We have been working on stockpiling since February. I think we could probably go a month easily on what we have. We went school clothes shopping last weekend and I was shocked at how bare shelves are and the stores closing down. We are going to start working on Christmas shopping for my 8 yo dd. I’m not worried about my 17 yo because cash and gift cards would be fine with her. My problem is that I don’t do well keeping them. I bought a gift last week but instead of holding on to it I gave it to her already. This weekend we are going to inventory and replenish cold and flu supplies. We do this every year because after 10 pm we don’t have any stores open. We have to drive an hour each way to get any medicine. First winter after we moved here dd spiked a fever around midnight and we had nothing. After that we are always stocked. I stocked up on cold and flu stuff last January. In December, I started hearing my Chinese students talking about the bad flu that their families were discussing in China. Many of them were traveling home over winter break, and we also have several faculty who travel to China over break to teach winter session seminars at our partner university. I was still recovering from a severe respiratory illness (lasted from Thanksgiving until after New Years). I had gone through a lot of our medical supplies, and I was concerned about students traveling and bringing something back. They were all wearing masks around campus, and that’s when I started stocking up on food, medicine, and household supplies. I was able to get most of what I needed before the shortages started.

I'm definitely stocked.
I have plenty of wipes, a big Costco Germx, and a backup refill of hand soap.
For food, I have been stocking up as well. Other than fresh fruit and veggies, plus milk, I could go a month or more without needing much.
I have flour in the freezer, plenty of yeast and I even found a few cans of pumpkin too.
I have plenty of TP (I panicked purchased on the Spring and quickly rectified that behavior), was able to get a 3 pack of Kleenex and got an extra pack of 8 rolls of Paper Towels.
Good on cleaning supplies in general.
I feel good with where I'm at and will continue to restock as I use.

I live overseas so the only shortage here has been on fresh eggs really early on in the pandemic. I'm not worried about stocking up like I was in March. In fact, I'm trying to eat through a bunch of our back stock in case my husband is laid off (he works in oil) or because we decide to move back to the USA in the next year or so.

Last week I stocked up on cold and flu stuff. Still have a decent stockpile of supplies. I work at a grocery store so that makes it easier to keep a pantry supplied. I'm always at the store anyway so no homeshop or curbside pickup for me.
FWIW Clorox wipes are likely to be out of stock until next spring.

I've always had a pretty good stockpile of food and cleaning supplies. I typically have an extra of most things stashed away (garbage bags, soap, condiments, etc), when I open the one from the stash, it goes on the list.
We also always have enough food in the freezer/pantry for 2-4 weeks. I haven't really changed anything about how I shop and don't plan to.

My mom had a habit of buying a new bottle or container of something shortly after opening a new one so that there was always a new bottle of whatever in the cabinet. Emptied the shampoo? Grab the new bottle and put it on the list and it was bought on the next trip to the store. I got into that habit when it comes to most stuff so there's always a bottle of mouthwash, shampoo, soap, cleaning wipes, etc in the cabinet somewhere. I do this with bathroom products, cleaning products and shelf stable food. This has been useful because the teenagers rarely tell me when something's empty. Nothing like finding out the ranch dressing was practically empty when I had a salad but hey, I had a new bottle! I have always been this way, too. I rarely buy one of something, usually I buy 2. I stocked up in February and have been trying to keep it up. I scored 2 store brand packages of disinfecting wipes last week at Hy-Vee. I have what we have always called the Costco shelf in our furnace room. I keep my extra stuff there.

I haven't stockpiled anything, but I do have a decent supply of toilet paper. I am not going to get caught worrying if I will run out again. LOL If I ever again see Clorox Cleaner with Bleach, I may stockpile that. That has been my favorite cleaner for years. I use it to clean bathrooms and my kitchen, and I have rarely seen it since March. I did find it a couple of weeks ago, and I bought one bottle. That is the one thing I look for every time I go to a store. My mother loves this stuff and it is very hard to find in our area also. I look for her every time I go some place that may have it, and I have not seen it since March. The last month or so she has found it twice at a smaller independent grocery store in a town near our camp. They had a limit of 1 but she was happy to find it twice and since we only have about another month and a half of our camp being opened she is stocking up when she finds it there. Good luck, hope you can find some soon.

My fave, 7th Generation disinfecting spray, has not been seen for months. I got all exciting because I saw it on Amazon, but it was 30 dollars for a bottle, wow, gouge much??? (Normally 3.79)

We have a system where we pretty much have a backup of everything, but we also shop for my mom, so we make sure we have ample cleaning supplies and paper goods for both houses. We started buying a few extra things in February before stockpiling was cool

Yes, it’s just built into my DNA (daughter of a doomsday prepper ). But it’s not crazy overboard. I just pick up an extra here and there of things we eat all the time. I’ve been stocking up on more freeze dried vegetables and soup mixes because we can always eat soup. I’ve also been getting freeze dried fruit to put in oatmeal, and just some extra staples and condiments. I have a back up of soap and detergent, bleach, and alcohol. It all still fits in my pantry so I’m not to hoarding-levels yet. Glad I am not the only DD of a prepper!

I have a Covid closet. I keep a few extra supplies in there. Mostly Clorox wipes, tp, hand sanitizer, and paper towels. Everything else I will have to forage for like in March. I have something similar to this too.

Handy to read this thread update. I need to remember pumpkin and cranberries. Must commit that to memory. I have had success finding canned pumpkin on Target.com and also from Thrive market (online grocery). Been collecting a few cans for my baking.

A backup bottle would be nice but I have been pretty judicious with it so hopefully I will find it before I actually run out. I haven't seen wipes since I first started looking for them in March. My mom was managing to keep me supplied in TP because she'd see it at the local store when she went but it was never there when I did. In exchange, I got the Costco TP for her. Our plumbing just doesn't handle the Kirkland brand well. At this point I am stocked with TP by having it behind a cupboard door under each bathroom sink and the bottom of the linen closet. Food is my usual rotation so not much change there.

Not really but I keep an eye out if I feel like I'm running low.
So I had almost a new pack of Costco Toilet paper back in March.. maybe one package opened. When I went to Costco to get other things I couldn't remember how much TP I had and so I bought one big thing of it thinking I was probably over 1/2 way done with what I had on hand. Well now it is August and I still have enough TP for months. That shows me really how much we go through. Not that much! haha.. And the number of people in my house varies.. some of the time it's just 2 of us, right now there are 3, then when DH is home back up to 4. So it is really hard to determine how much we go through.
So do I buy some next trip? Hard to tell. lol... I probably will because I HATE running out of TP in any kind of circumstances.. I won't pay the high cost from the grocery store. Costco's is perfect.
Other stuff, eh the only thing that comes to mind is my Target is ALWAYS out of soup. I use for cooking and some for just to have on hand. I tried to buy a certain kind yesterday for a recipe and none to be found so next time I will probably grab at least 3 cans of it.

Figured I would post instead of just replying to a bunch of comments! I was raised by a mom who always had "backups" and extras. So it is has always been natural to me to have surplus to a small extent. I like to have a backup of things we use often like toiletries and paper products. Starting in Feb. I started to amp up my supplies of paper and cleaning products since I also do the shopping for my 85 yo Mom (she doesn't live with us). So we do have lots of paper towels, TP, soap, hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes. I also took the opportunity to resupply the medicine cabinet with cold medicines, pain relievers and vitamins back in March. I didn't stock up as much on groceries other than some canned goods and staples. The hardest things to find and be able to buy "enough" is soup -- my mom likes to eat it daily and I can't ever purchase more than 2 cans at a time -- no matter the brand or flavor. Clorox/Lysol wipes have been the hardest item to find so we have an unspoken rule that anyone who goes to a store always checks for these.

We've maintained a stock of ready-to-eat foods like soup, ravioli, etc. My family is pretty clueless about cooking, so I wanted to make sure they don't starve to death if I get sick. Apart from that, I do have extra stock of the staples we rely on. And I do have a ton of cat food and cat litter, since they don't understand "you get what you get and don't throw a fit!" I have been doing grocery visits (whether in person or curbside) only every 2 weeks, so I try to plan for that.
My current thinking is that I'll maintain this stock until spring and then see what the world is looking like. We don't have a basement or good climate controlled storage anywhere, so I have boxes of food in my master bedroom and living room. I'm sick of looking it!

I don’t have much storage space and will have even less soon, as my daughter has received a pretty devastating health diagnosis and will be moving home when her flat sells (plus my oldest son already moved home in March after his relationship ended). I always keep a lot of toilet paper as 2 of us have gut problems, I have a lot of hand sanitiser and Dettox spray , long life milk and pasta ( the only thing I couldn’t get during lockdown and really missed it).
When my daughter moves home we will need to get a supply of the only food her two massive BSH cats will eat just in case . I think other viruses are literally waiting around the corner- and globally there doesn’t seem to be a fail-safe formula of what to do when . The stress of lockdown and my daughter’s illness have left me feeling pretty exhausted and I’m praying I’m wrong!

I have not. We do not have food allergies or special diets and I still have enough bleach to get through an illness in my home. We recently had a three day power outage and lost all of our frozen and refrigerated food and I was glad to not have a stockpile to lose.

While I am now on town sewer, my parents and our camp are still septic, so I am a Scott 1 ply girl through and through. 😉😄 They had it at Costco the first two times I went, but last week all they had was Kirkland. I was going to split one with a friend. I was hoping that was my last time there for a bit, but i also wanted the variety pack of food saver rolls/bags and they didn’t have that either. So I will try again this week. If not I will look for the Scott 12 or 20 packs at the store and I will be fine. My freezer is full. I feel i have ample in the pantry but am not over stocked. I have limit storage space and I feel I have maximized it and prioritize it. Hope for the best, that is all I can do. Hahaha.

I am stocked but not hoarding. I keep a running shopping list and add to it when I open up a new package or bottle. For example, if I open up a new bottle of soap, I add soap to the shopping list. Then I buy it and remove it from the list. I really do this to minimize shopping trips. This is pretty much how I have always done things. The only thing I would say that I have stocked up on is meat and chicken. I try to keep enough on hand to last the month. I take it out of the freezer as needed. Before COVID, I would only buy enough to last the week.

I don't really stockpile. I have enough TP. Ordered 6 Method foaming hand soap refills from Amazon. Couldn't find it at Target around here. I don't see wipes ever. And the stinky hand sanitizer is making me crazy. My favorite one from Trader Joe's smells so bad now!

I have always wanted to have a beefed up pantry and this finally forced us to have one. We bought a metal shelving unit at Menards for our basement. I love looking at it and after the pandemic I plan to keep it this way. I call it Laurie's store whenever my siblings need something and can't find it...like wipes. Two weeks ago we bought a bunch of corn and I froze 39 bags. We buy half a cow from a local farmer so I can't wait until that is ready (Sept/Oct) because we are getting low from last year. Being stocked up gives me peace of mind and is giving me at least something I can control during this.
