Your daily reminder that law and justice are not the same thing in America. Laws are only as good as the people who write them. And are profoundly biased in the favor of white Americans, particularly straight white men.

Did you watch the three star witnesses for the prosecution? That Rittenhouse was being chased, shouted at, kicked, hit with a skateboard, and had a firearm pointed at him?

Lets hope he takes the second chance he has been handed, and becomes a productive member of society. If he goes back to school, he could graduate, and go onto further schooling, or the military. He could also get a drivers license and drive legally. So many possibilities, please, Kyle, step up to your honorable potential. Yes Kyle please make honorable decisions. This trial was not about "why" he was there, but whether he did what he did in self-defense.

Maybe I missed this...but are his parents being charged for allowing a minor access to a lethal weapon like this?? We actually had this exact weapon at the a few years ago (no longer have it)...but you can bet it was under lock and key away from our son. I don't think he would ever take it and shoot it...but still...responsible gun owners keep their weapons locked up away from kids.

Makes me feel like I want to move away. (state and county) But unless I leave the country, what's the point. 'Merica

I expected no less, so I’m not particularly shocked.
With the amount of people convinced he’s a admirable patriot, I was afraid for what might happen today if he was found guilty.
Now I’m just concerned that wholesale vigilantism in the name of white grievance has been enabled and rewarded.

There's enough power hungry, racist white kids from around here head straight there, with their delusions of grandeur. honorable potential? although most wasn't admissible in court, that kid has done little honorable in his past. A lot of Dishonorable, yes. Much of it (surprisingly/not surprisingly in this day and age) is recorded. A lot more local talk I would agree with your first two words "lets hope" followed by "for the best".

But… she doesn’t really convey the impression of a responsible mother either, so that’s hard to know. I believe the friend that bought for him is facing charges?

And what did he do to provoke all that? Nothing happens in a vacuum. Two of the people he shot believed he was an active shooter. He had just killed a man in front of them.

Every day I lose a little hope for our country. Today I lost all hope for this country. American is shameful and other countries laugh at us. I've had people from foreign countries say "I'm sorry" when they hear I live in America. I hope Kyle Rittenhouse, the jury, the judge, the attorneys (defense AND prosecution) and his mother all suffer shame, guilt, and PTSD for allowing this kid to get away with murder. I hope their lives become a living hell.

Since he will be lionized and encouraged by the politicians, "news" shows, and people who think killing people for sport is super cool if you were scared when you did it, nothing good will come of this. If anything, we'll see a rash of these kinds of shootings. I guess a "good guy with a gun" will now really be necessary to stop a bad guy with one. Because an unarmed good guy (or the good guy with a gun, for that matter) is likely to be shot dead, in self-defense of course. Guess the quicker trigger finger wins. /s

That's the problem with trying to be "a good guy with a gun." You look like a bad guy with a gun. So why weren't the people who chased him, knowing he just shot one or two other protestors, "justified" in their actions, too?

And who hold the vast majority of judicial postitions (elected or appointed), so their biases are frequently on display in favor of the cis white men they love so much.

Will he be on Hannity and/or Tucker as early as tonight? Monday, for sure. Before he heads to his new job as a Congressional aide.

That's actually hilarious! Two people are dead. I fail to see how anything here is hilarious. Even if you agree with the verdict, two people are dead. And I'm disappointed to see cindosha with a laughing emoji on your thread as well. I haven't taken any position on the trial, not having watched it, actively avoiding it. But hilarious and laughter? Wow.

And if you're joyful about this decision, you are the opposite of a decent person.

I guess having the feeling that they’ll always be on the side that comes out on top of things like this, like they seem to, gives them the right to expressions of vile schadenfreude? 🤷🏼♀️

Yep, being mad about a murderer going free - and being mad at the people who think that's all super cool - is pretty funny. Ha ha.

It's this kind of thing that pushes me further and further away from the Republican party (that I actively worked for and voted for).
