We bought an upright freezer and have a box in a closet with non-perishables. We need some meat for the freezer and maybe a lasagna.

I found Softsoap refills at Home Depot last weekend. They had other cleaning supplies too, however, still no Clorox cleaner.

My plan is to stock enough stuff that I wouldn’t need anything for 4-6 weeks except produce and dairy. I don’t plan to hoard but living alone I didn’t keep much in the house at all. Now I plan too.

Yes, it’s just built into my DNA (daughter of a doomsday prepper ). But it’s not crazy overboard. I just pick up an extra here and there of things we eat all the time. I’ve been stocking up on more freeze dried vegetables and soup mixes because we can always eat soup. I’ve also been getting freeze dried fruit to put in oatmeal, and just some extra staples and condiments. I have a back up of soap and detergent, bleach, and alcohol. It all still fits in my pantry so I’m not to hoarding-levels yet. I ordered a big jar of dried red and green bell pepper. When I only shop once a week, it seems I never have enough produce on hand when I want it, and the frozen onion/pepper blend I always rely on at Kroger has been very hard to get. With dried minced onion and these bell peers, I can jazz up ground meat for pasta sauce. I didn’t know you could buy freeze dried green pepper. Great idea. I guess I’ve never really thought about it.

So I was at my nearest Walmart yesterday (an hour away) and some things on my list that I couldn't get were hand soap, disinfecting wipes or cleaners, toilet paper and Kraft Ranch dressing. The first 2 things I was expecting not to find, but to be out of toilet paper and Ranch dressing seemed a little weird. I'll just keep my running list and I'm sure I'll find those items next time.

I shared it with dh so when he is at a store he knows what to go and look for.

I still can’t find any cleaning supplies here. Haven’t seen wipes or any kind of all purpose disinfecting spray since March. Just went looking today. Me either or hand soap. I look everywhere I go. That stuff went out of stock and that was the end of it. For hand soap look for bar soap, either in store or on Etsy. You can also buy a big bottle of Castile soap which you dilute. It has many uses, hand soap, dish soap etc. I'm always stocked for a few reasons. It was the way I was raised, rural and shop the sales. Now I still live in a small village and the prices are good if they are on sale so I stock up. Then there are the things I can only get in they city so I stock up on those. I always stock up extra in the winter so if the weather is bad and I don't want to go in I don't 'have' to because I'm out of things. I didn't stock up or run out of TP or cleaning supplies when everything was in short supply.

I went into my large Kroger today to shop & noticed that Kraft Ranch dressing was in short supply & thought it odd. I don’t buy it often but my SIL likes it so I keep it on hand. The bottle I had was expired. I noticed that there were only 3 brands of bbq sauce to chose from. We are accustomed to more choices here in Texas. There was plenty of TP but a small supply of paper towels that were the most expensive. I thought that odd. Last weekend I wanted whipped cream to make strawberry shortcake for my sisters birthday. Not one carton, not one can of the squirt kind. They had cool whip in the freezer but we don’t eat that. Supplies are still so strange..

Yes I have been stockpiling BUT I have also been giving a ton out. If I have extra I am the go to person to ask. I have done swaps with people, so I think it all equals out.

This is what I do to. My parents and I share lists so I can get things at stores they are not going to, and they can pick up things for me on the rare occasions they see something I need. We don't get within 6ft. of each other but we can make sure we are well supplied with needs.

I call it Laurie's store whenever my siblings need something and can't find it...like wipes. This reminds me of my mother in law...she had a big walk in pantry that she called The Country Store.

I love British words. I am the person that ALWAYS has one or two bulk packs of TP from Costco stashed away. Always. We have a ton of storage and live 40 minutes away, so I usually grab one when I’m there. I always have a hefty supply of cleaning supplies and paper gods at all times too. I have just always maintained a stash, but I will also share with anyone that is in need or can’t find any. I live in a smallish town and the toiletry items tend to be priced higher, so we also get those 40 minutes away. I was raised in an even smaller town. It seems weird to not have extras.
Don't do it all at once. For example if we need 5 packages of hot dogs, I will get 6. (We go through about 5 packages in 10 days). We have a freezer and I try to stock up on them during summer because of better sales.
I have always wanted to have a beefed up pantry and this finally forced us to have one. We bought a metal shelving unit at Menards for our basement. I love looking at it and after the pandemic I plan to keep it this way. I call it Laurie's store whenever my siblings need something and can't find it...like wipes. I love this! I'm trying to get rid of crap and make the basement a space that is much more functional! I've made some space in a storage cabinet. We currently have one small metal shelving unit for storage and one cabinet for snacks. I have a kid who goes through phases of eating one or two items very well, so it might look like overkill.

no. thankfully i live within 20 minutes of 10 Targets, 4 Costcos, 2 Sams Clubs, 3 Smart and Finals, and countless grocery stores. mere seasons have never been an incentive to stock up. a pandemic yes. seasons, no.

I did accidentally. I was down so I put two of several items in my cart then actually went to Publix to pick up medication. The pharmacy is right across from the aisles that have tp/paper towels cleaning stuff. So while I was there, I grabbed what I needed and they had. I was down to bare bones so picked up two of what I could-1 for me, 1 for the raided hurricane supply box. I got Clorox spray refills, tp, paper towels, hand sanitizer, etc.
Then, because I am a forgetful dufus I forgot all that was in my Instacart cart and didn’t look over my purchases before I hit purchase, i ended up with 2 more of it all. So now I have 4 packs of 12 rolls of tp (among other things.)
It will last me a year. 😂 lol

In my area there are plenty of paper products, but the cleaning products are still bare. I haven't seen Fantastick (saw it on Amazon for $12, when it is usually $3) or Scrubbing Bubbles or Soft scrub. Still no wipes anyplace. Maybe its a regional issue on the stock. I have read several times that Clorox wipes will be missing from most shelves until 2021. Not sure why. I have purchased some extra paper towels (to cut in half) and a plastic jug-like container from the Dollar store. With some Clorox bleach, I can make my own Clorox wipes if needed. Not the same, but will work in a pinch. I seriously must be the luckiest person on the planet regarding this stuff. Before all this went down I had forgotten to cancel my subscribe and save toilet paper, Chlorox wipes, paper towels, dried bleach, and tissues so I was like OMG what am I going to DO with all this stuff (because I already had enough). Then I found ANOTHER set of Chlorox wipes down in the basement. I'm not a hoarder I swear...it's just things were really crazy at work for a while. I had also purchased 2 bidet sprayers that you install onto the toilets that DH hadn't installed...so those got installed. They're super awesome btw. We call them the butt sprayers. To answer the OP I did fill up our 3rd chest freezer that normally sits empty with meat and stuff when it went on sale. Anyone in the MKE area need Chlorox wipes, give me a shout.

I keep a bit more on hand than normal...especially of the oddball items I had trouble finding!
I have a great storage shelf for paper products so I always had a good supply on hand even during the worst of the toilet paper days. Currently i'm trying to keep it even more well stocked than usual since some things have been harder to get...like paper towels.
Food items that were harder to find, I try to keep a better stock of. Things like gluten free pasta were extremely hard to find. Since it's become more available, I find myself buying it when I see it rather than waiting til we need it. I feels crazy, but I keep thinking this was soooo hard to find.

And its safe for dd as there is no corn.

I feel like, for round 1, I was well stocked. I work non-stop Jan-Apr so I had purchased a lot of supplies in December. Then I paid attention to other’s experiences/stories here and rounded everything out about a week/week and a half before the shit hit the fan here. I’m so grateful to those who raised the alarm early and said “get prepared” because as everyone was running around crazy, I was safely at home.
Since round 1, I purchased a chest freezer. The ONLY thing I was nervous about during the first wave was running out of DS’s favorite chicken (very picky eater, will only eat this chicken for protein). I couldn’t find it anywhere and when I did there were limits. I bought the freezer and it’s fully packed with chicken and meat. I feel better. I have plenty of paper goods (TP/paper towels), I have plenty of hand soap and sanitizer. The last time I was at BJs they were rolling out a pallet of Lysol wipes (5pks) felt like I hit the damn lottery. So I grabbed one of those. I get Poland Springs water delivered, we have terrible tap water, so there was never an issue with finding water. When this started I bumped up the number of bottles I was having delivered in case there was an issue with delivery but it never became a problem, actually have a delivery on Tuesday and went down to my normal 10 5-gal bottles for the month (I was at 7 bottles when working but now that I’m home, I’m drinking more water at home). I’m okay on “meds”, again when people on this board started talking about this, I stocked up on stuff. It will be interesting to see what happens after the holiday. After every other holiday there has been a spike in cases and with kids in/going back to school I don’t know. DS and I have continued to quarantine. It took me months to kick pneumonia and I’m finally feeling better (had been sick since May) and we just don’t want to take any chances. DS starts school on the 16th, he’ll be going 4 days a week (all kids on IEPs are).

Do you use a regular pasta recipe and just swap out the flour? Or is a specific recipe? Thanks! I use this recipe from Everything Kitchens: m.youtube.com/watch?v=dqdTT6fg5O4Ingredients: 9oz KA Measure for Measurr GF Flour (by weight) and 6oz Whole Eggs by weight (or about 3 whole large eggs plus one yolk) Because it is not a gluten flour, I do not use the dough hook. I just use the paddle a buy longer and then knead by hand a bit. This recipe can use 00 flour, AP flour or GF AP flour. I have the pasta press and am looking to get the pasta rollers
