather than a single year, I've been wanting/planning to do a cumulative Halloween book of "favorites" from decor to movies, to coffee cups to favorite villains, candy, to an array of all things Halloween. I'd like to come up with something where I can add new stuff as needed every year. I don't have/do enough (as much as I love Halloween) to devote an entire album to every year individually. But there's a lot of stuff I love and have loved that I'd like to document and be ale to look back through every year.

First of all, this sounds FUN!!! I love Halloween. I need an escape from real life.
What are your plans? I'm not sure, but I need to come up with one. As evidenced from my I don't have a scrap space thread.
Will you be using your stash? Definitely using old stash. Maybe buying more. Not sure.
What are you adding to your October agenda this year? I do have an ongoing 8.5x11 Halloween album for my kids in their costumes. I think it will be fun to throw some different pages in there. I've never done an October Daily, so..... I'm thinking photos of my decorations, photos of pumpkins on the front porch, pages about my favorite movies, favorite Halloween treats? Also finishing the Halloween costume pages. They are probably my favorites to make!
I haven't decided if it's my son's last year Trick or Treating or not. Probably, with the pandmemic. He hates it anyway. I make him go to practice being social. It will be a good transition into something different in the Halloween album.
How are you adapting some of your favourite traditions to the pandemic? Meh, I don't know. That's what I love about Halloween. There isn't pressure to keep the same traditions! Just do what sounds fun. I do want to get the fog machine going for sure again this year.

I think I might use it as a photo per day challenge for myself. I love this idea! Ooh, me too. I hadn't really considered doing this project. We like Halloween and fall stuff, but it's not that big a part of our lives. But reading everyone's enthusiastic plans I'm thinking that maybe I will do something. If I can make vol.2 of the virus diaries cover July-end of Sept I could use my 3rd Chapters notebook for a fall pandemic album. Maybe a daily page, or just a free-for-all fall & Halloween themed TN type of thing, maybe transitioning to a November gratitude thing. I don't have much stash but I also don't need much. Maybe some of the stickers Layle by Mail has been using in her TN classes. I might stock up on planner stickers and die cuts rather than scrapbook stuff. I'm not sure if we'll be able to offer no-contact trick or treat bags for kids - probably not, unless things get much better or surface-transmission is disproved. So it'll be yard cleanup, movies and books, fall cooking (carrot sweet potato soup with spiderweb cream), and not much else. None of my dress-up friends will be game to meet up unless there's a vaccine, and the library is unlikely to be able to host their Trick or Treat, so probably no costuming or anything fun like that. But I like the idea of just playing around and making a page each day (or few days).

Face palm. Might have to take a step back and see if I really want to do this or I'm just riding along on your collective excitement.
