The time has come to break through some cobwebs and open our coffins so we can gather to discuss all things October documenting! To my dearly departed beloved admirers of all things spooky and kooky, welcome. Here's to crunchy leaves, ghostly ghosts, scary witches, lovable monsters and PSL, of course! If you too are a lover of autumn and the countdown to All Hallow's Eve and wish to join the scrappy October fun, make yourself at home. Do you have any plans for this year's documenting? October Daily? A running October journal you add to yearly perhaps? Did you purchase any Halloween or autumn goodies for your scrapbooking this year? Or are you using your *healthy* stash? Are you doing any other crafts this autumn? Cards or gift tags for treats? Do you have special events and traditions you wish to document this year?

dawnnikol I dig it! *looks for emergency exit* Alright, I think I'm going to attempt a Journal Your October type of project where I add to each year. I'm loving all things disc planner right now (I blame buying the WMRK disc punch for this) so I'll be working in a disc-bound 6x8 album. I bought all 8 sheets of Thirty-One by Prima, no ephemera packs because they were all out, le sob. My must-haves to document this year: - mother + daughter outing with my maman and her first ever Starbucks to inaugurate PSL season - Hallmark Fall Harvest movies because I can rom-com my way through more than just the Christmas season #savage - birthday parcel for my aunt - Muppets Haunted Mansion (EEEEP!) - changing landscape outside - whichever autumn dessert recipe I dare to try this year (not the best baker, alas) - some details of home life during the cooler season - whatever we'll do for the European Heritage Days (probably a museum because we missed out on making the list for a few visits due to smaller number of visitors allowed #thanksCovid) - HALLOWEEEEEN NIGHT

Alright, Miss Booty, now I need to figure out my album situation... I might try my hand at a TN because I have yet to do one. /gasp Perhaps I should dip in my DD budget savings or just DIY it up. DIY probably since my girls will possibly join.
We'll have:
-apple orchard shenanigans. The place we visit annually has introduced "apple pie nachos". I mean. We have to try them. -the many days the kids are off due to conferences or "teacher work day" or whatever -flu shots + my oldest DD's COVID vaxx -wedding anniversary -purchasing all the DD stuff because I can fit Christmas into anything, damn it. -birthday/Halloween party - both Halloween birthday kiddos agreed to celebrate TOGETHER and have it be a Halloween party! Just us, their 2 grandparents, and Great Grandma... but a party is a freaking party. And now costumes are involved? YES -book releases!!! -Seasonal movies: new Hotel Transylvania 4 and animated Addams Family 2 -my oven is firmly OFF until it cools off, so baking will start again after the orchard

Oh yay! I'm all in for an October Daily-ish project this year! I started one last year in a traveler's notebook, and it was a complete fail. I began by adhering pattern paper to every page, and the book got so fat that the staples fell out. I bought a long-arm stapler and long staples, and even that didn't help. I ended up using 1-inch black electrical tape down the middle of every two pages. Ugh! I only completed 14 pages. Part of the problem was, of course, the pandemic. I love Halloween and normally overdo all the decorations. I decorate my living room and both my husband and I completely decorate the front yard with blow-ups, animated characters, giant spiders and posters. We love to sit outside giving out candy. But, for the first time, our house was dark on Halloween 2020. It was so depressing. I don't want to do that this year. Even if we have to set up a pully-system to hand out bags of candy, we're going to sit out in the front yard enjoying our Halloween! Last year I watched a number of YouTube videos for inspiration: Krystal IdunateSerena Bee CreativeSabrina Ann CreatesMy Little JournalPretty Little Pocket
This year, I think I will do a 4x4 album as well as start on a "Halloween Through the Years" full-size album.

It’s unlikely because… ugh, life… but I might try to figure out how to finish off last year’s album to my satisfaction. I think it just needs a better cover. But I’m going to hang out here anyway, k? I told my husband that the Addams Family 2 was coming out and then we had fun groaning over how many Addams Family movies there are and how somehow this is the first one called The Addams Family 2 even though it’s actually more like The Addams Family 9 (?) I had a bag full of pears that were overripening and stressing me out (I’m a hunter gatherer at heart, not a farm wife) but I turned the gift from my FIL into a delicious spiced pear crisp. Fall actually seems to have started here now. Not the colored leaf part, but the unpredictable damp weather people associate with Seattle. I don’t think summer weather is coming back. The mountains were going to get snow up high and the tree shade in the back yard is telling me the season is turning. I also have to adjust all the lamp timers because it’s dark much earlier now. I will be making lots of autumnal cards and lots of spooky ones too, I hope 👻

Nelly + Clem along with the new PP and whatever else I dig up... get it? Dig? I slay myself. I'm leaving now. OMG, how did I *not* know about Nelly + Clem??? I think I will need to re-direct some of my scrappy budget to her shop, especially loving the Halloween and tv show/movie collections. I have two October projects in mind, a 6x8 gift album for a dear family friend who loves Halloween, and a larger Halloween Through the Years (HTTY) album for me because my kids are grown now and I want to remember all of the Halloween cuteness . I planned to do the gift album last year, but didn’t move beyond the planning stage, so it takes precedence this year. I already bought the Graphic 45 Black Rectangular Tag Album to use for the gift album. I think my HTTY album will be 9x12 (but that can be started this year and worked on as the mood strikes). I may also do some work in my Harry Potter Opus Album if the mood strikes, that is one of my Never Ending Projects

The place we visit annually has introduced "apple pie nachos". I mean. We have to try them. Yes please! That sounds amazing! I love the idea of an October through the years album. I have a TN cover from Color Cast Designs I've never used. It could be perfect for this type of project. I just need to find where I stashed it. We are heading to Austin for a weekend in October so that will be a fun thing to document, even if we don't do much except hang with our friends since numbers are terrible and Texas is a hot mess. Sigh. I scooped up some of the Fancy Pants, A Little Scary Story collection and it's even cuter in person.

My kids are doing October “daily”. We are doing a page each weekend day and I put some supplies in little baggies for them to open. Last year for their December daily I stuck in activities or prompts each day. I will have to decide if we are doing that.
They are using the nelly and Clem kit. We are making 4x5 disc bound albums.
I’m not doing a personal October daily but I do a lot of pages. I’m also going to use nelly and Clem and the feed your craft October release.
My favorite activity is we take ghost photos in my backyard. I usually do long exposures or multiple exposures. This year I’m going to try to find a new sheet that has tiny flowers on it. Something like my grandmother would have. I think it will add to the ridiculousness of this entire photo project.

I started a Halloween album last year, and I will keep adding to it. It will be a comprehensive Halloween Through Our Years thing (anything related to Halloween), not chronological. I printed a lot of photos from yesteryears and scrapped whatever grabbed my attention that day. I need to adjust the actual album through. I started it an old Snap album and I can’t stand how it won’t lay flat. I feel like I’m wrestling with it constantly. ecvnj58 The tradition of ghost photos is the COOLEST Halloween activity I have ever heard!! That is awesome!

Oh (or should that be whoooooooooooo), I've been looking forward to this thread! Thanks for setting it up, 'Booty.
I'm doing a October Daily-ish album with some September and probably November in there too. If it's autumnal, it's going in. I've got an old 6x8 album kicking about and some of Prima's 31 papers and DCWV's Luna pad which is massive and will probably end up being part of my DD too.
Things planned/what we'll be doing (it's a lot! But then I have a couple of weeks booked off so that helps): Woodland walks (there's a gorgeous beech wood a bus ride from us) A meetup with some friends on the equinox Gigs! (Three of them! All rescheduled from a billion years ago. I am looking forward to seeing the bands, not so keen about being in crowds again, will be watching from afar, me thinks) A local food market A hotel stay in Brighton
My daughter's birthday A few days in Dorset with my parents A swim in Hampstead Ladies pond (never done this before, can't wait to try) Paula Rego at Tate Britain A Samhain celebration at an open air museum
There'll be cake somewhere Halloween! Obvs. Would be nice to do some trick and treating again after last year when there streets were empty and silent

So love all things October and Halloween. No album for me, here for the gifs, as usual. My big task is making new halloween banners for my mantle decor. Yes, I am already all decorated for Halloween, but with all my recent Halloween scrappy purchases I vowed to make some banners. I have some things stamped and cut and inked, just need to put it all together and finishing touches. I think I also have some layouts for last year to catch up on. Altho, after a couple seasonable days, we are back to 90 degree weather this week, so not feeling so fall-y right now. Look forward to seeing your projects....

I'm so happy to see this! I impulsively bought the hey pumpkin stuff from peachy cheap last week and have been watching a bunch of halloween/october daily videos on youtube using it. That + autumn stash should be enough for me... should. We don't do a whole heck of a lot for Halloween but I wanted to make some sort of mini -- first I thought of either a flippy tag album or turning the papers into 4x4 with rings. But then I remembered I had a holographic personal sized planner and with all the holo papers and ephemera in the kit I'll probably go that route. I'm excited! Stuff I know I'll document-- - trip to Apple Hill. pies.. cider.. donuts - zoo time - old spooky movies at the drive-in. - our favorite pumpkin patch since we didn't go last year - someone in the house has become obsessed with the apple crisp macchiatos from starbucks and we get them every Tuesday morning (me.. it's totally me) - new crafts and decorations - mooooooooovies! I wanted to have more for Fall feels since we don't really 'get' Fall here, and I've somehow become a jack-o-lantern candy jar person in the process.. so that definitely has to be commemorated

I have never actually scrapped DD's Halloween's yet. I scrapped a lot of my Halloweens pre kid, but nothing about her. Time to start!
Do you have any plans for this year's documenting? October Daily? A running October journal you add to yearly perhaps? I will not be doing a daily thing, but I do want to capture some October things since I LOVE Halloween and we are going to Universal Studios for her fall break! We have been to Disney twice in October in the past, so lots of Halloween scrapping to do. I have a few albums in mind in addition to my regular pages which are more heavily story focused.
I want to do a mini album of all of her costumes from birth and just keep adding to it.
We have done a pumpkin patch every year, so I want to do a mini album of that too.
So lots of mini albums I can just keep adding to every year.
Did you purchase any Halloween or autumn goodies for your scrapbooking this year? Or are you using your *healthy* stash? My stash is beyond healthy. OA was my favorite manufacturer and I hoarded it. It all fits in one of those 12x12 paper cases, embellishments included. I am hoping to pick up KP's halloween kit and the GS stamp from FYC.
Are you doing any other crafts this autumn? Cards or gift tags for treats?
Nope
Do you have special events and traditions you wish to document this year?
Yup, pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving and Halloween Day!

Booty, I forgot to ask which fall/harvest Hallmark movies are your favs and which ones you're excited about this year. Hallmark always gets me dreaming about wearing cute sweaters and boots and pretty leaves in quaint small towns, thinking maybe I need to drive off to Vermont or Maine... Our autumn weather is mild, grey and damp, very changeable, and the light is very tricky for photos. Sometimes we get some lovely fall color but most of the trees here are evergreen and the ones that aren't tend to be planted in parking lots. There is a gigantic ginkgo tree further down our street that I document every year as it turns bright yellow in November. http://instagram.com/p/CH129NnALGZ http://instagram.com/p/CH3FkeHALKT Here's a huge dose of fall leaves in my neighborhood from 2018 or 19 - stories highlight, hopefully the link works, although it was slow to load for me. www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17990469823010318/

I told my husband that the Addams Family 2 was coming out and then we had fun groaning over how many Addams Family movies there are and how somehow this is the first one called The Addams Family 2 even though it’s actually more like The Addams Family 9 (?) There can never be enough Addams Family. Ever! I'm so excited about the Tim Burton x Netflix project too. We just started rewatching season 2 of the old TV series (did a rewatch of season 1 last year) and that little doo-bee-doo-bee-doooo music is such an earworm. I was taking tiny careful steps, Carolyn Jones's Morticia style, with a cup of tea I had overfilled yesterday and I just started hearing it playing in my head. 😂 For anyone interested, MGM has a few full episodes up on their YouTube channel. I will be making lots of autumnal cards and lots of spooky ones too, I hope 👻 SKELETON BUNNY, THE RETURN! (maybe?) Does your Etsy shop ship to Europe, joblackford ? I have two October projects in mind, a 6x8 gift album for a dear family friend who loves Halloween, and a larger Halloween Through the Years (HTTY) album for me because my kids are grown now and I want to remember all of the Halloween cuteness . Wooohoo, that sounds like two very fun projects to keep busy with this season! The Halloween cuteness (and spookiness) MUST be recorded and kept safe in one place, I agree! 🎃 We are heading to Austin for a weekend in October so that will be a fun thing to document, even if we don't do much except hang with our friends since numbers are terrible and Texas is a hot mess. Sigh. Ugh, another genuinely scary Halloween season. Hopefully, this is the last(ish)! Safe travels. (Headed to COTA for a Grand Prix 🏆 by chance?) We are making 4x5 disc bound albums. Disc-bound lovers, unite! 👍 My favorite activity is we take ghost photos in my backyard. I usually do long exposures or multiple exposures. This year I’m going to try to find a new sheet that has tiny flowers on it. Something like my grandmother would have. I think it will add to the ridiculousness of this entire photo project. This sounds UH-MAZING, ecvnj58 ! Seriously cool. Can I come over to get my ghostly portrait taken? 👻 I started it an old Snap album and I can’t stand how it won’t lay flat. I feel like I’m wrestling with it constantly. 'Tis your Halloween demon! 👹 I've got an old 6x8 album kicking about and some of Prima's 31 papers and DCWV's Luna pad Nice aesthetic, Charwee . I approve. And I totally want to get my hands on the Luna pad too... there's a gorgeous beech wood a bus ride from us Oooh, sounds magical! 🌳🍃🍂 My big task is making new halloween banners for my mantle decor. Yes, I am already all decorated for Halloween, but with all my recent Halloween scrappy purchases I vowed to make some banners. I have some things stamped and cut and inked, just need to put it all together and finishing touches. I bet your mantle will look incredible! I love a good Halloween décor in the home to set the mood. Heck, I might like it more than Christmas decorations... 🖤 But then I remembered I had a holographic personal sized planner and with all the holo papers and ephemera in the kit I'll probably go that route. I'm excited! Holographic sounds perfect for Halloween! Ghost reflections, amirite? ✨ someone in the house has become obsessed with the apple crisp macchiatos from starbucks and we get them every Tuesday morning (me.. it's totally me) You guys have all the fun Starbucks stuff! No apple crisp macchiato in sight over here. Enjoy one for me, will you? 😉 I do want to capture some October things since I LOVE Halloween and we are going to Universal Studios for her fall break! Oooh, have so much fun (and stay safe)! I hope you'll share some photos with us. 😊 I want to do a mini album of all of her costumes from birth and just keep adding to it.
We have done a pumpkin patch every year, so I want to do a mini album of that too. Booty, I forgot to ask which fall/harvest Hallmark movies are your favs and which ones you're excited about this year. Hallmark Fall Harvest! Hallmark Fall Harvest! Hallmark Fall Harvest! Ok, let's see. Favourite ever has got to be last year's Sweet Autumn. Perfect chemistry (ugh, Nikki + Andrew = dream team), beautiful sceneries (so many red and orange leaves!), an early first kiss, vintage motorcycles and a reference and nod to the Native history. I'm totally rewatching this one this October. Looking forward to... Erm, a little difficult since Hallmark have barely any previews up so far but I've got my eye on Raise a Glass to Love coming this weekend because vineyards, Juan Pablo di Pace (YEEES!), Argentinian culture woven into the movie, friendship before love trope. In terms of visiting other cultures, I'm also very intrigued by South Beach Love because rival quinceañeras drama and Cuban heritage! Gotta see Taking the Reins although I'm not a horse girl because Nikki *always* kills it and I appreciate a good second-chance-at-former-love story. In terms of having another go at a love you already know, I'm also adding Love Strikes Twice to my 2021 must-see list. It looks like a good Fall Harvest season overall to me. What's your list like, joblackford ? Hallmark always gets me dreaming about wearing cute sweaters and boots and pretty leaves in quaint small towns, thinking maybe I need to drive off to Vermont or Maine... Imagine it: a Pea retreat in autumny Vermont! 💯 There is a gigantic ginkgo tree further down our street that I document every year as it turns bright yellow in November. It's a glorious ginkgo tree! We have a lot of evergreens and olive trees here so not a lot of foliage change but also many plane trees and they do go through the full seasonal transformation. Still very green for now though. I wonder when they'll turn yellow this year...

Halloween 2021 releases: A TALE DARK & GRIMM (Netflix)
Netflix brings to (animated) life a different story of Hansel & Gretel, based on the novel by Adam Gidwitz. In this retelling of the Grimm stories, the siblings take on the forest and its many menaces, walking straight out of their own fairy tale to find out the truth behind and beyond the bread crumbs, the edible house and more magic elements as they try to find their way to a happily ever after... Coming to Netflix on October 8.

I am knowledgeable about racing as I used to volunteer at a track and once lived near the 24 Heures du Mans but I'm not sure I am enthusiastic enough to be called a fan. 😄

Here's a huge dose of fall leaves in my neighborhood from 2018 or 19 - stories highlight, hopefully the link works, although it was slow to load for me. I love all those trees! I dream of living somewhere like Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls where they see different seasons each year instead of everything going from green to DEAD overnight lol You guys have all the fun Starbucks stuff! No apple crisp macchiato in sight over here. Enjoy one for me, will you? 😉 Just for you I did Also with extra apple drizzle because it tastes like the caramel apple suckers that come out around this time. Do you guys get those? They screaaaam Halloween time to me. ~~~ I tried wearing an oversized sweater and leggings today for my Costco run.. the news told me it was in the mid 60's (~16 C) so I was excited! But sheeeeesh when I stepped outside I was instantly dying. Back to the life of sundresses for a few more months

I buy my decorations from Dollar Tree so I don't get sad if there's destruction! I'll try to remember to post a photo tomorrow.

Do you have special events and traditions you wish to document this year? I have an ongoing Halloween album of my kids in their costumes. This may be the last year for my youngest child. He's going to be Eleven from Stranger Things! Anyway, I like the idea of adding favorite movies, treats, activities to mix it up. So, I'll throw some pages in the current 8.5x11 album.
I said NOOOO to more Halloween products, but only one package of witch felt stickers have been purchased. Then I go on Instagram and OMG!!! Joann has DCWV sticker packs.
I purchased a few decorations for my white trees. Per previous post, my son is not leaving them alone. I even bought him plastic eyeballs and textured balls in Halloween colors as a peace offering. The only crafty thing I'll do is decorating pumpkins to put on the front porch. No carving! Pumpkin guts are gross.
We have gone to a Pumpkin Walk in the past. They decorate gourds of all kinds and there's a theme each year. Not going to lie, I enjoy it more than my kids and I think I may just go alone this year! Speaking of!!!! I did some separate mini albums about the event, but I think I may just throw them into the ongoing Halloween album.
