Valentine's Day 2022 Card Exchange. Closed. List sent.

My cards were finished today and will go to the post office tomorrow!

mine are done!!!! I am waiting for my heart stamps from USPS but I am guessing they will need more than one stamp. Thank you for this, it has rejuvinated my craftiness!

I'm loving this whole card exchange process. I've never done the one during the holidays because I was teaching and could not fathom having the energy to carry the task to completion. So now I'm considering participating in this year's holiday card exchange. Can someone give me a ballpark figure on how many people participate? I'd like to start figuring out a plan, gathering supplies, and making cards this spring.

On my NextDoor today a woman posted that Valentine's Day is her son's favorite holiday, and wondered if neighbors might send him Valentine cards, he loves them - especially homemade. I don't know much more than that. In the photo he looks to be young elementary age. If you're interested in brightening his day (how fun would it be for him to get cards from out of state?!?), shoot me a PM and I'll share his mailing info.

Oh my stars!  I had a major “duh” moment after reading about using a cutting machine for making cards.

Here’s a funny story for your enjoyment at my expense. Lol

I’ve been dithering around worrying about the cards that I make. I just wasn’t happy with them, especially after starting to receive some cards. Mine really needed some help. Digging through my stash I realized I didn’t have enough stickers or anything to try to embellish them a little bit and make them look better. I wanted to add some simple heart shapes, but I don’t have a heart shaped die. I found a heart shaped punch by EK success in a drawer.  Now I know why I never used it. I’ve been fighting with it for the last couple of days. I was about ready to throw it across the room!

I decided to read this thread to see how everyone else was coming along with their cards. Then I saw that you guys were using your cutting machines. Brilliant! Well except for the fact that I have no clue how to use my machines anymore it has literally been well over a year. I’m sure the software needs to be updated and we changed our router so I’d have to figure out how to get a machine to connect. Ugh. 

But then I remembered that I do have a Cricut Joy that I’ve used a little bit here and there. I plugged it in, stuck some paper on a card mat and started cutting out simple little hearts ♥️.  Tada!  Perfect! 😍  I am currently sitting here making my own super simple foil and glitter heart shaped cardstock stickers. 

Hopefully my cards will be done by the end of the week and they will go out in the mail. We are currently under a winter storm warning with perhaps 12 to 18 inch inches of snow, so that buys me a little time. Plus the grandson’s school has already been canceled for Wednesday and Thursday so there’s a little more time to work on my cards since I don’t have to pick him up from school.

It’s so much fun to receive a little happy mail in the mail every day. 🥰
