I found this inexpensive stamp/die set on Amazon ($10) in case folks are interested. I've not bought this exact one, but I've bought other similar ones. They're definitely more flimsy than the higher-priced ones, but they work well enough for me. I don't think they're anyone's design copy. I did a bit of looking on google. But if they are, lmk, I'll take them down. Definitely a copy. That's Little Haunters from Hello Bluebird. I have them and love 'em! HB have done some of my favourite Halloween critter (and ghost!) releases over the years.

🤦♀️ It just dawned on me. October isn't cosy, autumnal, sweater weather, Halloween season here in NZ so I don't get into the October daily. ....I could do flip this on its head and document a Spring October. Duh Please repost this as a reminder in 10.5 months.... * I am an actual doofus I grew up in NZ and so many holidays didn't make sense to me until I spent quite a few years in the Northern Hemisphere. Like Easter - I always asked why eggs? Oh, makes perfect sense when your hens start laying again in the spring after the long dark winter. But our upside down Easter was the season for Harvest fairs - the Easter Show in Auckland is exactly like the late summer/early fall county fair - doh! It took me years to notice some of that stuff. Pumpkins are probably ripe in April in NZ, right? Not that Auckland has a particularly distinct autumn (or at least not in my memory). Mother's Day is all spring flowers in the Northern Hem. but in NZ it would be in autumn like Easter. 🙃 Halloween was a fun excuse for us kids to dress up as Like a Virgin Madonna in the 80s, but it wasn't a seasonal holiday because it was in the wrong season. You should absolutely do a Spring October Daily if you want to! Or do an April Autumn Daily full of sweater weather things and Easter eggs! lol

How's the weather today peas? Right down freezing this morning when I took my daughter to work; 32 degrees! High of 65 today, but it has been windy. Of course I had to dust off my riding boots to pick up my daughter and get a prescription. My outings in public have been very limited the last few months. I think it had been at least 6 months since I'd been into a big box store when I went to Walmart last week. TV died; priorities.
My husband went to the bigger town near-ish us and bought Halloween candy, 50% off! It's for us. Also groceries. We should be good for a couple of weeks. I started watching The Craft and got interrupted. I think I have about 30 minutes left. It's a new one for me and it's enjoyable. Not really scary either.
Maybe get a Jack O' Lantern pizza from Papa Murphy's for dinner? I see all these great ideas on Pinterest, but I am unable to set a schedule and stick to it because of my crazy youngest child. It's actually been quite freeing to just do what works for us on any holiday. Hopefully we can all agree on a movie.

Today I had to walk downtown to deliver out ballots to the election drop box (yay!) and post some mail, so I took some colorful leaf photos. The pin oak that nicolep helped me identify last year is looking really good. Hoping to make some progress on printing photos and getting the album laid out this weekend. I also discovered that Something Wicked This Way Comes is much easier to get through as an audiobook instead of as a bedtime kindle read, and I finished Small Spaces by Katherine Arden and once I’m done with Bradbury I’ll listen to her sequel, which is a winter ghost story. I’m behind on my spooky movies, but I might be able to watch one tomorrow. http://instagr.am/p/CGbQoq7A7Y6

You should totally do an Easterween or Hallospring album, scrappydo! Both seasons are worthy of documenting. refugeepea Weather here is getting pretty chilly. My mother's knitting me merino wool socks for the winter (cold stone floors) and I've already brought out the polar fleece jacket and plaid. We had 21°C/70°F this afternoon but the evenings and mornings are significantly cooler. joblackford Oooh, pretty leaves! I love that intense shade of blood red. Very Halloween-appropriate! I noticed the leaves are slowly but surely starting to change here as well. Cannot deny it any longer: winter is coming. *dun dun dun*

I just did something naughty: went and placed an order at ShopDisney France. I got the WDW Minnie the Witch mug that comes with a candy corn witch hat for Halloween. And a couple of other things, ahem. She was just too cute. And I really miss Disneyland. Halloween season is always so beautifully done in the park. *shakes fist at the proverbial pandemic in the sky*

I worked in my album today, made a lot of progress. It wasn’t easy, stressed me out big time, but that might’ve just been life and the guys cutting concrete next door. I’ll do a little bit more to finish what I’ve started and then I’ll take some pictures tomorrow. Hopefully when I look at the pages tomorrow I will like them! I’ll try to lay off the caffeine too, because maybe that’s what the anxiety was all about. sleepingbooty I love that mug. So fun. I hope it helps...

Are you missing your notebook journal from earlier this year?

October 18. It's getting chilly although it's still sunny. We borrowed a car for a couple of hours and drove just outside the city for an improvised picnic with rosé and quiche. Super chill but oh so nice of a change from the apartment. The leaves are turning yellow now and it's undeniably autumnal everywhere I look. I'm almost up to date with the photos and cut-down cards in my mini album, woohoo! Just a couple of days missing. I've started numbering the days as well so the big task now is to print + cut + stick down the journaling strips. I can do it, I can do it, I can do it! *chants mantra to self* Concerto of the day (in one of the best interpretations ever of the Four Seasons ever made - Carmignola with the Venice Baroque Orchestra):

Honestly 2020 is a bit of a struggle all by itself. Anxiety is high all around.
Take care of yourself what ever that may be. Wether it’s documenting or not documenting.
For me crafting ( and craft shopping ) is still my escape from all of this. Thankfully. Although 2020 PL does occasionally give me serious pause, as yet another picture of ‘nothing’ graces my pages as 2020 is a lot of same sitting home with my dog.
At least fall has given me some colorful things to photograph.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this October album is a bit of a struggle. How do the pages look after a night of sleep? Are you happy with what you've done? Are you missing your notebook journal from earlier this year? I could, and probably should, write a long journal entry about all the ups and downs, pros and cons of my current album! But I think most of the problem yesterday was that Moste Potente Potion - full caff coffee! eek. I entertained the thought this morning of just calling it quits, ripping it apart. I needed to allow myself to choose - and remember that it's a choice. I looked through and saw some spots that needed more, and I'm about to design a Halloween movie checklist (while watching Halloween movies). I'm going to have 4 check boxes - seen it, this year, love it, hate it - so I can include a lot more films than what I will get to watch this year. So yes, doing better I think! I'll let you know this afternoon.

OK, here's my progress! I think you've seen the left side of this minus the labels, but not the right side: Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr This page needs some spiders or something: Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr October 3rd memes and books: Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Pumpkins. I'm not very good at doing the page a day thing so I'm not. I grew the little yellow and green ones! Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Movies (the printer gave me troubles, cutting edges off, but I'm pretending I don't care) and the movie list I made myself without too much agony/overthinking today: Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Mushrooming and lawn killing: Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Fall leaves: Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr More fall leaves (unfinished?) and the feral cat who sleeps on our porch, Simon Gruber (cousin of Hans, our Christmas visitor). My husband scared away the black cat Simon was yowling at just before I managed to hit the shutter - grrr! Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr And Coco! Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr That's it so far. Pretty close to caught up. Today I took a bunch of photos of Halloween decorations and pretty colored pumpkins instead of buying them. Pretty sure I don't want to do an album like this ever again, but it's coming together OK. For now it's being held together with a rubber band but I will stitch bind it when it's done.

I Love your pages! Those are really great! Those papers really suit your photos. The movie idea is great, I am totally going to borrow that for my book. Thank you! I had to try not to overthink the backgrounds since I can’t change them around as I go. But I’ve been a little flexible with which story goes where and now I see that the background match up surprisingly well. To some extent it’s luck/seeing connections because we like connections. I was pretty happy with the movie list page. It was a pretty easy way to highlight some favs and what kind of movies I like. I did it while watching Angelica Houston in The Witches on Netflix. Man, that movie is pretty bad! The effects... and bad voice overdubbing. But what a Ronald Dahl story. I think I liked the book. Speaking of bad movies... my husband showed me a bit of a preview for Gingerdead Man...? He over-saw someone watching it on a red eye flight. Looks like the worst thing ever. “A witch cooks up trouble when she revives her dead serial killer son as a giant psychopathic gingerbread man intent on killing the girl who had him executed.“ Gary Busey as the gingerdead man looks more like a talking turd. I will not be watching that. >.<

I’m working on a compilation October album, and it’s been hard! My pictures vary in quality so much. Those early iPhone pics were not great. But I’m working with what I got, and getting the memories in the book. I finished three pages today and sleuthed up some more photos from 2014 to get printed. My photo archives are a disaster, so it’s a feat just to get the pictures in hand!
I’d share if I knew how to post pics here.

Hope you enjoy some yummy drinks in it! Oh, I didn't know Shimelle got one, too. Thanks for sharing! It's a biiig mug. I think it holds over 600 mL. Most Disney lovers who got it seem to be using it as a storage jar so I think that's where I'm headed with this as well. After having used it for a nice, biiig cup of tea, that is... Aah, can't wait! ETA: Just checked and Minnie holds 625 mL. Not one for the T-rex! Also, she's now sold out on the French ShopDisney website so I'm extra happy I ordered her just in time. What a fun album and kudos to you for persevering despite the archival issue and photo quality fluctuation. I hope you're enjoying reliving all those Halloween memories! Are you using a special collection? joblackford Looking fabulous! I think it's still very much in the spirit of your pandemic journal, just a little less wordy and obviously filled with patterns. Still, the black and white theme suits this booklet so well. I love the contrast on the Falling Leaves especially. The spread about foggy days is pure magic (and has a flavour of NZ). I agree with Skellinton that the movie list idea is genius. Are some of these flicks a first-time watch for you this year?

Lol. sleepingbooty - I’ve got a big mix of collections! Lots of lovely old papers from years ago I collected as backdrops to photographing cute Halloween meals (I used to run a kids bento blog). And I’ve picked up sone recent AC stuff and other cuteness that caught my eye at SB. com. A couple EP collections from Tuesday Morning, and hunted down all the emphemeras from eBay and Etsy I needed to have. My Halloween stash went from near nothing to overwhelming in a hurry. Lol. I have about 20 years of Halloween to document though, so justified! Oh, and Paper Person Halloween Kit is on the way. 👻
