I sat down and made a few cards yesterday. Normally I like to work through lots of the same materials to make multiples, but I had some projects in progress, like my Cardtober sample, and some things I had lying around after removing a cluttery pinboard from my space (it just held a lot of deferred decisions/procrastination) so this was my tidying up. This is my Cardtober sample for my color scheme challenge (day 24, feel free to join in). I painted inside the heat embossed floral stamps with distress oxide inks to get the color scheme I wanted. All fussy cut - ugh. It was A LOT more work than I normally put into one card! I like the flowers but this stamp is a tricky design for me because the "kind" part isn't easy to integrate into an actual sentiment. CARDtober share by jo.blackford, on Flickr I found this old white on white embossed piece that had some spots where I had miss-stamped. I intentionally-messy painted it with oxides too and covered most of the mistakes with another stamped and die cut piece. It was a fun experiment and at least it's now a card, so I can give it away. Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr A friend gave me this giant die cut flower. The background is from the back of a Shimelle boxed card. Nothing fancy here, but again, now it's a card I can give it away. Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr I've had this mistake-stamped panel on my pinboard for more than 2 years! It was too pretty to throw away, but it moved slightly when I stamped it the second time and it didn't feel good enough to sell. I was so frustrated for messing up this pretty piece of paper. I didn't know what to do with it until recently. I colored it in with water based markers. Didn't do a great job, but with a sentiment it's a card now! bye bye. Most people wouldn't notice the slight blur in the stamping anyway, but the coloring definitely masks it even more. Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr While I was putting things away I noticed that I have a stack of frames pre-cut that I hardly ever use. I thought this would be cute with the sentiment I recently found for giraffe cards "it's been too long!" I realized that the frames could look a bit like a zoom call, so I think I will make another version of this to sell. I need to stamp and color more animals and some foliage to stretch the giraffe a little taller on my next version. The sentiment is just a computer printed font. Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr My piles are almost gone!

So - I made cards! 22 cards actually, for all of my coworkers. I used a challenge by gramma for cardtober, and even her twist! Typical for me, I started simple and then just kept adding MORE. Got good use out of my new butterfly stamps/dies, and my stash of paper edge-strips. Had a panic last night because I had miscounted - I had forgotten someone and had only made 21... I was SO glad I still have a few bits and pieces to throw together one last card, because the idea of getting out the stamps and dies again was too much to bear. cards for work by kirstendrew, on Flickr

I got back to work on my virus diaries yesterday after a long break. I got a bit stuck last time I worked on it so it’s a bit random but it doesn’t matter. Also, I’ll probably go back and add some outlining or extra words, I don’t know. I’m trying not to get hung up on the bits I’m not loving - I was just glad I got moving again and I’m almost up to the beginning of October. Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr Oct share by jo.blackford, on Flickr I have some Halloween journal pages to share too but I’ll come back with those later.

I copied this LO from a template that I was going to buy, when it was on sale. There was a problem with PayPal, and by the time I could log on, the sale had ended. So I just made my own template instead. Ahoy Matey Artsy paper by Pixelily Designs, elements are from the 'Layerworks 692' template by Studio DD.

Working on a giant catch up on my comments and posting a few more layouts. kitbop - Your summer layout with the rainbows and banners is just so great! Just give me all the good feels looking at it. Happy Trails is awesome! I love all the fussy cutting! That took a lot of time but was well worth the results! Moths are Friends - how can you go wrong when that is the title of the layout. I love making layouts of things like that that would be easily forgotten otherwise. And Quickie Quencher - that star is so cool and looks dimensional. Such a cool idea with that paper! Linda - Your Halloween cards are great! I love how you can do a batch but they are all something special. And the Hello Fall Truck card is so fun too. I love those little trucks that have different things in the back. I always mean to make some but never have in the end. grammadee - LOAD is working very well for you! You have producted such great layout this month! I love the photos of your past like the Once Upon A Time layout with that special journaling and that tree die cut on the edge is so perfect and beautiful! And the Lily layout with the beading on the half circle is such a cool idea. And the cloths and sewing maching all the embellishments just add to the page and the journaling. I love the cards you have done too! I just bought a cardinal die because it reminds me of my mother in law. I love your Happy Holidays card with the cardinal. And the wood burning on the Flight is really cool!! Like I said, you have it all going on this month! kellyr21 - You have such a great style. I can pick your layouts out without looking at your name. The New Vision layout with the dark background and the flowers is so nice! And your stencil girls are really cool! On your Celebrate Monday I first have to say great outfit! Also, I like the circles with the strips and the square photo mat. And the My Pink Dress layout is so cool with the woodgrain and the rolled corners. scrappyrabbit - I love your Halloween cards! I always think I should do a big batch to send, but never do. I am sure your recipients are thrilled!

I found my scrappy mojo and have been productive. 😀 I have been just grabbing photos laying on my desk and getting them on a page. This was based on a sketch from last month. Day 12. A picture of me as a little one in our backyard with our daisy bushes.

lynnek, I am loving your pages. So glad you found your mojo! That photo of you in the flower garden is super sweet, and your page is the perfect place to showcase it. Love the colours and all the flowers fluttering around the photo! That is a wonderful FAMILY photo, and I love, love, LOVE all the layering on this page! I can't read the journaling on your third page, but I love those photos! Such cool, loving interaction! And I love what you did with the circles. I am not sure why you don't like the birthday LO, but I like it! The off setting of the two photo blocks gives the page interest, I love the stitching! I think I caught the rest of these shares on Flickr. Still need to cruise through the CARDtober threads and drool over all the pretty and fun and innovative cards there.

I managed to put away most of my crop stuff today and dig out my tools and glue and inks. Guess what, justjac ? My "pokey thing" was in that tool tray all the time: just hiding under some other stuff! Still have some cards from the crop to share, but yesterday I got busy with my divided tray of diecuts and PL cards and put together ten easy Christmas cards: Simple cards by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Finished one 6x8 page for LOAD today
Points: ten cards @15 points each (150). One page @15 + create & share = (17) Total = 167.

AussieMeg - Your Fluffball layout is so sweet! I love that little pup! And that is a great template! If I did digi, I would definitely use that. I really love that Father's Day layout! I have that sketch out on my desk in progress and that flag thing had me stumped so I changed it a little. You layout kinda makes me wish I just stuck with it. The flags look great! And your Best Day layout is awesome. I love that you just made it work and made your own template. You are talented for sure!! joblackford - Your Kind card with the black background is stunning! How did you color with the Distress Oxides? And the second Kind card is lovely too. Love the understated color and how you did the sentiment. That big flower die cut on the Celebrate card deserves its own card. So pretty! I love the It's Been Too Long card! It does look like a zoom call! I may have to steal that idea. And your virus journal is always an inspiration to me. It is unfortunate that you are now adding other disasters to it. What a year. And, the RGB layout. A wonderful tribute. Such a sad thing all around! kitbop - WOW!! 23 cards! Amazing! I am sure they will be so appreciated! gramma - Your India page is so amazing! The photos and the die cuts! A perfect title page! The The Elves Were Busy is so cute!! Darling little elves and title! grammadee - You are so productive this month! LOAD is really working for you! Love the 10-10-10 layout with the flowers in the corner! Your I Am Crafty page is so fun with a picture of you doing your thing! Love an All About Me page! I have really enjoyed your pages with the older photos this month. I love all the layers on the Don't Quit page and that photos is a treasure! And the i like the combo of photos on the Picture Perfect Page. I always enjoy when photos from different times are combined on one page. And I love the use of the brick stencil too!

Last bit that I have done at the moment. I am hoping to get two more Sketchy Saturday pages done this month. I found these photos of my son and cousin dancing at wedding when he was about 6 and then again last February 15 years later. They just begged to be combined into a gift for her. I debated and debated about what to do. I finally found this shadow box and cut the corner flowers on my Cameo. She said it was the best present she ever got. 😀 This layout was based on Sketchtember Day 25 sketch. And one more layout using a grid design.

Such a sad thing all around! Thank you! Yes, my virus diaries have spun totally out of control. Trying to work on how to tell the White House Superspreading story right now. Face palm. I'm hoping I run out of pages before the election. lol. Better work fast! Hey, who am I kidding? I'm probably going to need a 3rd book for the 3rd wave and whatever fresh nightmare is around the corner. For the distress oxide cards I just took a slightly damp brush and touched it to the ink pad and painted. I wasn't using watercolor cardstock so I had to be careful how much water I added, so I mostly kept it very minimal and didn't try to blend too much. But the ink pads work pretty well for painting. I guess some people smoosh the ink onto a palette or the lid but going straight to the pad worked fine for my purposes. I was trying to get pretty intense colors. Catherine Pooler inks work well for this too from what I've seen.

I bought this template quite a while ago and finally got round to using it. 'Single 193 - Right Now' template by Cindy Schneider, 'Happy Happy' kit by Sahin Designs and Designed by Soco. I just realised that I will be able to claim points for the 'Sans Patterned Paper' challenge, for the first time this month - it's very rare for me to not use any patterned paper.
