And what is McConnell attempting to sell?

They may have acquitted, but that entire timeline put together by the house impeachment managers is on the record. That incredible piece of work is going to be what’s remembered in history. It’s going to destroy the Republican Party, as it should. I hope so. I am a former Republican (couldn't take the current Republicans) and I hope it destroys the current party.

And what is McConnell attempting to sell? Yes he votes not guilty, and now he goes on the record that trump is guilty? mea culpa

[div class="quote" author=" pyccku" source="/post/3278679/thread" timestamp="1403910727"] There simply aren't enough republicans with the courage or fortitude to stand up against him, there never were. The 7 who did were willing to stick their necks out despite knowing that he was going to be acquitted. This will always be in the History books, the twice impeached trump. And news stations etc, should always call him that "the twice impeached ex-president" And let me add my editorial opinion Susan Collins is a spineless c*nt, and I am sure that he learned his lesson again. [/div]She voted to convict. [/quote] I stand corrected. She was not on the summary list I looked at.

they're voting now, aren't they? I clicked onto it, and had to click away. I can't listen to the smug Trumplicans' saying 'not guilty' one after another. Same. I'm physically nauseous, couldn't listen to these horrific excuses for humans.

I’m so confused by McConnel. He voted for the impeachment trial but says now it was unconstitutional as Trump is no longer President - yet he himself delayed the trial .
He’s made it clearTrump was guilty . What a farce!

The lawyers and McConnell said it too... Charge him criminally in the courts. Not so easy, he very well has given himself a pardon. and THEY KNOW IT!!!

Not surprised at all. It was a done deal before the first day of the trial. Trump has ruined America and will continue to rape, plunder and pillage through his lying, boot-licking minions. Absolutely deplorable.

This makes me very sad and very afraid for what March 4th may bring. What is March 4? I don't have all the details, but there is an idea out there that Trump will take his rightful place as president on March 4th. It has something to do with it being the original inaugoration date, and every president since the late 1800's not being valid? So I think they believe Trump will be, like, the 19th president that is VALID. Boggles the goddamned mind how someone comes up with this stuff. A lot of people are worried this date will instigate another riot from QAnon followers when their fantasy (obviously) won't become reality.

Nancy Pelosi is going on about the cowardly Republicans at their little press conference.
But the way I see it the Democrats were just as cowardly when they caved on witnesses.
Would it have changed the final outcome? Probably not. But people would hear these Republicans answer questions, under oath, what happened that day like from McCarthy.
But they caved once again.
Its things like this is the reason the Democratic Party will never be the party that it should be. A bunch of wimps always shooting themselves in the foot.

Mitch McConnell has represented Kentucky since 1985. That’s during Reagan’s years, for reference. He’s seen 7 presidents come and go, more than a few of them served full 8 year terms. During that time Kentucky has only fallen lower on the national rankings in most things and become more dependent on federal funding. All while enriching his own power and wealth. Yet they keep voting for him. Such madness and futility and voting against your interests, is mind boggling.

So then the lawyers in criminal court can argue that since he was President when the incident occurred, the appropriate venue is Impeachment and Trial by Senate and the criminal court doesn't have jurisdiction. It's a nice little "January Exception" these strict Constitutionalists will be carving out by these maneuvers. Because of course, fomenting insurrection in the month preceding a change of party leadership and getting away with it, is what the Founders intended.

Our taxpaying citizens. Time they pay their own way!!!!

That may be true, but listening to the role some witnesses played in the events leading up to and on January 6 just might change how some voters vote.
As it stands now these Republicans get away with this stuff because they know they will be re-elected.
Maybe just maybe listening to live witnesses, from both sides, just might have changed how voters view the Republicans and maybe not elect as many as long as they keep putting power over country.
But we will never know now.

One can only hope and pray that Trump is charged and found guilty of SOMETHING that will stop him from running for public office ever again . Preferably his grifter kids as well.
I can only guess that no one in GOP has any ambition, because whilst Trump is around how can any of them progress through the ranks?
