I didn't say him non-stop talking was a good thing. I said like it or not, Trump does stop and answer questions all of the time. He does interviews all of the time. He stands in that briefing room answering questions for what seems like an eternity.
My point is Biden barely says a word or stops for questions. He seems to avoid the press. And I think that's his campaign strategy that might, or might not work for him.
Just because he is talking doesn't mean he is answering questions. Or even making sense 99% of the time. |

That’s exactly why I don’t waste my time responding to these fly-ins who sign on with various names. They post under one new name and agree with themselves under another. Yeah. I responded to this thread against my better judgement. It felt *off* (like let’s test if *they* can let us have a pro-Trump thread without saying anything) from the beginning. My thoughts exactly. I can just imagine them chortling over how they've triggered us all  The only thing this thread has triggered in me is certainty that Trump and his minions are some of the least patriotic Americans that have ever existed. Modern Presidential teleprompters have been in use since 1956. 1956. 1956. 64 years. All GOP presidents since then have used them, although W Bush preferred notecards because he looked like a deer-in-the-headlights when he tried to use them. In 1952, President Herbert Hoover (R) used an older version of a teleprompter at the GOP convention. The only reason using a teleprompter became a point of contention/criticism is because the GOP powers-that-be tried hide their blatant racism through manufactured controversies like use of a teleprompter, birther drama, what color suit Obama wore, etc. Those who criticize Biden for using a teleprompter look like uniformed idiots grasping at straws; like sheeple who parrot racist criticisms that started with the right’s reactions to Obama. It's like trump supporters have never watch trump give a speech. I'm mean it's weird they think he's good at it. It's crazy. He can't give a good speech using a teleprompter or not using one. My friend saw him in February seemed a bit surprised that he wasn't as good as she thought he would be. She's a fan. She's been seeing him through the Fox window. |

As an Australian I am terrified of this man being reelected. I feel it's only the Covid disaster that has prevented him from causing a war with the damage he has done to relationships with other countries. I'm angry that he is basically speaking for me and my country as allies of the United States. I wish the rest of the world could step up and see something done about it. Honestly, I think international voices are the some of the voices we need to listen to. In the US, we have skewed views regardless of what “side” we are on and can make arguments for or against anyone based on news clips and social media shorts. If we look at views that are outside of our partisan views, it’s fascinating to see what the world view of the US is. We have several refupeas who are not from the US and have participated in the discussion with what they are seeing. I don’t want to turn off all media and news until after the election (mainly because I do want to see some of the debates, but I also like to follow people on twitter), but I do want to really look at all viewpoints and aspects of how BOTH candidates are viewed not only in the US but on the global scale. Fighting and name calling is not going to bring anyone around. Trying to understand where people are coming from and looking at those specific points from many points of view are going to shape how people vote (or IF people vote I guess.) Even if someone else’s view seems totally whackadoodle to you, you will never get through to anyone with name calling or minimizing their concerns. |

Because that's the stereotype, right? You have to be a toothless stupid hick or a white supremacist to support DJT. Like, I may not agree with it, but I very much appreciate Keri's answer a few pages back. Her family is in the oil industry, it sounds like she is supportive of the oil industry, she views Trump as supportive if the oil industry (at least more than Biden). I get that. I'm a teacher. I pay special attention to a candidate's views on education and often support the more pro-education candidate, even if it means a small business owner or other consistuency might not be happy with me (or something- you get my drift). Let's not pretend we're all selfless martyred angels as pure as the driven snow... of course we all sometimes vote for our own interests. The second paragraph just talks about the poster being turned off by the behavior of peas on this board. But I don't think she's saying that she's voting for Trump just to spite US, is she? I hope not. I'm trying to be open-minded here, but there would be no other way to see this other than burning down the house just to "own the libs," right? I'm really hoping that's not a real thing. That leaves us paragraph one. 1. "The hypocracy of the left"- I'm not sure what that means. Is that referring to the next sentence? Or a separate issue? 2. "Blind eye to the riots and the protesting"- I get what you're saying here. You're seeing some very unsavory and out-of-control behavior on the streets, and you feel like Biden? The democrats? are supporting the lawlessness. AT least, they're not advocating for a swift crackdown on it. They're trying to be more delicate and measured in their response, while you're seeing it more as a black-and-white issue? Add in the racial element of what's happening, which always ratchets everyone's emotions up to an eleventeen, and you're angry and uncomfortable. I come and go on the board, so I wasn't really posting at the beginning of the summer when most of the protests were happening, but I am *SURE* there were many threads explaining the left's perspective about things. But I guess my question to you is- Biden did unequivocally come out against violence and lawlessness as part of protesting. June 2, 2020: "But there is no place for violence. No place for looting or destroying property or burning churches, or destroying businesses — many of them built by people of color who for the first time were beginning to realize their dreams and build wealth for their families... We need to distinguish between legitimate peaceful protest — and opportunistic violent destruction." That statement seems pretty clear to me, and that was just one of the first times he spoke out. Why isn't that good enough for you? What more would you like him to say? Is there anything he could say to make you feel better about his response? Can you point to any systemic Democratic party statement that supports the violent part of the BLM protests? 3. "Biden is obviously mentally incapacitated." Joe Biden has been in public life for 47 years and he has NEVER been known as a polished or smooth public speaker. One of my favorite Uncle Joe moments ever is when he was at a rally honoring someone in a wheelchair (I forget who- its been a while) and he told the guy to "Stand up and take a bow!" To a guy in a WHEELCHAIR. He immediately recovered by saying "Oh, geesh, John Smith, of course you can't stand up, god love ya." or something like that and I swear, it makes me laugh every time because it was just such an awful, obvious mistake. That I could see myself making, quite honestly.  I just don't see the same dysfunction as you do. I will start to pay attention to the amount of free questions Biden answers going forward, though. I was not aware that was one of the criticisms about him. My sense is that Trump tends to suck all of the metaphorical air out of the metaphorical room, so that Biden is allotted less time in the news cycle, but I will look for that going forward.
