Why would people not wear a mask at drive up picking up window? Even though you are outside the worker is often leaning out to you to accept cash, get your credit card or hand you credit card machine. Therefore they are getting relatively close to you and would have done exposure to your germs. These people are often low income and have no choice but to work. Is it fair to expose them all day long (even though risk is relatively low)? Yes, this. My daughter is a drive thru worker. She is also uncontrolled bipolar and having terrible paranoias about Covid. It is killing her mentally when people drive up without a mask. You are closer than 6 feet and you are putting these people in danger.

1. It goes on in the car, before getting out. 2. Yes at gas station. Their little store is busy and people are always walking around, typically closer than 6 feet. 3. Not sure if this is a Los Angeles county thing, but all drive through have a sign about putting on your mask during ordering (when there is a person taking the order- like our super busy chick-fil-a and in-n-out), and to approach the pick up window with the mask already on.

The only drive thru i really use is McDs and here they have plexiglass and masks and gloves. The windows are now large enough to just pass money and food, their masked faces are behind plexiglass. All I'm really doing is exposing their gloved hands to my card. We don't touch hands when i take the food but even if we did, they have gloves.

1. Right before I get out of the car 2. Yes 3. Yes if I am the driver. If I'm the passenger seat I do not
I also use hand sanitizer after each of these time and will wash my hands upon arrival at home.

I rarely eat fast food.. an occasional iced tea from McDonald's. They have a sheet of plexiglass up

I generally put my mask on before I get out of the car, just so I can get it adjusted properly...my hair out of the way, my earrings untangled, etc. I also try to leave it on until I get back into the car because I like to sanitize my hands before handling my mask.
I do not wear a mask while pumping gas, there is usually lots of space between me and the closest person.
I do put on a mask when going through the drive thru. You have to be closer than 6 feet to take your food from them.

I sometimes put my mask on as soon as I get out of my car now that the weather is cooling. When it was hot, I waited until I got near the door. Do not wear mask for pumping gas or drive through.

Between car and shop for me No to drive through -Our local one is cash/contact less - they pass the reader on a long stick out of the window and you wave your card at it. At the collection window they are shielded apart for a tiny square which they pass the food through. Sometimes to pumping gas only because its easer to put it on than hold it and saves me re-sanitising my hand twice - once to put the mask on after pumping and then again on entering the shop to pay.
Interestingly over here were are told that if you take your mask off you should only handle it by the ear straps and seal it in a bag until you can dispose of it properly or wash it and shouldn't reuse it once removed until its washed. Their logic is the mask is there to stop stops you passing the virus not so much to pretext you from others.

I put my mask on in the car. It just seems easier to me.
I also wear a mask when pumping gas and getting drive thru. I’ve Only been to Starbucks and to me it just feels like the right thing to do.
I wear a mask for all pick up and curbside services - even with contactless pickup and them putting items directly in the back of my car.

I put it on whenever I am going to be close enough to people that it counts. No one at the gas pumps? I don't put it on. Busy there? I put it on. Park clear at the back of the parking lot? I'll wait till I start getting near other customers especially when the temperature is over 110. In the drive through? I'll put it on when I get near the window because I will be that close to someone.

I put mine on in the car - I wear glasses and it’s easier to take off my glasses, put the mask on and make sure the nose piece fits right, and then put my glasses back on. For some reason, if I put the mask on while wearing my glasses, the loops become tangled on the ear pieces when I take it off.
I take off the mask when I’m back in the car. I have hand sanitizer in the cup holder and use it liberally.
When pumping gas there is usually no one near me so I don’t necessarily wear it then.
When facing people at a drive through window I generally wear a mask. I have forgotten a couple of times, but I try to (and it's required in Illinois), even when I’m across the river in Iowa where there are no state rules about masks.

I put it on before I get out of the car. I have forgotten my mask in the car a few times, and walked as soon as I got to the door, realized and went back to get it. I wear it while getting gas and at drive through. Don't want to expose the workers!

I usually put it on before getting out of the car. Just easier - and leave it on till I am back in the car. It doesn't bother me.
I haven't at the gas pump - but I have picked times/pumps that are empty and haven't been near anyone. Plus outside feels better to me.
I always put it on at the drive through. We have a mask mandate and Starbucks in my state has signs up saying "Face Covering Zone". Starbucks and Chickfila have been my only drive throughs but I wear my mask for both of those. It's just courteous to the workers.
I also wear a mask into my gym (once in the workout space I don't but we each have our own spot, spaced apart and take turns walking across the room to get weights).

I put my mask on before I leave the car. I wear it when I'm inside any building that is not my home. I wear it in drive thrus and curb side pickups.

1)put mask on in the car unless I forget and then I am trying to put it on before I get to grocery store door 2)no on pumping gas. I guess if it was crowded I would but it never is crowded 3)no on drive thru
I do take my mask off when I am in the parking lot after I leave the grocery store. I am outside and not within 6 feet of anyone else. I store my mask in my purse and often take it on/off multiple times a day which is not optimal for protecting me

I have never been asked at Starbucks drive thru to put on a mask. I have been to Starbucks in 4 different states. I knew I should have prefaced it with an “at my Starbucks.” 🙄 It's fine, I was just saying what I have encountered.

Before I get out of the car and I don't take it off until back in the car where I put in a plastic bag and sanitize my hands.
I wear a mask and a glove to touch the handle to pump gas and sanitize after.
I wear a mask going through a drive through.

DH usually fills my car up with gas and I can't remember the last time I stopped for gas. If I had to I'd wear my mask, because in my mind you just don't know when someone might come up close behind you inadvertently. I just don't trust people to stay 6 feet away-they don't.
Drive thrus-I can't remember the last time I went through a drive through. But if I did I'd wear my mask. What does it hurt to have it on for those few minutes? It doesn't hurt and it may help.

1. I put it on in the car. It’s easier for me to switch out my sunglasses and get it adjusted. Once it’s on I don’t notice it, so I don’t take it off until it’s time to switch glasses again. 2. My DS always fills my gas tank for me. ❤️❤️ I’d wear one if I did. 3. I don’t ever go through drive thrus but I’d probably wear one if I did. We are a state that has come back from a hellish early spring and don’t ever want to experience that again. I see 100% compliance in stores. I also socially distance, sanitize the crap out of my hands, don’t touch my face, and wash my hands when I get home.

I fish mine out of my purse put it on as I'm walking into whatever building I'm going into. Usually it comes off as soon as I get back outside.
I've never even thought to wear one while getting gas because usually it's not that busy.
I rarely go thru drivethrus any more, but when I do get something via curbside I don't put my mask on (wouldn't in a drive thru either).

I wear my mask whenever I cannot be 6 feet away from other people, or whenever I’m indoors (public). I usually put it on Before I leave the car. I’ll usually pull it down on the way back to my car. Never when getting gas. Always in drive throughs.

My first question is, when you are going to a store, when do you put on your mask? I, personally, put mine on before I even get out of the car, but most people I saw waited until they got right by the door of the store.
When I start to walk in the store. I'm not wearing it a second longer than I have to. It also comes off as I exit the store.
I also had to get gas, so my second question is, do you wear your mask when pumping gas?
No
Finally, do you wear your mask when going through a drive through- like Starbucks?
No

I had a grocery pick up yesterday that was taking forever, so I had a lot of time to observe people coming and going. My first question is, when you are going to a store, when do you put on your mask? I, personally, put mine on before I even get out of the car, but most people I saw waited until they got right by the door of the store. I also had to get gas, so my second question is, do you wear your mask when pumping gas? Finally, do you wear your mask when going through a drive through- like Starbucks? I was just curious what everyone’s thoughts were. I will continue to do what I am doing (wearing my mask in all these instances because it doesn’t bother me to wear my mask) but I am wondering what conventional wisdom is on this. 1. Depends on which store I am at--one of them has a busier lot, so I put my mask on in the car. The other one, I might wait closer to the door. 2. Yes. If someone pulls into the pump on the other side we'll be closer than 6 feet. 3. Yes, in part because the county restrictions aren't entirely clear. I feel like in my car is still outside, and I think that I have to be closer than six feet to hand off my payment. So I just put it while I'm at the windows, I don't drive with it on.

I put it on somewhere near the front door of the store, sooner if I’m within 6 feet of someone (not usually), not when pumping gas, plenty of room to more around (Costco). When I go through a drive thru, yes but I’ve only been through In and Out and they originally had a sign saying please mask. can’t remember if they have changed it.

I don’t wear it to pump gas. Two drive thrus here request that you wear them so I do there, but not to others.

Masks are mandatory here and there are fines for not wearing a mask in public. As per the Department of Health website, the rules are:
"You must put your face covering on before you leave your vehicle or if you wind down the window to talk to someone, including at a drive through to collect food or goods where being served by another person."
I put my mask on before I get out of the car. I wear it when putting petrol in my car. I haven't been through a drive through since masks became mandatory but would put my mask on as per the regulations.
