So what's your hot summer day favorite bubbly refresher? and..is it Pop or soda or something else to you? I am not a soda drinker at all, I almost always just drink water. Lately though I've been on a Root Beer kick. Its so delicious and for whatever reason it doesn't burn my throat or my nose like the colas to. What's your favorite? I tagged all those I can think of. Seeing the other thread where we are all calling Mary jane by different names got me thinking about the soda vs pop debate. And, actually, what do you call the herbal green refreshment? In my world its weed.

I used to love Dr. Pepper, but I gave up soda (not pop!) completely about 18 months ago. I will occasionally have fizzy water (DH drink it a lot), but otherwise I'm a still water or coffee drinker.

I’m with you, and ice water is 99% of what I drink. But for sodas, I prefer Dr. Pepper most days with root beer a not so distant 2nd. Do you have a BJ’s near you? They have an in-house root beer that is excellent.

My favorite POP is Mountain Dew. But I'm drinking so much less of it these days. My replacement is Root Beer, zero sugar. I voted Mountain Dew because it's still my favorite.

I stopped drinking soda many years ago. My favorite was Diet Coke. I didn’t pick Coke in the poll because Diet definitely has a different taste. It is not as sweet tasting. And Pepsi was even sweeter.
Now, I drink water or unsweetened iced tea (black or green).

I’ve never heard anyone call it pop IRL, although I do know they say that in other parts of the country.
We drink Dr. Pepper and we just say Dr. Pepper.

I drink mostly ice water but have been on a Diet Pepsi kick lately. My real preference is Sprite Zero from a fountain. I also love Fresca and root beer but rarely drink root beer because I like it with all the sugar.
ETA when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s here in Massachusetts we called it tonic. At some point it changed to soda, probably because the rest of the country thought we were crazy.

Dr. Pepper zero is my fav. If that's not available then Diet Dr. Pepper with Pepsi zero a runner up. We call it soda here.

My favorite soda is Dr. Pepper (of your choices) but I gave up soda when I hit 50 so that was 11 years ago-that's when I decided to work on getting healthier. Now I drink ice water or coffee. My all time favorite soda though is an Italian brand of soda called "San Pellegrino Limonata" or lemon soda. It's amazing and so refreshing. Once in awhile I will splurge and have one of those but not too often because I don't want to get hooked on soda again.
Herbal refreshment I have always called weed. The recreational type.
Since I began using it medically though for the past almost 3 years (very successfully by the way to combat chronic migraines) I call that cannabis or medical marijuana. BTW, had a monster migraine last night after those wicked storms came through here (Annapolis, MD with our tornado warning), and was able to take the pain away within minutes from a pain level of 8 on a scale of 1-10 to a 1 from smoking a 1/3 of a joint, and then was able to completely break the migraine (meaning it went away completely and never came back) using a capsule of 100 mg. THC of cannabis. That might sound like a lot but I have a very high tolerance. The point I'm trying to make here is that it completely killed that migraine which is something I haven't been able to do many times with even the latest and most expensive pharmaceutical medications I'm prescribed and have taken in the past. I am so very blessed to have an incredible, open minded migraine specialist who recommended I try medical marijuana 3 years ago when nothing else at the time was working for me, and to live in a state where medical is legal. Sorry-didn't mean to go on so long about this.

Never been a Coke or Pepsi fan. I am on restricted fluids so apart from my precious cups of tea I like diet Tonic water and Elderflower. The tap water where I live is awful. We call it pop, Soda water is another drink. The herbal green refreshment is dope.

I don’t reach for a soda as a summer refresher (prefer a flavored or plain water, Dry Soda, or a rose wine or cocktail), but I do enjoy an occasional soda with a burger or just on its own. Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sarsaparilla, Root Beer, Birch Beer are all good. These days if I buy one I prefer a natural soda like Blue Sky that doesn’t use HFCS. Just tastes better IMO.
And, I call it both soda and pop, but I don’t use the term Coke to reference all soda. If I say Coke I mean Coca-cola.

Among rural and older Okies it is all coke, then the waitress askes what kind of coke. My favorite changes every few weeks. But it only circulates among the dark or colored "cokes" Dr Pepper, Root beer, fruity carbonated drinks.... ginger ale and seltzers are the only clear carbonated drinks. Sprite/7-up/Mountain dew never taste right to me.

Honestly, I love any kind of carbonated beverage. I love opening the fridge and having a large variety of sodas and sparkling waters available to me. Right now, we have Fresca, Diet Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke, and assorted Spindrifts. My youngest loves Root Beer. My husband likes Diet Coke.
Regarding your other question—I use the term “weed”, I guess? I was actually just researching dispensaries in Boston, as I’ll be there for a few days this month!
ETA: I remember going to a place called The Pop Shoppe when I was growing up in NY. Just individual sodas in different flavors. I was in heaven.

I don't do pop (Canadian here lol) anymore. I do a ton of sparkling water from my soda stream. No flavours just the water.

When I could drink soda, it was Dr. Pepper tied with Cherry Vanilla Coke.
Due to HFCS and CS I can no longer drink them.
Last time I had a Mexico Coke was 2 years ago.

My favorite caffeine free pop is Faygo Rock & Rye or Faygo redpop. My favorite caffeinated pop is coke, preferably McDonald's coke or Coke with real sugar.
As for what I call weed, it depends on context lol. Generally cannabis, but I do tell one guy at work that his office smells like weed (usually when he has come back from the cultivation facility.) We dont really call it marijuana except when discussing the regulatory agency or the law because that is the term they use.

As a treat, grape soda
I like root beer, especially Culver's root beer. Love a good root beer float!

My favorite sodas are Mountain Dew and Cherry Coke, but I stopped drinking caffeine about 5 years ago, so now if I want a soda it's root beer or Sprite.

I do like root beer, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but that’s a whole other discussion! Root beer is Dh’s favorite soda.
I am currently on a Zero Sugar Diet Ginger Ale kick, I was drinking Diet Pepsi but quit b/c of ulcers and caffeine. I limit myself to one can a day. All is well now, but I am liking the Ginger Ale and probably won’t go back to the cola for a while. Here in AR it’s all Coke or pop, but being raised in NY it’s still soda to me.

But my Soda Stream and MiO drops are my daily go tos.
