I see that they voted to call witness, what does that mean? And why is Lady G threatening to call Pelosi like it is a bad thing for the prosecutors? My thoughts exactly. Don't just threaten, do it. Pelosi will eat those defense lawyers alive.

It’s absolutely hilarious to me just how much so many around Trump, including his lawyers, don’t understand how impeachment works. You’d think they’d have clued in after his first impeachment.
Idiots getting in a lather, drawing up a witness list in their head that I’m sure involves President Obama, Hilary Clinton, President Biden, and VP Harris. At this point I’m expecting some idiot to start spewing they’ll depose Hilary over Benghazi and her emails.

Didn’t he pronounce it ‘philidelphia’? He ramped the temperature up then said he was going to bring it down, as if it was nothing to do with him .

Who should the Democrats call? I'd like to see them call everyone that was in the Jan 5 Trump Tower pre-insurrection meeting. I'd also like to see them call Don Jr and Guilifoyle and have them explain their dancing at the pre-insurrection "watch party" on the 6th. I suspect they'll call Tuberville and McCarthy...

Graham has said if witnesses are called he wants to call President Biden. If that happened and I was President Biden I would say sure but only if trump testifies. What reason would they have to call Biden as a witness? Was he even in the Capitol on Jan 6th? Not that reason seems to come into any Republican decisions at the moment.

I'm all in favor of calling witnesses. The American public needs to hear people testify who are under oath.
They want to wrap this up quickly because every day will bring new opportunities for them to commit perjury and will cause more damage to Trump's "legacy" and to their own reputations.

BIG MISTAKE.,,
The individuals in question need to testify in person otherwise the other side will claim “fake news”.

Honestly, this is what is so infuriating about the Democrats.
They have a chance to put their knee on the throat of a killer, and then they go all 1930s Neville Chamberlain and add in a bit of Stockholm syndrome too. 😒😒🤦🏼♀️ Damn.

Noooo! We need people to be forced to tell the truth for our historical record.
They need to call the bluff of the defense attorney who claims to have "100 witnesses" who can successfully testify under oath.

they're voting now, aren't they? I clicked onto it, and had to click away. I can't listen to the smug Trumplicans' saying 'not guilty' one after another.

Noooo! We need people to be forced to tell the truth for our historical record. They need to call the bluff of the defense attorney who claims to have "100 witnesses" who can successfully testify under oath. I don't think it's a bluff. McConnell spent 8 year disrupting Senate business during Obama. I think he would be perfectly fine with essentially a filibustering of the trial until May. As long as this goes on appointments don't get their votes, COVID relief doesn't get passed, normal Senate business doesn't happen. Since everyone knows how the vote will go, and no piece of evidence will change the outcome then the game of chicken becomes: who will suffer worse? The GOP for being obstructionist and seen supportive of insurrection and sedition by the President? They already are wearing that mantle, stretching it out won't make it significantly worse. But the Democrats who are always supposed to be "the adults in the room" will be painted as the ones that put tilting at this windmill over the pragmatism of letting it end and get to the real work of fixing the multiple crises Americans are facing. History will have access to all the interviews, journalism and the more traditional criminal and civil litigation that will continue and it won't really matter what made it into the Senate record. I see the vote was already held. So now it's moot.

It never mattered how many witnesses they called. He was going to be acquitted, no matter what. It would have been a waste of time to call witnesses.
Now that the impeachment is over, they can focus on the judicial system cases. The impeachment was held because it had to be - and the majority of jurors felt that he was guilty. Sadly, it requires 2/3 of the jurors to find that he is guilty. There simply aren't enough republicans with the courage or fortitude to stand up against him, there never were. The 7 who did were willing to stick their necks out despite knowing that he was going to be acquitted.

And news stations etc, should always call him that "the twice impeached ex-president" And let me add my editorial opinion Susan Collins is a spineless c*nt, and I am sure that he learned his lesson again.

They may have acquitted, but that entire timeline put together by the house impeachment managers is on the record. That incredible piece of work is going to be what’s remembered in history. It’s going to destroy the Republican Party, as it should.

F@ckers. It will be a miracle if I ever again for a Republican for any office. I am so disgusted right now. If it wasn't snowing and 7 degrees, I would be tempted to go for a run. And I am not a runner. LOL

It’s going to destroy the Republican Party, as it should. God, I hope so. And I'm pretty much almost an atheist at this point, so that's saying something, for me. eta: elaine, maybe all those Trumpers mis-read the slogan on the hats, and instead of reading Make America Great Again, they thought it said Make America Hate (and HateD) Again. I sure hope the Democrats get down to work while they can. Because Trump and his ilk are going to do everything they can to stop it all in the meantime, and especially two and four years from now. At least his Twitter ban is permanent. right?
