somewhat related because it's during witl but in general, how do you guys document the hard things you don't want in the open? my mom was admitted to the ER towards the end of the week and I stopped taking photos for the most part. i'd been talking about her being sick prior and taking photos of her meds, coffee, etc to include in the stories of our week so I feel it's important to document too. hidden journaling maybe? even without many photos I have some sentiment/quote cards from fyc that might work for putting tags behind filled with the story. I hope your mom is on the mend! That's got to be hard on you, too. I usually do hidden journaling: something I make, so in this case I might use a KP F Bomb stamp for the card, or use a card from the stash. Then just tag it somehow so I know there's more behind it. Sometimes it has to be an accordion style because it takes that much space. Or a flip card. But, definitely hidden journaling. My DD has taken to reading a lot of my scrapbooks and I'm not sure I took very good care when she was younger because it didn't necessarily cross my mind, now I'm more careful.

Oooh thanks nicolep, I love the album jenna sorry to hear about your mom, how is she doing ? Would you be able to get your mom's hospital bracelet when she leaves? I've used that instead of a photo and I've also taken a picture of the bracelet and used that instead. You could create a mini pocket with the photo on the front and then write a "letter" that you can put in the pocket. There is something so striking, and deeply meaningful (at least to me) about those bracelets. They instantly take me back and bring back really strong feelings & memories.

THIS. ♥ I LOVE this WITL album! It has pushed me over the edge on buying a CT Life Crafted album. http://instagr.am/p/CPA6162gY2- Thanks, I had not seen this memory keeper before. Love her work!

dawnnikol jediannie ty for the ideas and well wishes! @northrigg I didn't even think about the bracelet, I'll definitely do something surrounding it when all's over. She's doing as well as she can be ahah. She's bored, says all her nurses are slow (they have to help her to the bathroom) and wants her big comfy bed back. She really hates hospitals which makes it worse & why it took so long to convince her to go, and feels guilty about "ruining" my birthday next week. But I'm like, "holy crap that's so unimportant right now!" and I'm matched with "but you're important". moms will be moms lol

jenna Wishing your mother a speedy recovery. Is she fully vaxxed? I was so worried having my unvaccinated (at the time since not eligible back then where we live) mother in ICU in January. They had Covid-19 patients in the same unit. Couldn't wait for her to get better so she could come home and be safe. I'm siding with hidden journaling, too. Especially if other people flip through your albums.

Sorry to hear about your mother jenna, but I agree on hidden journaling. I have some of those Simple Stories flaps that would work well for that. I actually do most of my journal hidden, not because I want it private but just for space. I usually stick it between a page of photos on each side with some type of tab to pull it out. I did get some of the kit elements this year and I think I am going to use those large half circles for that purpose, which means they will prob be cut down a bit. So far I made a photo album on my phone and dumped 68 photos into it. I have learned to not take too many photos. I don't really do a true "week in the life" I do a more curated what I want to remember about regular life from this time/space/year. I am not concerned about when it will get done, I have to merge some photos onto the same 4x6 and wait for a sale to get prints. All of my journaling and notes are in my Day One app and Pages when I am ready to put it all together. I think I may also add some digital journaling and stamps to some photos, so will go thru and do that as well. Looking forward to seeing what everyone makes!

For my only DITL I did 8x8 photobook with one picture per page with the time. Then I added time based breakdowns for morning, afternoon and evening. I'm not sure what most people do for WITL. That much detail seems too much. I definitely don't have the notes or pictures to do that for everyday.
I guess my question is do you put times on your photos?

I’ve started with end of the week and I’ll have to work my way back. Here are Saturday and Sunday. I kept it really simple.

I don't think I ever added time stamps even though I had them as part of the metadata on the photos. It makes sense for DITL but you're right, it's a bit too much detail for a week-long project that tends to taper off as the days go on. I would only add times if it was significant to the story. I think most people go with a bit more generalized approach to WITL, and I guess themed reflections are more common, like "overheard" or "Mondays are for..." or watching, reading, loving lists. I've seen some people just do a page per time block each day - Monday morning, afternoon, evening, and other people write out a full day's chronology in one journal block. But do whatever works for you.

Finally sat down and got the bones of my album set up. I'm using a sb.com 6x8 album and I'm happy to report that the Heidi swapp 6 hole punch for her planner series lines up with the right holes. I don't care that 4 aren't in use...2 line up so I'm good with that. I bought the 3x8 cards and punched those directly to add in. Still wanting to come up with a good idea for those acetate half circles. I haven't found much inspiration for those yet. I have a bit of an idea but I'm not loving it.

I finally got my day 1 photos printed out! That's always the hardest part each year, just doing it. It helps that I finally decided that I should get my photos printed so I can take it along with me this weekend since the weather's going to be more appropriate for fishing than swimming at my dad's lake.

WITL album well underway. Layout is finished, words typed up. I just ordered my photos. HOOOOOLLLY Hannah did that cost a small fortune. I blew my previous order total out of the water by over $40. I really wish I could find an alternative to Persnickety.

I really wish I could find an alternative to Persnickety. I've actually had some decent prints from FreePrints, although it's been awhile since I've ordered from them. I still haven't done anything with this project, I have the photos figured out and the journaling is done, now i just have to get it into an album.

I might compare prices to see. I use Persnickity because of the 6x8 and 3x4 sizes are so darn convenient. Plus I like the white border and that makes each 3x4 .50 each. I should probably just take fewer photos.

I have to laugh because I put this project off until June to avoid all the rain we usually get in May. I chose next week because it’s the last normal week before we have some major changes to our schedules. Of course the forecast is showing rain everyday Mon-Friday 😑lol

I can see the finish line! I am working on my last day and then have some general embellishing to do to see what I can add in order to use up any extras I don't really want to keep around.
I do have a 6x4 pocket to deal with every day. It's the day of the week card from the PP kit that I intended to do some general Journaling on, but instead recreated the "ing" card from Ali's kit. The day card is still in its spot for each day, blank, but I'm not sure yet if I'll write on it, add a photo to part of it or print a 6x4 photo for each day & take it out completely...

I've got my big photos printed and all my pictures in up until Thursday. I ven figured out what I wanted to do with the half circles. I usually go through and do all the photos, then go and do all the journaling, then back to embellish. It seems to work best for me.

I ended up doing WITL this past week and I am happy that I managed to keep going every day. I didn't take many photos but I remembered to do my journalling every evening and I can always take some filler photos if necessary. This week I hope to start putting my album together.

I always wondered what significance lasteve was. LA Steve? Last Eve? 😉 It was LA Steve... first middle initials and first 5 letters of my ex's last name... the format my college used for logins, ha. But no real meaning to me, especially since that hasn't been my last name in 13 years!

Finally finished! I had to push through on the embellishments but it's done. Whew! I had tried to use the pleather tags but holy they added way too much bulk! So I took them out and will use them on something else. My desk is now cleaned and ready to go for PL catch up.
