^^^Addendum:
I couldn’t number this extra answer because you didn’t seem to even hint at the topic in your post.
Answer: No, I do not know where AOC caught Covid.
You seem to have imbued this discussion lapse of ours with a special import - maybe some sort of significant liberal hive mind cultural phenomenon that we could avoid if only we watched a Katie Couric video. (Yes, I’m being extra snarky, but the chidings about both this discussion lapse and our assumed under-education were extra galling.)
Any discussion you wanted but didn’t get was because of your own communication lapses.

Because assumptions are made about conservative peas, name calling starts. The echo chamber of social media. The challenge board is my happy place, and I didn't want cross over is the simple answer. Because I'm human and make mistakes.
And there it is. YOU made assumptions about liberal peas, (actually peas in general) With creating the alter and your subsequent posting. YOU are blaming liberal peas for YOU being shady, dishonest and lying. “Sure I created the alt ID, but liberal peas are mean…” I’m so sick and tired of the conservatives “Libs are mean and call names” bullshit—it’s not all one sided. You all create Al ID’s to be sanctimonious, “mean” and dishonest. You keep mentioning“echo chamber” —a term that conservatives on this board have often used as a derogatory slam upon liberals—when in reality the conservatives are the ones living in that little box fueled by the misinformation and lies on social media. Your apology is not an apology—it’s another chance to blame others—liberals—given your very first sentence in your “apology”.

Lol. It hasn't even been a week and the peas have proven my point. There was even a link to the WORLD Economic Forum, but they just couldn't help themselves. I was actually one of the first to point out that perhaps Gorshuch was posting global numbers, so your none of the peas care about the world is completely misplaced. One cannot counter an actual statistics for a country, with a global statistic to make any kind of reasonable point. It is not a valid comparison. I appreciate that you pointed out that Gorsuch could have been referring to global numbers, especially since some are now pretending it was always crystal clear that he was only referring to the US. You did, however, post after me, and myshelly who had also made the same point. I also did not say that no peas cared.

I’ve gotten the fucking vax and as such, I will no longer mask. It’s not effective and I feel like I’m suffocating in one. Too bad. My grandson has Covid induced asthma. He really feels like he’s suffocating. You could be spreading it to people like my grandson right now. How can you not see that this is not just about your feelings. Have some compassion for others.

The sulking is something that only happened inside your own head. Meanwhile here in the real world you've again shown that your instinct is to conflate people and Americans. You even spent time Googling American stats, typed up and posted a reply, before you realised that the numbers could refer to worldwide numbers. And that was with a link to the WEF staring you in the face. At least you're learning.

angel97701, I am truly sorry for what your family has endured. I am sure it has not been an easy road. I’m not huge on apologies, but that’s another thread. I care more about how people participate and interact with each other here. I think that will be really hard after this, but I couldn’t overlook what you’ve shared. We’re human. And if you could use a hug after all of this, I’m offering. Peace, sister.

angel97701 , thank you for your apology. As a mother of 2 special needs sons who has had to call the police at one time or the other on both of them, I know how challenging it can be. While COVID brought new challenges, I can honestly say that it was swapping difficulties: things were challenging/bad before COVID. And while the necessary social responses to COVID has brought unique challenges - online school did not work for my more severe younger son - I never, for an instant, thought that the solution was to drop mask mandates, to stop requiring vaccinations (both my sons have received 3 doses), or to have society pretend that the COVID pandemic and people dying in the hundreds of thousands isn’t a big deal and to “get back to pre-COVID normal” now. To AOC: she did absolutely nothing wrong. She ate outside at a restaurant with someone in her bubble. She didn’t wear a mask while eating. No one does - because you can’t. I am vaccinated, boosted, and still wear a mask 100% of the time indoors (outside of the house) unless I am eating. I have gone to restaurants with friends and eaten outdoors on numerous occasions, there is nothing wrong with that. I have even gone with my family to *gasp* Florida. There is nothing wrong with it. No one said that there was. I say this sincerely, this is not the place for you to discuss politics if you are so bothered by the pushback that you will receive that you feel the need to create an alter. There is nothing that says that you must discuss politics here. It clearly doesn’t bring you joy, nor nourish your soul to do it here, so why? It is hard for me to see the push to create an alter and bring up what you know as controversial topics as anything but trolling. You didn’t do it to honestly learn anything, you did it to somehow strike back at the community for not sharing your views. As someone who had to sacrifice her first career to care for her special needs sons, I wish you the best in that never-ending struggle. It is exhausting. Focus on activities that bring you joy, that energize you, and if you feel the need to discuss politics, do it someplace where you feel safe.

How can you not see that this is not just about your feelings. Have some compassion for others. She’s proven, through her own words and posts, that she doesn’t give a crap about anyone but herself. Apparently, if you’re a “fat ass”, have diabetes, cancer, other underlying illnesses you’re just lazy and will get covid and be hospitalized and/or die. It’s that conservative mentality—me, me, me, mine, fuck everyone else.

Exactly my point. Conservatives talk about it, are sanctimonious about outwardly to liberals (everyone but themselves) it thinking and speaking as if they are not the living embodiment of being in it/doing it.

Do you want to stay out of hospitals ?? get off your fat ass and exercise, lose some weight, quit smoking, quit drinking, quit eating fast food and get healthy. That is truly one of the most offensive things I have read on this thread. I'll be sure to share that with my sweet sister in law and her children and grandchildren, that if their wonderful husband/father/grandfather had followed this advice, he would not have died of Covid. Oh but wait, he wasn't fat, lazy, didn't drink a drop of alcohol or smoke. God, you are a piece of work. And you wonder why conservatives are treated the way they are. THIS is why.

AOC didn't break any rules. No one's saying she did, but she's guilty of being a horrible human. She condemned Cruz with "fled his home state and responsibilities during a crisis to seek refuge in Mexico" and "maybe Mexico shouldn't let YOU in next time you try to run away from your job to sip umbrella drinks in Cancun."
Then she turned around and did the same damn thing she condemned him for during her state's historic record of Covid cases hitting, just substitute Miami for Cancun as she's snapped "fleeing her crisis state to sip cocktails" and "avoid any of her responsibilities". She fled her own state with "such great covid policies" for a state with policies she condemns. She's a hypocrite.
Then she accuses DeSantis of being missing from HIS job. During the holidays. Turns out he was assisting his wife with her cancer treatments and attending to their 3 small children. Did she apologize for condemning him when she didn't know wtf she was talking about? Then when people point out her hypocrisy and basically being the asshat she accuses others of being, her answer is "people are only mad because they want to date her?!!!" She really doesn't do herself any favors in her asshattery or her response to it being pointed out.

You seem to have imbued this discussion lapse of ours with a special import - maybe some sort of significant liberal hive mind cultural phenomenon that we could avoid if only we watched a Katie Couric video. (Yes, I’m being extra snarky, but the chidings about both this discussion lapse and our assumed under-education were extra galling.) Any discussion you wanted but didn’t get was because of your own communication lapses. The video is applicable to both liberal and conservative alike. Social media algorithms have pushed us into corners more so that if we were actually discussing things IRL, like 2 generations ago. The divide has become greater, and yes both sides have been inappropriate. All for the love of the $$$$, how do they get more views?
Merge and papercrafteradvocate this applies to your comments as well. I have said many times, I am following the guidelines, and I do care about others. But I want to hear both sides of truth, not just want mainstream media is feeding us. I read the scientific studies, some of which have since been debunked. For example early one it was said A type blood was more likely to have a more severe case. Now that more data is in that proves to be false, as well as Rh- factor being more protective. I'm speaking of studies I read when I did get vaccinated in early 2021.
There are so many lessons to be learned from this pandemic, which incidentally epidemiologists have said the world was over-due for a pandemic. Read here and here.
One of the reasons I do read some of the political threads I do want to know how the more liberal side is thinking. But as elaine suggested, I need to stay away as this does not bring me joy. Because again, even when I offer a sincere apology, I was still called a profane name.

But unfortunately there are some people in this world who are all me me me me me And on this board. Or they're the "I had to do my own research" ya know, cuz it's so easy to become a google epidemiologist. I'm sure they "do their own research" on all the other stuff they put into and on their bodies too.

Once again, some ding-dong used worldwide numbers in an argument about U.S. numbers. I guess my problem is in taking people at face value when they make a forceful statement. At least my numbers were, ya know, both correct and applicable to the discussion at hand.

Yes, omicron is spiking, but it's definitely not the first spike. False comparison, false equivalency. DeSantis was AWOL for 2 weeks. And his explanation was full of holes. He took his wife to a cancer treatment but they went to a football game another day. If he can attend a football game, he can work from home. And why did he disappear for 2 weeks? Why didn't he say in advance that's what he was doing? There's speculation that he had covid. DeSantis's staff started everything with a taunting post, possibly to distract or deflect from their boss who was MIA. I agree she could have responded in a better way. However, that's really the only thing she did wrong in this situation. You can disagree with her politics, but this is basically the conservatives flipping out over nothing.

I appreciate your apology and I'm sorry for your family struggles. However, I find it difficult to see how your original post, another thread that you started about AOC and and a thread you started about Biden's town hall were in any way an attempt to have an open or honest discussion. From your posts, you have strong opinions about AOC and Biden and don't really seem willing to listen to any other opinions. This really seems like an attempt at a gotcha thread.

How were are short on health care workers, bus drivers, substitute teachers, and almost every service sector does not have enough workers?
Did the former administration lie? Or was not as much information known about Covid 19. Does the current administration lie . . . Fauci? What other democrats have "done as they want" Gavin Newsom, Pompeo, Feinstein, Pelosi, disgraced Andrew Cuomo just to name a few.
Look at our economy, gas prices and groceries are sky rocketing, supply chains are severely compromised. It's time to look around and come together, to help each other, to be kind, to have personal responsibility. If you are sick, STAY HOME! If you are exposed, quarantine for 5 days (actually did a 14 day quarantine early on). I've done all of those.
And yes I started this thread to see where the rabbit hole would go. I am obviously not a fan of the current administration, the inflation, and mandates. But I've followed them nonetheless. I wasn't necessarily a fan of the past administration, but at least we had workers who did their jobs, we were energy self sufficient, and our bill of rights was protected.
Look at countries and areas that have followed the common sense rule of thumb. The Amish here in the US, South Dakota, Sweden, etc. Read the studies coming out of Israel . . . that native immunity (from having covid) conveys a stronger immunity for longer. Covid is not going away, but how it effects our country and world can be changed.
There are so many falsehoods in this statement, I don't even know where to start. The study from Israel had several major faults and has not been peer reviewed. South Dakota and Sweden are not positive role models to follow. The Swedish government acknowledged they made mistakes. North and South Dakota are the only 2 states with a higher number of covid cases in 2020 vs 2021, after the vaccine was available. One of the reasons we have fewer workers? 800,000 people died of covid. Another? People retired or changed jobs in record numbers. It's a labor shortage. Workers have the flexibility and luxury to choose a job that suits them. Companies can't find workers at the rate, benefits, schedule etc that they're offering. Do you realize Pompeo is most decidedly not a Democrat? He was the Republican secretary of state under Trump. Your point about Democratic politicians is kind of irrelevant if you don't even know which ones are Republican vs Democrat And yes, Trump lied more than 30,000 times. It's been well documented. Has the current administration lied? Sure, but not even remotely close to the number of times Trump lied, comparing their first years in office. In a single day, Nov 2, 2020, Trump lied 502 times which is probably more than Biden lied in his entire first year. During Trump's first year, he averaged about 6 lies a day. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/Energy self sufficient? That's an oversimplification, we still import 2 million barrels of oil a day from overseas. I'm curious what you think Biden did in one year to undo that? One way to achieve true energy independence is renewable energy. angel97701 This is one of many posts (before the thread was derailed) where you had an opportunity to respond or to have an actual discussion and you never responded. This is why I don't think you're being honest when you say you want to know what the other side is thinking. An easy way to know what the other side is thinking? Watch, read or listen any neutral news source like PBS, NPR, BBC, Reuters, AP, Axios etc. Even the networks - ABC, NBC & CBS are closer to neutral than you might think. I'm not a huge fan, but the Wall Street Journal's news (not the opinion pieces) are more neutral than Fox these days.

A little bit different then fleeing your state for a warmer climate during a freezing weather event that killed over 200 people and left millions without power. And AOC did not respond appropriately, IMHO, but TC blamed his kids for his little trip.

No one is supposed to take a vacation or visit out of state family during that time? No one is supposed to take care of their spouse during cancer treatments and pick up the slack with their 3 small children? And his explanation was full of holes. He took his wife to a cancer treatment but they went to a football game another day. You're saying it's full of holes because during time off for cancer care and the holidays they took a break from the stress and went to a game to enjoy life for a moment? That's what you call "full of holes"? If he can attend a football game, he can work from home. How do you know he didn't get work done from home? What didn't get done?

Are you really equating a short term emergency like the Texas freeze and covid? We've been dealing with covid for almost 2 years. No one is supposed to take a vacation during that time? And I believe AOC was visiting her mother, correct? A little bit different then fleeing your state for a warmer climate during a freezing weather event that killed over 200 people and left millions without power. And AOC did not respond appropriately, IMHO, but TC blamed his kids for his little trip. Leaving for warmer climates while people died from the weather. Leaving for laxer covid restrictions while people died and hospitalized at record numbers. Taking care of his kids. Visiting her mother. Yeah, it's all in how you frame it. He didn't "blame" his kids, he simply said "he was being a dad". Occasionally, when you're a dad/mom, that will happen. The dad or mom hat comes on. He also admitted it was a mistake to go at that time. He should have known that before he made that choice, but at least he admitted it was a mistake to do and not defending it.

As absolutely nothing in this reply applies to the point I was making in what you’ve quoted from me (or, more significantly, what you left out), I’m at a loss. If you want to keep discussing this video - which I used as a example of something I suspect you still don’t understand - have at it. There will be those, though, like me, who will throw their hands up and cry “Uncle!”
