Nope, I think he is not even really acting. I just think he's gross. If he ran off and took CCB with him, that would make a great holiday gift for me. LOL
I'm over Danica too.

Chad Michael Murray does not have a good reputation. He acts on screen like he has been known to be IRL. I know he claims having kids changed him but eh, his attitude still shines through in these movies. He peaked in high school and never got the memo that was over 20 years ago. If anyone comes across an old DVD of A Cinderella Story that has the cast commentary, give it a go. Hilary Duff seems pretty uncomfortable with his remarks and flirtatious comments. I remember cringing listening to it. She was 16 when they filmed this (and he was 22). Like, dude, no.

Ok, I'm halfway caught up and I just have to ask. Do y'all like Chad Michael Murray? I find him smarmy and not as cute as he thinks he is. I'm all fake-it-til-you-make-it but he just never makes it for me. I think this dates back to what a total ass he was on Dawson's Creek as Charlie (I think). I also wanted to add, what was up with Cary Elwes makeup in A Castle for Christmas? I could not get over it. Dab that on with a spatula, makeup artist person. Geesh. CMM's whisper voice is the WORST. I'm rewatching One Tree Hill and obviously he was a dreamboat to my 13 year old self but now I'm audibly talking to the television, "speak louder!!" I dealt with him in Write Before Christmas (last year? the year before? idk lol) because I love Torrey DeVitto.. but LOOK AT THIS FACE -- Doesn't even look likeable in a photoshopped movie cover.

Holy hells bells, that looks amazing! I have never watched a Hallmark Christmas Movie, nor a Lifetime movie and stumbled in here on accident, but now I see it was fate and I am going to have to read the rest of this thread to see what I missed!

So, I had the day mostly off and I was going to keep catching up on Hallmark this afternoon until I remembered it was premiere day for Netflix's first Christmas movie of the year. I am trying hard to keep quiet about what happens in Love Hard but oh em gee, this one was the diggity bomb. Just finished it and I'm still smiling. It was exactly my jam. I do love the fake romance trope but Netflix nailed it with this one. Everything was well executed: the writing, the character development, the cultural references, the colour scheme, the song covers. It was chef's kiss. There's a scene that had me going from laughing out loud to aww-ing out loud. You'll know it when you see it. If you ever hang out in the Becky Higgins thread, you'll immediately recognise the moment I burst out laughing. Booty's rating: love-love-LOVED it, going on the rewatch list, will definitely be played again later this month. I think I heard about this one, is that the one with a catfish situation? If you liked it, I think I will give it a shot.

We don't approve of catfishing but we do approve of this movie. Also, welcome to the merry madness of this thread where there is no such thing as too much screentime! I'm going to dive into Single All the Way tonight. I've bought peanut M&M's and red wine. I am set to make my yuletide extra gay.

I got caught up in two days, only because I had to take the time to write down every single movie people watched and cross out the bad ones. Ha! And yeah, it looks like they will start live streaming the Jug Band Dec. 17 so I'm going to check back on that Friday to see if I can order it or watch or whatever I have to do. Have you seen this: www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/18965490-jug-bandIt might be the only holiday shirt I order this year. I think I heard about this one, is that the one with a catfish situation? If you liked it, I think I will give it a shot. Yes! I watched Love Hard last night and it was really good. And I'm going to watch Single all the way tonight as well.

Elves came out today and I watched 2 episodes this morning. Y'all I love this slightly creepy/cute elf thing going on. There's a baby elf that just looks like a furry coconut... with teeth. Edit on ep 4 now and I take back the cute bit about Elves to crank the heebies jeebies factor to 11. This is pure nightmare fuel. Can confirm: the Netflix Elves series is definitely a missed Halloween month release. Holy shirtballs, it's giving me all the wrong vibes for the Christmas season. And I like scary Christmas tales à la Krampus myth. I quit to go watch the newest Dexter episode. I mean, yeah, that says a lot. Lol, I actually binged this Sunday night bcz episodes were only like 25 minutes or so. The Christmas theme disappears by about the 3rd episode I think. I think my SO thinks I've lost my mind with these recs...I believe he alluded to 2 hours of his life he won't get back! There was a lot that did not make sense, but I too found the baby elf kinda cute! I think there were some missed opportunities to have more xmas related content... I finally watched Holidate, holy heck that was funny (Kristin Chenoweth!) and charming and hello Luke Bracey! Like where have I been?! I am behind on Hallmarks, still have yet to watch the Nine Kittens! I am adding the HBO max 8-bit one to the list, sounds like something we would like.

spoilers about that elves show -- I'm guessing there will be a s2 with how the lil coconut caught a ride to the mainland? I wonder if they'll keep it christmas-themed or just continue right after the creepy woodland elves figure out he's missing I watched Over Christmas on Netflix the other night and really liked it, I completely missed that last year! So so so incredibly behind on movies it's not even funny. I went over the list last night and was like "missed that, missed that.. and that.. that too... saw that one... missed a few more". I've been rewatching The Great and my boyfriend still hasn't seen The Witcher in prep for s2 so I've gotta rewatch that with him.. then I wanna rewatch The Mandolorian so really all my time has gone to rewatching stuff and simply throwing on Hallmark favs as background noise lol 🙃 Watched bits of that Lacey movie while working the other day.. couldn't really tell you what it was about but I remember her sister being funny.

Netflix is killing the Christmas movie game. Single All the Way was absolutely wonderful. I need a sequel, period. And clearly, they've designed the movie to leave that door open. Just give it to us, Netflix. Book the cast for 2022, take our monthly sub money and get working on it. Ugh. So many quotables, too.

I especially loved the nods (and occasional burns) to the cheesy christmas movie genre. This was spot on.

Cracking up at the CMM hate. I never really thought about it. I feel like when I think of him, I only think of One Tree Hill (I was never a Dawsons fan in HS!) I am not sure I have ever seen him in a Hallmark that I can think of. Am I still allowed to participate in this thread? Not sure I checked in after watching 8-Bit Christmas but I watched, and I really loved it! Neil Patrick Harris is one of my absolute faves. I loved the little boy (his character from the 80s). What a cutie. I know I commented that I loved Holidate. Well, I told my husband we could watch this "cute movie" and invited my 13 year old. I watch all sorts of stuff with her but my husband is way more prude-ish than I am and this was just totally not appropriate. lol He was getting kinda annoyed with me and I was thinking "Funny I don't remember all of these raunchy jokes when I watched it 2 nights ago?" lol Like I said, it just doesn't matter to me and it does to him and yeah, it wasn't a great family movie experience. I am going to watch Single All The Way soon! Back to Hallmark~ I have re-watched Lacey Chabert's A Christmas Waltz like 3 times this week. lol I don't even know why, it's not like the best Hallmark movie... but there's something about it that I love. Maybe Will Kemp's accent. The same reason I wanted to watch Holidate again. Accent. Did not care for Candace's latest this year. I usually like her but eh, they're all the same now. What a one-note actress. Kinda over her Christmas movie hype. Ok, wondering what Hallmarks are premiering tonight I must watch. Off to check my Frndly guide...

Damn Cary Elwes was busy in Christmas-land this year. The age gap is... ugh. But train time travel? Why not throw that into the bunch of other time travel ones we've got this year. It's on Sky but there are... many...🏴☠️ other.. 🏴☠️ ways... 🏴☠️ to find it come December 18th. obligatory yikes @ that wig --

A Castle For Christmas was awful. Fake Scottish accents from non-Scottish actors, and terrible acting.

My SIL had already watched Love Hard before we got together for Thanksgiving so we watched Pacific Rim and Isle of Dogs instead - probably much more interesting for her 12yo movie geek kiddo anyway. But that means I'm a bit behind... I have no trouble "watching" Hallmark junk, minimal attention necessary, but I've been too busy to sit down with any good movies I actually want to watch. I have caught half of several new Hallmark movies but I don't know what they were called - the kitten one, the Bethany Joy Lenz one where her hair looked quite nice, and Tyler Hynes without a beard. I guess they might've been in the movie together? Shows how much I'm paying attention

A Castle For Christmas was awful. Fake Scottish accents from non-Scottish actors, and terrible acting. Isn't that the point? For me that's the joy I get out of watching these movies. I think they're terrible but I love them so. I group them in with cheesy romance novels. The junk food of the holidays. quite frankly I couldn't work out what was going on in the trailer because I was so focused on all the wigs. I'm not sure I'd be able to watch this one. I'm not going to be able to watch this until I get some reviews from the Peas. It looks just odd. Ok, thanks to this group I watched Much Ado About Nothing and it was great. I was able to watch it on Peacock which is free (at least in the US). I was holding off on one more streaming service but since it's free I'm good. Here's what I need help with: I am going to get the Hallmark trial free for 7 days. So I need your top 7-10 movies that I will be able to watch in that time. They can be from this year or previous years. I will start with 1 and 2. Nine lives of Christmas then Nine Kittens of Christmas because we are cat people and my daughter will watch these with me. Please help!

This year: An Unexpected Christmas for sure (although joblackford barely remembers it besides BJL's lovely messy curls and TH's missing facial hair ) Previous years: Snow Bride (a classic), The Mistletoe Promise, Christmas on My Mind (not necessarily great but gosh, it's a bonkers premise), Five Star Christmas and Christmas at Pemberly Manor in the in-this-movie-the-number-one-concern-is-decorating-for-Christmas category (it's one of Hallmark's favourite movie themes). I'm most definitely forgetting quite a few...

I agree with most of this list I should add that I got interrupted many times and probably only saw 20 mins of An Unexpected Christmas, just enough to see that the premise was good, will revisit when I get a chance. I will add www.hallmarkchannel.com/christmas-getaway because I like accidental cabin mixup meet-cutes and beards and Bridget Regan. Also a lot of photography/memory keeping. For consideration: www.hallmarkchannel.com/a-bride-for-christmas/about - it's older, I like these actors, they've done a couple of movies together. I think this one has dogs (?) but mostly runaway bride and a bet that means they kiss 20-30 mins before the end, before she discovers the terrible thing he's done.

The Teri Hatcher x James Denton was already done by Hallmark several years ago (minus the kids) and I've been thinking about that one since I saw A Kiss Before Christmas. Off to the deep sea I go to find it again...
If anyone's interested, it stars Nikki DeLoach and Andrew Walker and is called A Dream of Christmas:
