Ok just a quick question. Last night I sorted and printed my photos for January. I've decided to do a monthly collection of pictures. But with that said, I went to Pinterest and looked for pocket page ideas. And it seemed like all the Pinterest layouts were still one pocket page = one event. Whereas I want to do a random assortment of photos in one pocket page. Does that make sense? If I wanted to scrapbook only one "idea" at a time, I would just scrapbook the traditional way. One page at a time. Does anyone do a more random type of page with an eclectic mix of photos? Would you be willing to share one of your pages? Just so I can see how you've done it? I would really appreciate it. I just need to think this out in my head before I start putting my page together. flic.kr/p/2kXfg57flic.kr/p/2kXfg5xI'm a total noob over here so I'm not sure how to add photos TO the post, but here are two photos of a random week in our world (two photos because one of the bottom left photos has a flip up, so I showed both). This is nothing special, artistically speaking, but I'm so glad to have this "normal stuff" documented!

Thank you so much for sharing gb2015 Your page looks so cohesive despite the variation in photos. I'm impressed. I've been pushing paper and photos around all morning. I just need to drop everything and go for it. Because I'll never learn without just trying.

I just sat down and did it. And I have to say it was very satisfying to actually feel like I scrapbooked and journaled the month of January in about 2 hours. That seemed awesome to me. It is a bit fiddly as far as trimming things and sizing everything up correctly, though. But all in all, I'm pleased with myself.

Here’s an all b&w spread I did that I hated at the time but kind of love now http://instagram.com/p/COfWRZQAZ5f

Do you mix it up in your albums? I have a bunch of good pics from Halloween this year. So. Many. Pictures. I was going to scrap all my 2020 layouts traditionally but now since I'm not great at multi-photo layouts, I'm considering doing PL spreads for the pictures. It just seems like it would be so much easier.

Do you mix it up in your albums? Yes, for some of my travel albums I've done full page layouts, pocket page layouts and random sizes as well all mixed in one 12x12. I've yet to complete a PL album for a full year, I only have bits and pieces from random years. This year I'm doing 9x12 and plan on mixing up the page styles although on a slightly smaller scale.

We definitely had fun with it and I love to save stuff like that because I know that 6 months later even things that feel super pervasive and all over the place will kind of erase from our memories, haha!

And if I don't have another full size layout I want to do for the back of the page protector I slip in one of my favorite papers and call it good. Deciding to do that freed me up to do whatever I want.

joblackford Tagging you to ask where you stand on PL these days. I know we're both breaking free from page protectors like they're poorly tailored bras whenever possible. Are you documenting the everyday in some other way these days?

joblackford Tagging you to ask where you stand on PL these days. I know we're both breaking free from page protectors like they're poorly tailored bras whenever possible. Are you documenting the everyday in some other way these days? After slogging through last year's virus diaries, October Daily, and Christmas journal projects I realized that I don't have much energy for scrappy projects lately. But yes, I have a blurb photo book project that I'm mostly keeping up with that ends up being a little year in review for my family overseas, and I have some digital pages of movies/books/TV/silly things that I haven't been keeping up with but intend to work on - just quick fun pages for myself. I have my Day One journal which I write in every night, and I also auto-slurp my Instagram posts into Day One, which could function like a kind of PL. Ephemera stickers and pretty things go into a TN notebook, very loose and I'm behind on that too. I've been going through old projects and trying to figure out which ones are fun to look through and which ones aren't, so I can consider which ones are worth making more of, which formats I enjoy. The answer seems to be TNs. Currently more than half of the "books" on the built-in bookcase in our living room are scrapbooks, photobooks, or journals. Not all of them bring me joy tbh. The binders with pocket page protectors generally don't. Especially the SC Handbook ones where the rings are too high up so the protectors slump down... I'm not sure how I'll feel about the content in the future but I don't have any desire to go back to pocket pages, no matter how convenient it is to tuck in photos and cards.

When I started PL in 2013 I overthunk every detail so much, and couldn't get going... Until I just decided I had to start and figure it out as I went along. It took a while to develop my own style and methods that worked for me but I couldn't get there without putting things into the pockets and making some pages.

This is the first year I've decided to really do PL for our album and I am SO surprised how much I'm enjoy it. For me, its been less overwhelming to complete and I can stay fairly up to date. Looking at my shelves I have so many albums, which we all enjoy at the moment, but I am preferring to just document one year in this album this year. I also have so many finished pages from prior years that I just can't get the motivation to put into order and into albums. Probably because there are SO many and I don't even know where to start! I think I have pages from 2010-2018 and still have pages to complete from those years.

I worked on April PL today. Apparently its a lot - I am on my 6th 'side' and normally I only have 4 for a month. Should finish tomorrow.

joblackford Kudos to you for figuring out what you actually love, both to create and to flip through. The fun thing about scrapbooking as that you get to evolve, try out new "trends" or formats and make up your mind as you go. I'm still considering going cardboard covers, rings, cardstock cut to be the size of 6x8 page protectors and the occasional PPs in the future. A hybrid if you will. I've found that I'm not necessarily crazy about actual albums either and happy with the DIY covers instead... Oy vey, talk about complicated! mom I think those extra pages are a good sign that you're easing back into full-on life after being fully vaxxed! I bet I'm going to have way more stuff to document once I can start venturing out again, too.

I love your layouts jeremysgirl! My photos are always a random mix of everything. This year I picked one collection (Simple Stories Hello Today) and am using it for all my spreads, along with a kit of supplies (old PL cards, papers, etc.) that I have pulled to coordinate. Using the coordinated supplies is helping me to feel like my pages look more cohesive, even with the mishmash of photos. I'm also embracing all sizes and orientations of page protectors and filler cards to help hide any gaps. I have finished through to the end of March in my album and have all my April photos printed, but I caved and ordered some stamp sets from Studio Calico that I want to use on my April spreads, so those are on hold pending delivery of that package. If I get some time I might map out which photos will go in pockets and which will get layouts. April was a busy month with tons of photos, so a bit out of the norm for me in a good way. Overall I am super happy with my album, and I think being very loose with my ideas of what each month should contain is helping me to just push forward and get it done.

Any Catholic peas? Is this sacrilegious? Power went out, had one candle, and these were less than $2.00 at the grocery store. I was about to decorate the trees for summer. It's like a Catholic Memorial Day shrine or something.🤣😄 Anyway, this is going in the family album/project life style.

Every spring, the birds come back. One year they were so loud you couldn't hear the employees. I almost took a photo of the sign that said our ice cream machine works, you can work here too. Apply inside. Then a little boy across the street at Wendy's dropped his pants and peed on the lawn! The parents did not seem to care. Bathroom was open inside! I had just attended a funeral for an engaged couple that died in a car accident (my daughter's friends). I needed grease and caffeine. 🙁

Just like that, it went from cold spring to a couple days of perfect spring and now this. It's the WTForecast app. There's profanity filters. Mine is on none. 😁
