I'm late to the party, as it is 8:45 Thursday morning here, and all the fun was happening whilst I was asleep. I haven't seen any video of the inauguration yet, only photos. I knew it was going to be a happy day for people around the world, but I didn’t think I’d be looking at photos with tears in my eyes, some 16,000km away. Oh, and that photo of the four of them, with Jill and Kamala standing together in those gorgeous purple and blue outfits (one of my favourite colour combinations!), makes this scrapbooker really happy! If you watch nothing else, I’d suggest you watch Amanda Gorman’s poetry reading. Perfection. Yes. Absolutely this. And I am also partial to Gaga's and JLo's singing. |

I cannot imagine how overwhelmed they are feeling. They have known this and have plans to begin to heal the country.
I'm beyond thrilled that Doofus didn't attend. He knows he isn't liked. I'm hoping he remembers this when he is invited to other events. You know they will invite him due to his previous position. They are gentlemen and ladies, unlike him.

There were clearly no scrapbookers involved in sorting out what the women were going to wear. I can't figure out what paper to use that's going to work with both the First Lady and Vice President Harris ETA: I had posted about the photo making me happy as a scrapbooker before reading your comment. I have tons and tons of paper that would work well with that photo. The colours go beautifully together IMO. I completely agree, the colors are lovely and I cannot wait to scrapbook that photo as well. |

F%xk Trump for not being there with Bush, Clinton, Obama and Biden to lay the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Did anyone really want him there though? Wasn’t it all that much better without his toxic presence? And imagine having to be courteous to him after everything he as done. |

Al Roker was not giving up, he was going to get a fist bump from our new President! And I cried all over again when he got it!!! I did too! I was watching NBC and I even sat up to pay closer attention! Al is a great guy and I was glad he got his fist bump. Savannah and Lester were teasing the crap out of him! 😂😂 |

Amazing Grace was my mom's favorite hymn and Garth Brooks was one of her top 10 country stars. She would've loved his performance. |

Darn. I missed a good, live thread. I started crying at Kamala Harris’s swearing in and - seriously - didn’t stop for about ten minutes. A woman vice president. Too long in the making. Too late in my life. Too evocative of what we could have had the last four years. It really hit me in the moment. Oh, and congrats to Joe, too.  |

It's a wonderful day. I loved watching the inauguration. I made my toast with peach wine, a tribute to Georgia.
I'm looking forward to the first State of the Union Address. President Biden with two women behind him!

I haven't read this entire thread, but I will. Since I got home from work, I have been trying watch what I recorded all day while getting dinner in the oven.
I will just say for now before I read the thread that I absolutely adore Harris and and Dr. Biden's matching coats/dresses and gloves. OMG I want to dress like that someday! LOL

He has a huge ego, but at the same time he's too chicken shit to be face to face with anyone who isn't a part of his brainwashed 'base' That's a win for the rest of us, knowing he'll make excuses and never turn up at those events. |

Watching the Inauguration Concert is reminding me of how much I miss live entertainment. Can’t wait for things to get back to normal. Today was a good start!
I know we have a long road ahead of us, but for today, I’m feeling optimistic and joyful!
