The Walking Dead. I think I watched about 5 or 6 seasons, and then I just couldn't take it anymore. Same. After the way they killed off Glenn and Abraham, I stopped. Also lost interest in Blacklist and Longmire.

I stopped watching Walking Dead, but am waiting to hear how the peas who are watching view the ending, if they liked it I will pick up from where we left off. XFiles is one I stopped. For those of you with unfinished HIMYM business you can watch the finale and right when the mom says “My name is…” TURN IT OFF. me too on Walking Dead. I gave up that one season when they were all kneeling waiting for Nagen to swing his club. That did it for me and I couldn't bear to watch it anymore. I never saw spoilers (did it end even? I stopped keeping up). That was the last episode I watched as well. I was done!!

Walking Dead.
We watched until they "killed off" Rick and then we finished watching...

The joke around my house is my husband is notorious for watching every single episode of some series and then leaving the very last one on the DVR for years and years. Then he buys the series either on disc or electronically and deletes the last episode off the DVR but never watches the last episode in his purchased media. Burn Notice is the one we joke about all the time. But it's just one of dozes of examples of this phenomenon.

The Good Doctor--i watched the first 3 seasons and the Covid episodes from this year & didn't watch any more. Even though I know they have moved on (unlike Grey's), I just haven't gotten back into it.
Manifest--watched & enjoyed the first two seasons, but never started the 3rd. Now I'm not sure I will.
Otherwise nothing current. I remember not watching older shows thru to the end, but that would have been in the days of either watch it live or tape it on VHS.
So proud & jealous of everyone who has been able to quit Grey's. I am so ready for it to be done (even before this Covid-centered season) but I've watched it since season 2 and feel like I have to finish it. I felt the same about ER too, but they at least had the sense to finally end after 15 seasons.

I did it with Alias, Scandal, and Designated Survivor.
Alias got too stressful for me, never knowing really if her dad was going to double cross her. Scandal became too much with the blatant celebration of adultery and the increasingly gory scenes, and Designated Survivor was an entirely different show when Netflix brought it back.
And don’t even get me started on Veronica Mars. That one still pisses me off.

NCIS- I used to watch it religiously. It was my favorite show and I never missed an episode. When they brought Ellie in they lost me. It just became so boring and dull.
Manifest-when they still hadn’t answered what happened to the damn plane after two seasons, I gave it up. I think it’s disrespectful to audiences when writers drag stuff on for so long. Now that I know the show ended and people still don’t know, I’m glad I didn’t invest further.

I tried to quit Greys once or twice but I always come back. This past season wasn't my favorite but overall I think the past 2-3 seasons have been better than some in the middle of their run.

So so many. This is Us because I just didn’t need the drama and tears I got tired of crying. Mentalist as the story line got dragged our too long. Greys, desperate housewives, blacklist, castle, handmaids tale I think I watched the first 2 seasons but may have quit before then. Orange is the new black only watched a few seasons.
Smallville, arrow, gotham, shield, legends. They all got too angsty. Artie too many flashbacks. I’m sure there are a few others if this type that we also stopped watching.
I’m really bummed by s few of the cancellations this year and still watch a few shows that I wouldn’t be that upset if they did. Lol.

there's a couple shows I *WISH* I had stopped, after seeing how crappy the last season ended up, lol!! Game of Thrones, anyone?!? blech! Also Fringe-- it was really a cool show, sort of like the X-Files, and then they ended up with an 'alternate universe wants to take over our world' type thing. Also blech. I loved the ending of Fringe, I thought it was perfect.

The X-Files, I didn't like Robert Patrick's character so I stopped watching, I did love the newer seasons though.
True Blood, I never watched the final season, just lost interest in it.
I stopped watching it then, too. Without Mulder it just wasn’t the same. The chemistry between Mulder and Scully was the whole reason it worked so well, without him it was just blah.

Yep, that’s why I watched it, too. I did like the ending of Fringe too, it seemed appropriate for the kind of show it was. It was funny to see Walter in the newest Conjuring movie. I’d forgotten how much I liked that show, might be time for a rewatch.

I want to give it up, and I should, but I feel like I have made it this far. And I think the last season was supposed to be the last, but it keeps on going. I don't think there is a new end date now. For me, ER is a major one. I stopped watching maybe the last 1-2 seasons, but did tune in for the last episode. Also, it was never a must see, but American Housewife. I think it was funny to me the first season or 2, but then I just kept watching it just because. I should have quit a long time ago.

Just remembered I gave up on Outlander. I gave up after the daughter TT. I wasn't into her and her whiney husband so I gave up. I loved the first few seasons but I was into Jamie and Claire.

Ones we once loved but eventually stopped watching:
Grey's Anatomy Blacklist How To Get Away With Murder Days of Our Lives (watched from 1966 until sometime in the 90's ~ finally gave myself permission to quit and it was very freeing!) ER Glee Revenge
Ones we once loved and wished we had stopped watching:
Modern Family LOST

Maybe it has gotten better in that regard but we just couldn't take it any longer. ER was a major one for us too. I think we stopped after Anthony Edwards died. That episode was heart wrenching.

The Walking Dead. I think I watched about 5 or 6 seasons, and then I just couldn't take it anymore. Me, too. It got too depressing watching how horribly humans were treating each other.

I watched Dawson's Creek for the first 4 seasons but gave up and didn't watch the last 2 I watched Smallville for the first 6 seasons but not the last 4 They were good shows but I think new shows started coming on and at the time my DVR would only record one show at a time so I just kind of lost interest in the those 2 anymore
I also stopped watching ER before it finished. I LOVED ER and never thought I would give it up but the story lines got more ridiculous, all the original characters were gone and it was like they were doing what they could to gross you out each week. I watched it up until the helicopter fell on Romano and killed him and at the end of that episode, I said "I will NEVER watch this show again" - I didn't care that they the killed Romano, I thought that having him die by a helicopter falling on him (after his arm was already slashed off by one) - was just so stupid !!

Yes, the episode where Dr Greene dies has always stayed with me. It was heart wrenching. I was just thinking yesterday how I really haven't seen him much in anything. I like him as an actor.

I'm a notorious fuck-it-I'm-out person when it comes to TV series. I'm the absolute opposite with books. Go figure. I do usually watch the final episode eventually (and it always fails to lure me back in to catch up with the rest I've missed). Broke it off with less than 1.5-ish seasons to go off the top of my mind (I'm sure the graveyard is way more filled than I'm willing to remember): Game of Thrones, Lost, iZombie, Bones, Weeds, Bates Motel. Heck, I didn't even finish the Harry Potter movies despite reading all the books. I've never made it past some point in Half-Blood Prince. Oh well. ETA: Somebody should start a SO thread about the TV series you cannot believe you managed to finish.

How I Met Your Mother - I watched all but the final 2 seasons. It just got really stupid. I gave up on Grey’s Anatomy around season 7…I felt it had jumped the shark and was nearing the end. Who could have guessed it would still be on this many years later??! I am a completionist … I have a hard time letting things go because I want to know how it’s going to end. But more and more as I get older, I can walk away from stupid shows quite easily. I should have had How I Met Your Mother on my list as well. I quit about the time you did. DH watched it to then end so I got snippets here and there enough to know why people hated the ending. I'm also someone who completes things which is why I still haven't deleted Good Girls from my watching list on Hulu but I know I'm just done with it. Apparently I'm in the minority as I love Grey's. I didn't start watching for years. I tried the first episode free on Amazon and then ordered DVD's off Ebay of the first seasons. This was before you could stream it everywhere. I've kept up and plan to continue. I got annoyed with how long they drug out Covid this season but mostly I look forward to each episode.

Apparently I'm in the minority as I love Grey's. You are not alone - I have watched it since day 1 and I still love it. Even though only 3 original characters have left, I love all the other characters and the stories are still so good. It is my only "will-not-miss" show.

Desperate Housewives Fringe Days of Our Lives Walking Dead Fear the Walking Dead
Somehow I am still sticking with Greys Anatomy though I think it should have ended many seasons ago. I told my dh I am not starting anymore new tv shows or series that he dvrs. I would rather watch something on Netflix or listen to music or read stuff online.

I think I also stopped watching CSI (the original; I never got sucked into any of the spinoffs) some time into the series... around the time that Grissom and Sara got together, maybe-- and then Grissom left the show. It could never be the same without Gil Grissom's intensity.
I think I quit watching Gilmore Girls after Rory and the rich boyfriend got together (did they get married?) because for me, the show was more about the quirky people in the town along WITH Lorelei and Rory's relationship, and I felt like the show lost something when they focused more on Rory.
there's another couple I *know* I quit for specific reasons, but I can't remember them right now. I DID have to watch Dawson's Creek all the way thru, even though their teen angst and the 'will she pick Dawson, or will she pick Pacey?" suspense was drawn out waaaaay too long-- I just had to know!!'

Only difference is that I think I gave up after season 5 or 6. I'm always a bit shocked when there are commercials for it on tv! Katie--Are you a time traveler? How are you posting back in 2014? One Tree Hill as well! Katie--Are you a time traveler? How are you posting back in 2014? I saw that and thought I had posted on an old thread!
