Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas wasn't bad. I mean, I'm measuring it against the other movies in this series (yes, it's a freakin' series) so in comparison to last year's which I really disliked and found creepy, this one was definitely ok. I do like an amnesiac Hallmark rom-com so that helped. Not sure why Hallmark keeps putting Brendan Penny in nurse roles for Christmas (Magical Christmas Ornaments in 2017) but hey, he's one of those men who feels non-threatening (which I mean as a compliment) so it works. This isn't fluffy and light, however. If you want happy, happy, joy, joy, skip. Otherwise, totally great to keep you entertained as you scrap/meal prep/iron.

I think it should have "Every Time a Bell Rings" with Erin Cahill and Wes Brown. It was billed as a Hallmark Movies Now exclusive last month, but it was on HM&M Sunday night. It features three estranged adopted sisters coming together for Christmas a couple years after their dad passed away, doing a scavenger hunt he set up for a Christmas wishing bell one last time. This was fantastic. Thank you. I really enjoyed it and would love a sequel.

We watched "Father Christmas is Back" the other night and last night was "A Kiss Before Christmas". They both helped me recover from the Lifetime crap movie. ^.^

I think the HMM movies have been better than the regular movies this year.

Watching A Dickens of a Christmas. Male lead reminds me of Will Arnett.

I know, right? Once my dad bought my step mother a new car without consulting her and she was furious. Same for a work colleague. Where do they get off thinking they know what's best for their partners? Not to mention if you're married/defacto you are spending joint funds without discussing it!!! I would flip-out if my husband bought property without my full knowledge and support.

Finally watched Single All the Way last night. Five star movie; easily my favorite of the 2021 releases thus far.
Also watched A Castle for Christmas. I ejected 15 minutes into the movie, a 1 star movie for me! DW continued watching while I did other things on my phone.
I see more Christmas movies in my future for this weekend. Need to figure out how to watch Silent Night, as that’s a must see movie this year!

Would love to have more recommendations for movies I can watch on Hallmark NOW or Frndly.
Many on the list are not available.
Have watched few before so previous years are ok.

blemonuse the website (its easier imo) and the search function on frndly to see when things are gonna be on and hit record if you're doing the 7.99 offer with recordability. I think it goes out a week or two? So check back every few days to search for specific ones.

I thought I would need a DVR to watch them.

Thanks. I will have to upgrade. I didn't understand the DVR function when I signed up. I thought I would need a DVR to watch them. Ah, noooo everything's in the cloud! I think the extra $3 is worth it for that alone, I don't even care about HD or 2 screens. You can look at the guide and go back to record things that have since passed, too. That way you can watch them anytime you want and not only within the 3 day limit they're still "available". The only limitation it really has is not being able to watch something currently live if it surpasses an hour behind, and having to wait 30 minutes to watch something that just finished even if you recorded it. Otherwise for these dumb movies I think it's 1000% worth it.

Silent Night! Watched last night and really enjoyed it. It has a couple of tense scenes, but definitely a black comedy. I want to watch it again with subtitles (it’s UK English) as Matthew Goode is a bit mumbly and hard to understand in a couple scenes.

Shop Around the Corner is one of the greatest movies ever made, and my second favorite Christmas movie. We watch it several times during December and I am constantly threatening to change my name to Mathias Popkin after watching. I love this movie so much! Glad to see the included Thin Man, Christmas in Connecticut, and Holiday Affair. Those are some other staples in our house. In fact we keep them on the DVR just in case TCM doesn’t show them one year,

Father Christmas is Back is getting a big fat no from me. Sorry, I know others in this thread liked it but it's a an all-around miss as far as I'm concerned. I refuse to believe a father popping back up all of a sudden 27 years after abandoning his daugthers would be welcomed back into the fold like that. It doesn't make any sense as a child whose father left. And spoiler alert, sending money to the mother to pay for tuition or weddings doesn't make up for the physical and emotional absence. The caricatural portrayal of the characters and their relationships wore me out very quickly. They even play the slapsticky music and sound effects. It's extremely over the top. Nobody is likable or particularly relatable. Any attempt at realism is out the window and then some. *cough Felix trying to win back his own car cough* *cough James's 100% American accent cough* AND SO MUCH MORE! I'm outta coughs to list them all. And then the father proposes to his younger-than-his-own-daughters girlfriend in front of everyone. What a prick. I see his priorities are sorted and he's not at all using the family he left behind to make himself look better. /s Anyway, not sure what went through Netflix's head financing this. Or making this. You can even see a masked person at 01:05:56 which I assume is a crew person who somehow made it accidentally on screen. Hawt mess.

Whoever recommended Hitched for the Holidays, you are my hero. I think that was one of the best xmas movies I have ever seen. It's got the woman who plays Stevie in Schitt's Creek with Joey Lawrence and they are both phenomenal. As a person who now has a Jewish daughter (hecka long story as she's 13) this was really fun to see for some mixed holidays. I got it on Hallmark Movies Now. Shop Around the Corner is one of the greatest movies ever made, and my second favorite Christmas movie. Cool. I went through this whole list and copied and pasted them into a note in my computer. I hope to be able to find many of these. I'm going to start with this one.

TCM shows most of them, I know Christmas in Connecticut was on today, I know they showed Shop Around the Corner already, but pretty sure they show it more then once. They have not shown Holiday Affair yet that I have seen. Those are my 3 favs from that list. I am going to see Thin Man on Thursday at my local theater.

sleepingbooty I completely understand. Your Spoiler was a super hard cringe for me. I still would watch it 10 times over Crafty Christmas or whatever crap I suffered through. The worst is still "Holiday in the Wild" though. THE ABSOLUTE WORST! Whoever recommended Hitched for the Holidays, you are my hero. I think that was one of the best xmas movies I have ever seen. It's got the woman who plays Stevie in Schitt's Creek with Joey Lawrence and they are both phenomenal. That's why we own it on dvd. ^.^ We actually watched it prior to seeing "Schitt's Creek", so it was a "Hey, that's our Hallmark movie girl" moment for us. Speaking of movies, but not Hallmark holiday type, anybody else excited "The Witcher" is back on Friday? That's gonna cut into our Hallmark time and I'm completely okay with that, we've been waiting for the new season forever.

We've fired The Witcher 3 (with Hearts of Stone + Blood and Wine, of course) back up a couple of weeks ago to get in the mood; Friday can't come soon enough!

Funny you should post that, I was coming here to say that DH and I caught an old 1940's movie on Prime - Love Affair - with Janet Leigh and Gregory Peck yesterday and we really enjoyed it! Prime has a bunch of these oldies, we'll likely watch more.

I rented this on Amazon and we loved it. I didn't think my 13-year-old would like it but she was laughing and really enjoying it the whole time. The worst is still "Holiday in the Wild" though. THE ABSOLUTE WORST! Because of this group, I have never watched this and never will. Netflix keeps suggesting it. I will go give it a thumbs down so it will stop. Prime has a bunch of these oldies, we'll likely watch more. Our TV isn't big so I like that you can rent almost anything SD (instead of HD) for much less. With some credits I think I paid $1.50. Speaking of movies, but not Hallmark holiday type, anybody else excited "The Witcher" is back on Friday? That's gonna cut into our Hallmark time and I'm completely okay with that, we've been waiting for the new season forever. I think I will start this after the holidays. It looks good but for some reason the description of it makes me not 100% ready. I think I have seen enough posts of people who like the same stuff as me love this that it's time to binge! I have my DVR in Frndly full so I'm ready to go. I was able to add almost everything from the list. I'm most excited about the Peter Gallagher one and the one at Pemberley. I would like to watch a Christmas movie set in the Georgian Era.

You definitely don't have to be acquainted with the video game series to get into the Netflix show, fear not. It's obviously fantasy and has some incredible fight scenes. A very thrilling and captivating world of magic, power, politics and castes. Henry Cavill is a bit of a geek himself and a big fan of the Witcher games so he captures Geralt perfectly. I can only recommend.

Now that I got Frndly figured out I have a bunch of shows waiting to be recorded and a few sitting there waiting to be watched.
5 Star Xmas was pretty good. Cute and not annoying.
Last night I watched Santa Stakeout. Also super cute. Loved the leads. I don't think I had seen the male lead in anything and I'm impressed. He's super handsome but endearing.
I would definitely recommend both. I think we're going to watch the original Grinch tonight because it's short. Those Hallmark movies take 2 hours to watch with all of the commercials. I should actually try to fast forward since they're recorded. So used to not being able to I didn't even try.

I liked The Eight Gifts of Hanukkah. It was nice to have a Hanukkah themed movie that wasn't all explain-y. They just did their thing. In a Christmas themed movie, you don't see characters explaining the symbolism of a carol, they just sing it. So I liked that this movie treated the Hanukkah traditions the same way, for the most part. I also enjoyed all the characters, which is rare for me. Usually there is some annoying supporting character that sticks out like a sore thumb. And the houses were so pretty! We figured out the "mystery" pretty quick, and the ending was super abrupt, but I think those are my only complaints.

Last night I watched Santa Stakeout. Also super cute. Loved the leads. I don't think I had seen the male lead in anything and I'm impressed. He's super handsome but endearing. That's Paul Campbell! A few pages back, I was all giddy when I found out he was one of the two writers for An Unexpected Christmas (2021) with Bethany Joy Lenz and Tyler Hynes that several of us have fawned over in this thread. He injected a lot of his fun personality in the script. Definitely recommended if you like Paul Campbell's vibe and impeccable comedic timing. I also love Paul Campbell in Hallmark's Christmas by Starlight (2020) with Kimberly Sustad (from the Nine Kittens/Nine Lives movies). Definitely recommended, too!
