Getting caught back up on the thread. I did manage to make it to June before my little boy made his arrival. He had a bit of a rough start with some days in the NICU but he's doing great now and we are home and snuggled up. I can't wait to get started on the last couple of weeks with his birth and getting to be home. May just skip ahead a bit. All kinds of baby cuteness to include. I have a feeling I will be leaning heavy on the digital side of things for a while to stay somewhat caught up. Thanks sleepingbooty for the videos. I need some things to watch!

scrappyem Oh, em, gee! I've been thinking about you, hoping to have some news soon. And yay, you've had your baby boy! I'm sorry he had to spend a few days in NICU but it sounds like all is well now and you are finally having your home-sweet-home family time. So, so happy for you! I know this wasn't an easy path for you and how much upheaval you've been through in 2022 but it's all turning out wonderfully. Well deserved, mama! (And major kudos for planning on jumping back on the PL train already. I'm very impressed. The pages are going to be beyond cute.)

So, we've been offered an emergency foster placement for a 3 ½ month-old puppy (wouldn't qualify normally due to our home but so many abandoned and neglected dogs this year, the non-profits are desperate to avoid shelter overflow euthanasia). She is completely black and sleeps with the whites of her eyes showing. Not gonna lie, she totally looks like Satan's cutest creation. I printed out a few photos to add to my PL and you know what? Not a single embellishment that mentions Satan/Lucifer, even in my super niche Halloween mini stash. I couldn't even find a basic "devil in disguise".
Scrap companies need to get with the times already. I'm going to have to mock it up myself now. So silly. There's money to be made here, folks.

When you have a group event like a birthday party, do you feel like you need to include pictures of all the guests? I worry that some people will disappear in my books because I don't get good pictures of them. My daughter had 2 birthday parties thanks to Covid and opened gifts from us in the morning. I feel like if I include everything, I will have to make 5 pages.
How do you balance space and inclusion?

I try to think when those people at a certain event will also be present at another one and try to make a mental note to include X, Y, Z during, say, the Christmas Day photos and skip them for Easter. And vice versa. I've literally added entries to my Google Calendar about getting good portraits of certain people at the next big gathering. You definitely don't have to include everyone but if your daughter has a few close friends from school, make sure they're in there for future reference (I miss a few faces from my childhood due to not having them in my personal photos). Two easy cheats: photo flips (I'm lazy so I use the pre-made Simple Stories SNAP flips) and templates. I also feel like adding a template page insert with loads of photos (like 8.5x11 in a 9x12 or 12x12 album) is a great way to get many faces in the album without adding too much bulk.

That is a good idea to make sure to get people who were missed at the next event. Sometimes I just miss taking someone's picture. I should be more intentional. My book is digital so I can't do flips or smaller inserts. But I can change the layout anytime I want. I don't have to worry about the back of a page protector. Also an extra page is not expensive. I ended up picking the pictures I liked best and had 2 pages for her birthday. January is 9 pages but it is done. The best news is that my 2021 book arrived this week from Blurb. The printing on the cover is off but I love the book.

I was recently interviewed for the Scrapbook Your Way podcast, and that episode went live today. It's all about catching up on Project Life! I share how I've customized the project to make it work for my life, how I overcome obstacles, and more. I hope there is a tip, trick, or piece of advice that helps you with your projects! I've made some good progress today, printing out two months of photos which are in already page protectors along with some 3x4 cards, and some specific embellishments I want to make sure I use. I'm really wishing I didn't have to work tomorrow because I'm so ready to start creating with all these new photos!

I got a few embellishments out I’ve hoarded for years for pl pages for this month… now I just need to do the rest! Who knew that old jolees vampire sticker would be a perfect outfit match for the phantom of the opera that we just went and saw? 😍

Yesterday I finally completed June and put it in my album… then realized it’s pretty full. Like “how the heck am I supposed to get another 6 months in here” full. I told myself I would limit myself to one 9x12 album for the year, which I used to do, but PL is my main documenting project and I guess I had a lot to include. I started off the year being very mindful of which photos I chose to include, but I haven’t been so great about that the last few months. I’m using one of the scrapbook.com plush albums and I feel like the thick covers give me even less room than I’m used to. So now I’m stuck. Do I keep the rest of the year pretty minimal and try to shove it in there, even though it would include some big holidays/moments? Do I try to transfer it to a linen album with thinner covers to accommodate more pages? My PL album holds my entire year of documenting, unless I decide to do a small side project like DD or a mini album for a trip. Even then, I still include some pictures in my PL as I do not like gaps or jumping between albums. I suppose I could take on a few seasonal side projects and play with photos and product in a mini album like DD, but I’m behind on PL already and will be making gift albums so I already have a lot on my plate. Does anybody know which manufacturer’s 9x12 albums have the most room/largest spine? Thank you for letting me vent a bit as a I know some of you understand my struggle! Any ideas/suggestions are welcome!

Does anybody know which manufacturer’s 9x12 albums have the most room/largest spine? I checked scrapbook.com to see what size the binder ring is and they're 4.25" with a 3" spine but Studio Calico doesn't list the binder ring size. The spine size is 2.5" so I guess scrapbook.com's are bigger? Plus you'd have to buy specific Studio Calico page protectors because the binder rings have more than 3 rings so that's another added expense. I got a few embellishments out I’ve hoarded for years for pl pages for this month… now I just need to do the rest! Who knew that old jolees vampire sticker would be a perfect outfit match for the phantom of the opera that we just went and saw? Isn't it nice to use up old stuff? I've made some good progress today, printing out two months of photos which are in already page protectors along with some 3x4 cards, and some specific embellishments I want to make sure I use. I think you're looking like you don't feel well tomorrow. You should totally call in sick.

I think you're looking like you don't feel well tomorrow. You should totally call in sick. If I hadn't taken a (legitimately) sick day off last week I would probably consider that. I'm still working from home so I might be able to sneak a little crafting in during some meetings I have to listen to but not present in.

At a retreat this weekend and am officially all caught up through October. Whelp that was a marathon. I really need to start printing my photos at the end of the week or month.....it's too overwhelming to do 4 months at time. This is my first time doing monthly and it looks like I'll actually fit the entire year, plus both DITL spreads, in one album. Pretty happy about that. As much as I love the 9x12 size I miss having pp's with vertical 4x6 pictures.
I think at some point I want to do a digital album. I love this project but it takes up so much of my time its hard to get to anything else.

I don't see myself getting caught up till after the new year. November is Dec Daily prep and Dec is just way busy. So I'll need to finish July - December after the new year.

Is anyone else thinking about PL 2023? I know December Daily planning is upon us, but I’m considering switching my subscription from Elles Studio to someone else, maybe Ali Edwards. I think December is when I need to do that, to get in line for a January kit. I love Elles, but now realize I have an abundance of leftover 3x4 cards from the monthly kits. I just don’t use them very often. I’ve read that Ali Edwards has shipping issues, and after being spoiled with top notch service at Elles, that will be a rough adjustment. Not sure who else offers monthly kits?

Thought I’d bump this up in case anyone is also thinking about 2023 PL subscription kits. I looked at Freckled Fawn, but they currently have a black and white kit that I can’t tell what it’s for. I like that their kit is customizable. Hip Kit also looks good. Any other monthly kits that anyone really likes?
