People are posting so many photos on Instagram! I just plan to do a 6x8 album. It's only my second time doing this, but I figured last year's lockdown book shouldn't be my only one. I'm thinking as long as I have three or four pictures a day, I'm good. I'm making sure to take a weather app one everyday, just in case I don't have enough. Someone in the FB group posted they took 500 + on Monday! I wonder if they will crash & burn by Saturday. I did my WITL late last month, waiting on pics from PP. I was surprised by how few pics I took this time around. Which worked out well, as I have been into being "crafty" on my foundation pages-really enjoying it.

Back to the photos and such, I jacked up my knee on Sunday kicking the soccer ball around with my daughter so this week hasn't exactly gone how I thought it would but I've been taking pictures of random things throughout the day. I saw Veronica Creates approach on Instagram, she's using a 3x3 grid (9 photos) and just writing her journaling in a block and very minimally embellishing. I'm going to use that approach because it seems completely achievable to finish for me and we all know I have a problem finishing projects.

There are a lot of photos on Instagram that I might inwardly cringe at, this one is minor. Would I post something like this? Nope. But her Instagram, her choice and I'm assuming she got Aaron's permission to post. I've seen so many people on Instagram be awful, mean, critical and post personal attacks to the posters about what they were sharing. You don't like it, don't follow. At the end of the day, as long as there has been permission granted and it isn't hurting anyone it's her platform. She can post what she wants and if she loses or gains followers because it, that's how it goes. But honestly I don't think she cares. She's here for the stories and the real life stuff. I never got the impression that she was in it for the followers. I totally agree! Although I personally wouldn't share such an intimate photo, that's just my choice, I hardly share anything at all. But Ali has always been very open and comfortable about sharing her life and her relationships and I think 'Good for her!' Plus, I thought it was an awesome photo, especially with the cat in it! Yep. The cat makes the photo great.

And honestly looking back, she always has one post/photo for each WITL series that people find questionable. So this isn't surprising to me.

Hope your knee heals quickly! Someone in the FB group posted they took 500 + on Monday! I wonder if they will crash & burn by Saturday. Whoa. I hope they're a professional photographer or they're in for one heck of a weed-whacking session when they have to get through 3500 photos to find the good ones to use.

I could see myself taking 500 photos in one day if there was something planned that day. I can absolutely take over 500 photos if it's a full day of something special or out of the ordinary. My regular day? No. I wonder if they'll take 500+ each day? Whew, that's vacation type editing and cutting and I do not want that for my WITL, but good for them.

I'm doing work from home Wednesday today so my pictures will be of my desk and whatever else I can get that doesn't show sensitive information. Someone mentioned it on Saturday's chat and I thought it was a great idea. I will want to remember working from home in the future. I'll include my schedule on the journal cards.

My husband is still WFH and when I took a shot of him at his computer, I kept my aperture at 1.8 and focused on his hands that were clasped together with his elbows on the desk. This blurred his screen, but got his hands. It's one of my favorite shots from the day. I'm sure it'd be harder being solo, but I'm sure you'll come up with something.

I'm not doing WITL and I haven't seen the photo everyone is talking about but I saw comments about it in the AE thread and had to come over to check in on you guys. Thanks for the laughs I'm imagining it (with hidden bumbo seat, of course) and in my imagination it's awkward and hilarious and I really don't need to see it IRL. Thanks for not posting it! I'm having fun trying to imagine where the cat should be in the mental picture I'm creating... There are usually pictures she posts that feel too personal and intimate... It's a fine line sometimes. The in bed photos usually get a bit too close to my personal line. I remember Elise Cripe posted some kind of DITL thing on IG one year and she included a photo of the bathroom as she was getting into the shower looking down at the clothes and underwear dropped on the floor and it just felt too intimate - you couldn't see the inside of her underpants but it was *almost* like you could and just... ick! shudder... Not everything needs to be shared, at least not on IG - put it in your album, sure! Do what you want. But not everything needs to go on the page your friends, family, and customers are scrolling through. And yeah, we can scroll right on by, but it's also been put out there publicly so, yeah, I'm going to have an opinion to share. 🙈

I didnt many great photos today, but I was stuck at home for most of the day waiting on a hone security guy to come fix my house cameras. He was a no show, so I get to do it again tomorrow. Todays photos that I took:
*weather app *alarm set for the 7:00am *self timer shot of me filling a mop bucket *car wash *screenshot of text from DS2 (he just figured out Hawaii has snow skiing and he is excited) *screenshot of DS1 of his semester grades - 4.0! *self timer shot of me getting laundry out of the dryer *Annie, my dog, threatening to jump off the bed if I dont get her *A photo of both dogs snuggled up, waiting on DH to come home from work *Scout, my other dog, giving DS1 a nose lick when he got in his face

When I did WITL in the past I took a lot more photos than I needed most days, especially at the beginning of the week, but nowhere near hundreds. I usually take a fair number of pictures day to day anyway but I learned that taking too many for WITL was a major headache. Even if a bunch of the 500 pictures were self timer bursts that still represents hours of work just to choose which photos to use. I would never get done. I'm enjoying www.instagram.com/shannan_pages/ - as always she's keeping it simple, just a handful of photos each day and morning, afternoon, evening journaling spots.

I'm still considering getting it because propping up my iphone is getting annoying. I didn't take a lot of photos yesterday but I can work with what I have. I always forget to take photos in the morning when we're all scrambling about getting ready for school and work. I guess I need to set an alarm to remind me to take a photo.

I think I am doing ok on taking pictures and writing down our schedule. I have been saving the front page of the newspaper from newseum everyday. We are not doing very much. It is pretty mundane stuff but it will be good to have in a few years. Tonight is bath night for my daughter so I will get a bath picture for sure. I won't post it on IG or anywhere. She is really into drawing maps with her bath crayons. I could post a picture of that.
ETA: I have been tired all week so that isn't helping with the excitement.

This is my 5th or 6th year doing WITL and I have definitely found a rhythm this year. I know what photos I want to take and can see the album coming together in my head. I absolutely take fewer photos than past years. But also, I no longer feel the need to document hour by hour as in previous years. I just love this project!

If you're doing WITL along with AE (and her bathtub), you are in the homestretch!! Even if you missed a day or half a day, one note or photo is something. We won't judge.

I'm glad today is the last day, TBH. I like looking through all the photos I've taken (not 500+ thank goodness) and I've jotted down some story ideas but for the most part I'm going to follow my normal who, what, when, where and maybe an occasional why. I was looking at Leilani Scraps instagram and I like her simple approach along with Veronica Creates, so I think I'll be incorporating these styles into my WITL. I love seeing all the really clever and creative pages people have been making but I just simply want to get this project done, so basic is the key for me. It's 16:35 here in northern California, how are the rest of you peeps doing? Are you glad it's over?

I’m at that point where I’m trying to evaluate what I’ve missed and get photos of that stuff. Loading the dishwasher. Our vehicles. My closet. I will be glad to be done though.

I need to grab a photo of how much gas costs, and screenshot some photos of what we've been watching on Tv. I took about 10 photos a day and will probably use 4. Im good with what I have.

This is my first time doing this and next time I will plan the photos better. But I am not against taking extra photos next week that fit my stories for this past week. I really wanted to do this project this week because today is the 7th anniversary of my mother's passing, and I wanted to include my thoughts on that. I'm going to basic also.

Sounds great, jediannie! WITL is about capturing the essence of everyday life and routines so you really don't need much more than the 4/5W to complete the primary objective of the project (although it can be fun too to be introspective, of course). Now I'm left wondering what happened to the lady on FB who'd announced she had over 500 photos for day 1? kimba Do you have an update? I took about 10 photos a day and will probably use 4. Im good with what I have. Yah, more my pace! Are you going full page with some of the photos? I really wanted to do this project this week because today is the 7th anniversary of my mother's passing, and I wanted to include my thoughts on that. *hugs* I hope this project allowed you to record your feelings and thoughts on such an important matter. So sorry about your mother. It's not easy losing a beloved parent and while time does help heal, it doesn't erase the loss.

I have no idea how many photos I have. I had plans to use my dslr but quickly ditched it for the simple fact that my phone makes things less complicated. I probably go through pics in the next couple of days and start putting my album together within the next 2 weeks.

Ok, I’m at the point now that I have to not look at what anyone else is doing and just go with my plan from ahead of time. If I abandon the plan to do something ‘fancy’ I won’t get it done. Other than the Monday I think I did ok with pictures. Certainly not 500. Lol I can’t really take many pictures at actual work but I can between places so that’s what I did. So I think I’ll prep my stuff for printing and work on it Memorial Day weekend because I’m busy this coming weekend. Stick to the plan. Stick to the plan. That’s my mantra right now

I follow Tazhiana Gordon who did WITL for the first time last week. She’s working on choosing from 700-odd photos... later she got it down to 400ish. Ugh. I did love that her husband took photos of her (and they were really good photos) and the work photos she shared were great - challenging for a nurse trying to protect patient privacy. But that’s going to be a very full album or a lot of work to get down to a reasonable number per day.

There are days when I'm lucky if I remember to take 3 or 4 photos. I don't need a photo of every little thing.

I personally like to have somewhere between 7-10 photos per day plus a few good ones that I like to enlarge. So in reality I will use under 75 photos total. Ones that don't make it into my WITL will go into my PL album. I can't imagine 400+ photos! No wonder she got overwhelmed and hasn't finished an album yet 😳
*edited to add, I went back and counted 296 photos total for the whole week.

somewhat related because it's during witl but in general, how do you guys document the hard things you don't want in the open?
my mom was admitted to the ER towards the end of the week and I stopped taking photos for the most part. i'd been talking about her being sick prior and taking photos of her meds, coffee, etc to include in the stories of our week so I feel it's important to document too.
hidden journaling maybe? even without many photos I have some sentiment/quote cards from fyc that might work for putting tags behind filled with the story.

Hope she's feeling better! I would for sure do hidden journaling. I do that all the time for things I don't want out in the open to be read. I'm going to put a story with hidden journaling in my WITL about an epiphany I had about my struggle with being a stay at home parent vs. a work out of the house parent and I don't necessarily want everyone to read that when flipping through this album. I can't imagine 400+ photos! No wonder she got overwhelmed and hasn't finished an album yet 😳 *edited to add, I went back and counted 296 photos total for the whole week. I took 161 photos last week and I'm overwhelmed thinking about that. I've been looking through the photos and have my plan for stories now I just need to print the photos (always my struggle) get it into the book.
