scrappinheather I have my set up right front of a window. Always morning light worked the best I did this for years. For Christmas I did get a photo box so I can take pictures anytime. I only use the frame and light part. After the pictures taken IG has lots of filters and editing tools , they are easy to use. If you don't use IG you can just get a free or a cheaper photo editing app. I got Snapseed years ago. I’m exhausted and it’s only 7pm on the west coast. I do not know how you east coasters are doing this. You guys are strong. I have to say, I am much more relaxed about the progress I make participating in this event for the second time. It was so stressful the first time. Tomorrow is another great day! Get a good nights sleep everyone! This is an interesting comment. The spring card event is my second SCT event; I did the scrapbook one in the fall. I loved it and am still working through it. I am so impressed by the organization, the supplies, the classes, and all the extra events. They are well worth the money, in my opinion, with the understanding that at any event, it's about the learning and not all will be my style. Although for card making, I have no particular style. I have noticed that the card makers at this event are far more type A personalities than at the scrapbooking event, or maybe that's who's posting. It began with the over-the-top (for me) organization photos, homework prep, and ink comparisons and so forth. Once the event started, it has been the posting of the same questions over and over again and again, even with great communication from SCT and then some of the comments in the classes, indicating frustration about tools, ink colors, sources for materials and tools. I have turned off the comments. These kinds of classes aren't designed for beginners or just people that have particular tools (they need to meet all levels or no one would return) or for perfection (it's a class for learning, even the instructors aren't doing it all perfectly), but the stress conveyed in some of the comments has made it feel less joyous, relaxing, and fun on my end, event through the card are beautiful and inspiring. If these were in-person classes, would these people be voicing if to the instructor or would they just get through it? In my experience, no, but maybe... I love this platform and the flexibility of the venue, being able to go back to it when I have the time. However, I may not do a card event again based on this experience. My real life is stressful enough, I don't need stress in my fun. I must say, SCT must anticipate this based on Gina K's keynote last night, which also sent a clear message IMO. I hear ya. Amy from Stamp Market got an unnecessary beating but on the other hand my big stamp worked perfectly so there's that. I think she takes it personally so she kept thinking about it the entire time. I also don't have the comments visible so unless the instructor mentions it, I don't know about it. The prep pictures were way over the top and like a competition but if that made them happy more power to them. I'm doing this event by myself and I don't have a blog or crafty instagram so it's just for me. I keep texting my mom pics of my cards but that's about it. My only stress this weekend is when to eat and pee! hahaha! Don't let the negative nellys discourage you. I'm just scrolling by the crap and it seems like the good totally outweighs the negative.

So far I'm enjoying this.

I ageee with you both! I'm totally fed up with the comments on FB "where is XX class?" READ THE SCHEDULE AND THE DIRECTIONS! Good Lord! And poor Amy -- the "I'm so disappointed because I'm stupid ... " person. But then - I have no intention of doing the cards today -- I'm playing with the stencils and inks today as the video runs. I'll play more later this afternoon -- the Lawn Fawn stencil will work (for me) for the ThermoWeb thingy and I might die cut my stenciled flowers from the Gina K class -- but then again, I might go watch more Bridgerton!

I don't read or post in the fb page. I find everyone trying to one up each other annoying. So I don't put myself into that position. I'm following the book while the girls are following the videos.

Wow, the fact that SCT had to contact members about their bad behavior is crazy! Did anyone actually see those comments in the stamp market class? What were they saying? Was it just about the stamp not giving a clean image? I’m so confused.

My real life is stressful enough, I don't need stress in my fun. I must say, SCT must anticipate this based on Gina K's keynote last night, which also sent a clear message IMO. This is my second card making event and I noticed this last time, as well - although it seems to be worse this event. I didn't think of these people as Type A's, they seem more insecure or something - I can't quite put my finger on it. I mostly ignore the comments so it doesn't stress me out, but I have read enough of them to discuss the phenomenon with my husband - I don't really understand the level of freaking out I see from some people, like some seemed really upset because they didn't get a pdf of Kristina Werner's livestreamed card last night (a very easy one to duplicate, and just rewatch the video if you don't remember something). It's kind of fascinating. It makes me feel bad for event organizers because they really have to hold hands, babysit, constantly reassure, etc. I mean, Katherine has had to send out emails about "managing expectations" which really means to me that more than just a few participants act like children. I actually have a sister-in-law who I'm very close to that is kind of like this, and I have spent a lot of time over the years reassuring her and encouraging her while she works herself up over things that at the end of the day just aren't a big deal. I missed the first two classes today due to a family commitment, but I'm looking forward to a full day of card making tomorrow. I really do love this crafty weekend.

I missed that class this morning (and I wasn't super excited about it - not my style for the cards). Your cards, however, are gorgeous and I'm feeling better about putting my own spin on those. TFS!

Was it just about the stamp not giving a clean image? I’m so confused. I missed the class due to a family event, but I caught some of Amy's wrap-up - I could only read the comments because I had the sound off - but I did see an apology in there that I thought was weird. The person said she apologized for getting upset during the class. It seemed quite formal. Then someone else replied "it's okay!" and I thought that if this person that apologized was really rude in class should someone else just be telling her it's okay? Because it's not up to her to brush it off, and people who are rude shouldn't be enabled. So, thanks for mentioning this, because I really wondered what the hell happened during class!

I have missed a couple events (last night's party and Gina K's class), but I am loving these classes! Even the ones I wasn't excited about were fun and interesting. I'm not making cards as they teach but working on some of the homework I didn't get done before. I'll watch things again and make them next weekend.
As to The Stamp Market class - if one more person interrupted about the damn discount code I was going to scream. LET HER TEACH! How many times does she have to say that they will look at it as soon as they're done? I was so frustrated for her. There was so much whining and complaining about all the steps and lining things up to stamp all the colors. The cards were more complicated to make then others but the results are really just gorgeous! This was definitely a class to watch and learn and then make later. I felt so bad for her - she was trying so hard.
On a happier note - I am definitely going to need that little stamp apparatus she used when it comes out. Loved how easy it made it to stamp the diecuts!
I also have a very long shopping list after today's classes in general - it's only going to get worse tomorrow!
So glad I signed up for this!

I tried and failed at the Photo Play class…all three of us were not fans of our finished card. I didn't love this card, either, but I thought I'd make it because I figured I should build a stash of sympathy cards. I completely failed at my first attempt and was about to put it all away when my son walked by and said "wow, that looks like stained glass! That is so cool!" and he loved the card I failed at so much that I decided to do it again. I figured just because it's not my taste doesn't mean it isn't someone else's!

azcrafty thank you so much for posting links to your posts on IG. I've been curious about the event, so I hope after the dust settles y'all will post more pics of your creations, and discuss what you learned and the like! I've just gotten into card making and wonder if I might want to do the fall event. So interested in the whole thing. Make sure to sleep, eat, and hydrate girls....and ignore the annoying women!

I missed the comments. I can't work and watch and try to comment, so I just work. haha.
I can't believe SCT had to contact some people and delete comments. The teachers are showing three cards with a lot of techniques in a short amount of time, so cut them some slack. Luckily with virtual you can stop and watch it later. My stamp didn't preform well, but I just put that card aside. My other cards came out fine. No biggie. Thankful that I can watch later. Can you imagine if this was an in person crop?
Jennifer's cards were WOW!
Another Rant of mine - And how many times do they have to tell people to look in the Guides for the classes and it won't be listed until a minute after the start time.. SMH
Looking forward to tomorrow...

I want the teachers to turn of the comments. I just can't believe that people stop a teaching moment to ask stupid questions. I mean seriously just Google it! or get on YouTube and watch some videos to find your answers. I hope Amy won't give up on this events because I really like her designs and ideas.
The hero arts class was ok, I love that company and I just wanted to see more from them. I do like how the cherry card came out. DH thought the bunny is a rat!🤣😂🤣...now is better , I cut the wiskers off.

Reading with interest. I'm so stressed about this darn retirement event I'm hosting this week at work that I decided to skip 3 classes yesterday and get things ticked off my list. I'm going to do more today - I think - if I don't stress myself out thinking about what I "should be doing" instead! I realized I would not ENJOY the classes yesterday because of my mood - I'll enjoy them more another time. It makes me sad because I did such wonderful prep work and I feel like I'm wasting it...but it will still come in handy when I sit down to do the cards for real. I'm so over the behaviour of some attendees. I roll my eyes a lot during the prep phase. But I try to remember that as an experienced crafter I can easily PIVOT a design or "colour way" (when did that become a phrase?) to my comfort, and don't need the exact tools the instructor is using. I feel sorry for the instructors trying to please everyone. No wonder Jennifer McGuire doesn't want to teach in this way!!! I didn't love this card, either, but I thought I'd make it because I figured I should build a stash of sympathy cards. I managed it my first attempt...but it's too rough to give away and I plan to tweak the design/colour and make a couple more. It's not my style either. But when DH saw it he was like "WOW! I really love that!" so, like you said, to each his own. I am looking forward to CZ this morning, mainly because I think working through the pop up designs in a class will help me be comfortable with those dies. I've made pop up cards, but always just cut my own devices.

Wow, the fact that SCT had to contact members about their bad behavior is crazy! Did anyone actually see those comments in the stamp market class? What were they saying? Was it just about the stamp not giving a clean image? I’m so confused. I saw one -- the woman was so disappointed because this is the first time she has done stamping and it is moving too fast and she doesn't know masking and she was going to quit. Frankly - I didn't read the whole thing and didn't really notice until Amy started apologizing - saying that she would answer any question any time, mentioned the FB after class meeting, email her and she would help, etc. etc. This is probably the disadvantage of a virtual event -- in every in person event I've attended, usually with a group of friends, someone around your table has a question or is looking lost, there is often/usually someone who can step in and help out with quick instruction. I love The Stamp Market - the colors, design, etc. check all boxes for me - I do think the products are a bit expensive and I totally need her design experience so I just copy what I see -- but I love the bold graphic designs ... When did Cathy Z become a 10 year old? Boop .... boop .... boop I had to quit watching. Besides - Jennifer really stole Cathy's "thunder" of the pop-up in the Sat. evening presentation -- though I like Jennifer's cards better - just a touch more complex, more adult.

I think CZ’s pace and instructions were spot on, given the wide range of experience, from rank beginner to those in the stratosphere. She reminds me to slow down and enjoy the process. I tend to focus too much on end result, but when I do stay in the moment I enjoy card making so much more. That’s one of the intangibles I appreciate about the event - the teachers’ approach.
One of the great things about the event is that if I liked even 1/2 the products and instructors, it would still be a terrific value, given the massive amount of product, videos available for at least a year - and probably much longer - and the community. Yes, the re-re-re-repeated forum questions about how to find a class or the obsession with perfect ink matching were tiresome, but I’ve had fun visiting with participants there a lot.
With 2700 people there will be a percentage that are crazy making but that’s the same with 50. 25. 10 (thinking of a few live classes I’ve taken).
I’m going to suggest that if there’s an unexpected discount, that it not be mentioned until the end of the video, and comments about it ignored or responded to by Jen or Catherine. Not that I have one iota of influence. The questions about it in Amy’s class were embarrassingly rude.
Just my take. YMMV.

Love the quad stencil but man with this design the slightest movement really throws off the design. I don’t think my stencils are defective I just need to figure out how I managed to mess up the alignment.

My Taylored Expressions stencil layer 4 is not lining up perfectly. If I line it up with 1 of the card fronts than is off with the other 3. Probably I have to send someone an email. Who should I email? SCT or Taylor? Here is the Concord and 9th class 1 http://instagram.com/p/CbnhhcFv6nJ And Taylored Expressions class 2 http://instagram.com/p/CbnifoxvSgx

We got 3 classes done today before one had to head home. Loved all 3!
We loved that CZ prerecorded hers. She didn't have to deal w teaching and reading comments etc.
TE was welcome. As expected, it was my favourite class. Nice to have a masculine option.
We also got Pink Fresh done. She was hilarious. So real and down to earth. Her husband played hockey here for a few years when he was younger.
