I think those who planned this whole inauguration did an amazing job considering they had so many unusual situations to work around. So many touches that were awesome - the musical performers, the pledge that was signed while spoken, the poet, and others. They're to be congratulated they went above and beyond to make it special under very difficult circumstances. I agree - the ceremony wasn’t lacking in any sense at all 😊

What a happy day it was. It all went so smoothly, too. I went to bed feeling...relieved. And I want Dr. Biden’s coat and Michelle Obama’s outfit! They were both stunning.

The night was capped off when we saw the concert (the end) with Katy Perry singing Firework. Seeing the fireworks and seeing the Bidens together (looking so adorably in love---was she wearing a wrist corsage??). I loved seeing her lean into his shoulder--true love!! Going to bed feeling calm and happy. Ahhhh!
I noticed that as well. She's bringing back the wrist corsage and I'm here for it! It looked so pretty and elegant.

Tom Hanks was sooooo cold. Lol. Poor thing. I was expecting him to look like the daughter from Christmas Vacation every time the camera came back to him.

I didn’t know that Amanda Gorman suffered from a speech impediment when she young (er!) I think it makes her performance even more impressive 😊

Amanda Gorman is killing it. "What just is isn't always justice." You can support Amanda Gorman by pre-ordering her books! They are both on Amazon The titles are: Change Sings The Hill We Climb FYI buying a Black authors book before release is super helpful. www.epicreads.com/blog/preorder-books-by-black-authors/ June 2020 but a good list for YA books by black authors

After sleeping on it, I think that I definitely preferred last night’s Inaugural activities much more than looking in at the various Balls, where all the DC set are milling around in evening attire and drinks in their hands, watching the President and the First Lady dance and then move on to another Ball.
I hope future inaugurations think about continuing to make it a celebration that truly everyone in the nation can enjoy for the evening. That everyday people and artists around the nation are able to contribute. And the fireworks were such a treat and positively stunning. This was so much more inclusive of the nation as a whole and I hope at least some vestige of it continues on.

Can't see any coverage of the armed protesters outside other state capitols. Did that all come to nothing? Really pleased the inauguration went ahead without a hint of trouble but wondering how other locations fared. I know - I mentioned to someone last night that I had not heard anything about trouble in any state capitols. They showed a guy with a sign outside of a capitol (not sure which one) and said he was the only one who showed up. Maybe we will hear more now that the inauguration is over.

I saw them arrive - Melania has already embraced the retired old lady crocheted muumuu dress look. That's who she'll be socializing with, the old golf cart biddies who love her husband, might as well make an effort to fit right in with them Ooohhh line some of those peas in the Villages!
