I’m in a political discussion group on Facebook for recovering Republicans. A guy in the group posted this, and I thought it pretty much covered all the bases. I am reposting with his permission.
Post by Denny Coverstone:
May I begin by stating that computer repair shops are no place to have an Apple product repaired. Apple products are repaired by Apple so that exclusive proprietary construction and programming are kept intact. Apple doesn't share repair instructions with computer repair shops.
So just so I have the latest email scandal straight: Hunter Biden, who lives in Los Angeles, decides to fly 3000 miles across country to drop off 3 MacBook Pros at a computer repair shop run by a blind guy who charges the insanely low price of $85 for data recovery. Hunter gets off the plane and drunk-drives to the repair shop in Wilmington desperate for service, because everyone knows there are no computer repair shops anywhere in LA. He staggers into the shop reeking of booze, drops them off, signs a contract for repair and then totally disappears, because he's so close to his easily-reachable dad that his dad is responsible for Hunter, but so not-close that his dad is unable to relay a message to Hunter that his computers are ready for pickup.
The repair shop owner recovers the data but instead of doing what data recovery people normally do when computers are abandoned, which is wipe the data clean and sell the hardware, he reads literally thousands of Hunter's *private* emails (half of which are probably the "Reply All" chains we hate) but a few of those thousands of emails may mention a possible meeting arrangement between his dad and a Ukrainian guy. (For what? it's not mentioned.)
Repair Shop Guy is so alarmed that he contacts the FBI. The FBI arranges to pick up the hard drives, but Repair Shop Guy chooses to take the completely normal step of copying those drives. Once he realizes the FBI isn't doing anything with them (hmmm... wonder why), he calls up the most credible ex-Mayor on Earth and hands him their contents.
That totally credible ex-Mayor is also so alarmed by these emails that instead of immediately going public or talking to Barr's DOJ, he sits on them for months and then chooses to release them 3 weeks before the election.
The responsible media then asks to independently verify their validity through a forensic analysis of the emails' metadata, but said ex-Mayor does what people do when trying to prove contrivances as facts and lies as truth ... refuses fact-based independent unbiased evaluation.

Is this the same information that was printed and mailed overnight to Tucker Carlson which was then lost in transit with no copies made?

And this is why the story is only getting traction on Breitbart & OAN (and Fox hasn't been pushing it as much recently).
Once the legit news outlets couldn't verify anything from Giuliani, they walked away from the story.

The only people that needs to have an "independent unbiased evaluation" in all of this , (by a psychiatrist and not by the FBI) are the ones that concocted, shared and believed this story in the first place.
It beggar belief how dumb one has to be to think that there was a shred of truth in any of it. Desperate people will take desperate measure I guess and think everyone else has the same mentality as they do.

Major media have repeatedly asked for copies of the hard drive, in order to verify the information, but those requests have been ignored. So RW media is bleating about the lack of coverage, but for *some* reason, America’s Mayor seems reluctant to allow verification. Hmmmm, curious. ETA: And the story seems to have been pushed aside by Tucker’s missing documents. They’re creative, I’ll give them that.

He forgot the part—
That Guiliani tried to give this “info” to Fox News, they didn’t want it, and so he was forced to “shop it around” for a taker.

Now it’s time to blame Tucker Carlson...
“On Wednesday night’s show, Tucker Carlson reported that his team had acquired incriminating documents. However, they sent them from Washington to Los Angeles, and the documents disappeared. And they neglected to make any copies. So now the only copy of the documents that would nail the probable next President of the United States are gone:”

The saddest part about this whole contrived pathetic attempt to recreate the success of the '16 email scandal (to the gullible) is that we can no longer use the icon:

I am not commenting on the rest of the email, but, there is an entire chain of independent Apple repair shops in my area. And, it appears Apple does share information with them, and offers certification. support.apple.com/irp-programJust keeping it real. Carry on.

Saw someone on FB say this:
From the very GEEK side of things, my husband (who is a CyberSecurity Engineer ) did a search on the hard drive they "claim" to be the incriminating evidence. It proves that their story is BS. The serial number for the hard drive was not produced during the time they claim to match with the laptop. ... Completely made up, amateur crap. As usual.

UPS has stepped up and said they were the carrier that lost the package contents. And of course they can verify that there was a package but they would have no idea what was IN the package. With all the technology today this story is so unbelievable.

a long time ago, i asked someone how people always fall for the dumbest scams. you know, the Nigerian Prince, the international lottery, the fake check sent to you, etc. he said that most reasonable people will question the shit out of these scams and won't fall for them. that's fine. the scammers don't want the reasonable people. those are the troublesome people who will question the scam and possibly report them. no, they want the dumb people who will easily fall for stuff like this and not question the "validity". these are the suckers they prey on.
so going back to the Hunter scandal. of course the dumb (oh, sorry, that's not politically correct. i mean mentally vulnerable, logically impaired or reasoning challenged) people fell for this and ran with it. of course they did not question the logic or chain of events. this is who this "scandal" was meant for. trump's base. the rest of us just rolled our eyes and watched the train wreck unfold.

I've heard it said that for a fake story to take hold it needs to have an ounce of possibility of maybe being true. So the fact that the Hunter Biden story hasn't gained traction shows just how ridiculous it is. Nobody cares.
