Say it with me. IF TRUMP WOULD HAVE DONE HIS J.O.B. WE WOULDN'T BE IN THIS PREDICAMENT. There would be loads less anti-vaxers and possibly MANY lives saved. Trump is FOR the vaccine, you know that right? He got all of them. Operation "Warp Speed" and all that. He even actively encourages people to get them. How do you blame him for people who don't want the jab? Let's start with how he downplayed the virus, he deliberately deceived people about the seriousness because he was more concerned about the election and the stock market. He lied to his supporters when he had covid, told them it was no big deal. He neglected to mention he had state of the art medical treatment, not available to everyday Americans at the time. He received the vaccine in secret. All of the other living presidents did public service announcements encouraging people to get the vaccine. He was notably missing. He's been very vocal about get the vaccine or don't, its your choice, emphasis on choice.

Not only is he the former president and his incompetence in handling the virus is relevant, regrettably, he’s the head of the Republican Party. Republican politicians are tripping over themselves for his approval. DeSantis and Abbott are competing to see who can do more to stop all mitigation measures. Both of them are huge proponents of let em rip, Trump’s only strategy in the summer of 2020. As soon as Republican voters and politicians turn on Trump, I’m willing to dismiss him. Until then, like it or not, he’s still relevant. I remember when Trump wanted to close the borders in January 2020 and he was ridiculed as a xenophobe. What does that have to do with him not being relevant? You're defending him, clearly he's relevant to a discussion about covid. And I think you just contradicted your own point.

What I am truly more concerned about is the education our children. Kinders, 1st and 2nd graders who have never seen their teacher's faces. Our newly minted HS freshman and sophomores who don't know how to be students in High School. All of the exacerbation of mental health issues from isolation, drug addictions and overdoses, suicides . . . all because of social isolation. How were are short on health care workers, bus drivers, substitute teachers, and almost every service sector does not have enough workers?
If I read one more non-teacher get up in this place and "worry" about education while at the same time talking out the other side of their mouth about "don't push the vaccine" and "it's just a flu" I'm going to launch myself like a missile into outer space and never return. Vaccines should be required for staff and all students to stop the spread of COVID, which is deadlier than the flu and has far more serious long term effects (including on children), such as higher risk for diabetes and brain damage. If you care about kids' education, care about THAT. Maybe children have mental health issues because one or more family members have been ill or died from COVID, or are suffering long term health problems. What are you doing and what politicians are you voting for who support greater community resources, including health care and more funding for schools? Talk about THAT before I hear you utter ONE FUCKING WORD about masks in schools and kids not "seeing teachers' faces." Signed, a teacher of 25 years teaching in the global pandemic ETA: I hope you signed up to sub in your local school district since you're concerned about sub teacher shortage.

Did the former administration lie? Or was not as much information known about Covid 19. Does the current administration lie . . . Fauci? What other democrats have "done as they want" Gavin Newsom, Pompeo, Feinstein, Pelosi, disgraced Andrew Cuomo just to name a few.
Look at our economy, gas prices and groceries are sky rocketing, supply chains are severely compromised. It's time to look around and come together, to help each other, to be kind, to have personal responsibility. If you are sick, STAY HOME! If you are exposed, quarantine for 5 days (actually did a 14 day quarantine early on). I've done all of those.
And yes I started this thread to see where the rabbit hole would go. I am obviously not a fan of the current administration, the inflation, and mandates. But I've followed them nonetheless. I wasn't necessarily a fan of the past administration, but at least we had workers who did their jobs, we were energy self sufficient, and our bill of rights was protected.
Look at countries and areas that have followed the common sense rule of thumb. The Amish here in the US, South Dakota, Sweden, etc. Read the studies coming out of Israel . . . that native immunity (from having covid) conveys a stronger immunity for longer. Covid is not going away, but how it effects our country and world can be changed.
There are so many falsehoods in this statement, I don't even know where to start. The study from Israel had several major faults and has not been peer reviewed. South Dakota and Sweden are not positive role models to follow. The Swedish government acknowledged they made mistakes. North and South Dakota are the only 2 states with a higher number of covid cases in 2020 vs 2021, after the vaccine was available. One of the reasons we have fewer workers? 800,000 people died of covid. Another? People retired or changed jobs in record numbers. It's a labor shortage. Workers have the flexibility and luxury to choose a job that suits them. Companies can't find workers at the rate, benefits, schedule etc that they're offering. Do you realize Pompeo is most decidedly not a Democrat? He was the Republican secretary of state under Trump. Your point about Democratic politicians is kind of irrelevant if you don't even know which ones are Republican vs Democrat And yes, Trump lied more than 30,000 times. It's been well documented. Has the current administration lied? Sure, but not even remotely close to the number of times Trump lied, comparing their first years in office. In a single day, Nov 2, 2020, Trump lied 502 times which is probably more than Biden lied in his entire first year. During Trump's first year, he averaged about 6 lies a day. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/Energy self sufficient? That's an oversimplification, we still import 2 million barrels of oil a day from overseas. I'm curious what you think Biden did in one year to undo that? One way to achieve true energy independence is renewable energy.

One of the reasons we have fewer workers? 800,000 people died of covid. Not just Covid: "Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said 75% of vaccinated people who died of COVID-19 had at least four comorbidities, sparking an outpouring of commentary from people surprised by her statement and others saying, “I told you so.” The top health official made the comment on ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday, days after Dr. Anthony Fauci said on TV that statistics on child hospitalizations are being overblown. Vaccine mandate skeptics have said the COVID-19 death toll was inflated by people who died with COVID-19 as opposed to dying of COVID-19, and some of them claimed they were made into pariahs or punished on social media for making these claims. “The overwhelming number of deaths, over 75%, occurred in people who had at least four comorbidities,” Walenksy said. She added that this was “encouraging news” considering the spread of the omicron variant, which health officials believe is more transmissible than other strains but causes less severe illness.Walensky was referring to a study that used data from U.S. healthcare facilities to look at more than 12 million adults who completed "primary vaccination" between December 2020 to October 2021. Among the tiny percentage of those who died (36 people), 78% suffered from at least four comorbidities. Some on Twitter took Walensky’s comment to indicate that if COVID-19 mainly kills people with comorbidities, it’s a good sign. “It is ‘encouraging’ to (Walensky) that chronically ill and disabled Americans are dying … our deaths clearly don’t count,” tweeted Matthew Cortland, a lawyer who said he suffers from a chronic illness. The CDC told the Washington Examiner that Walensky’s comment was not meant to marginalize people with existing health problems. “She is deeply concerned and cares about the health and well-being of people with disabilities and those with medical conditions who have been impacted by COVID-19,” the CDC said. “The CDC director continues her commitment to protect all Americans in this next stage of the pandemic.” gazette.com/ap/cdc-director-says-75-of-covid-19-deaths-had-4-or-more-comorbidities/article_2c944302-7267-11ec-91c9-a3689650d909.html

Trump lied. Knowingly and repeatedly. The man is pathological liar though. I suppose that excuses him. He can’t help himself. Yes, carry on. Say it with me: TRUMP ISN'T THE PRESIDENT Yes, but he still takes up a vast amount of real estate in most of the left’s brains which just tickles the hell out of me. 🤣🤣🤣

They really don’t. This thinking showed up in snarky meme form, in my FB feed today. So because omicron is so much more contagious, my vaxxed and boostered chances of getting it have increased, it somehow renders a vaccine that will STILL more that likely keep me from dying or needing hospitalization, as completely useless? Sterilizing immunity exists with very few vaccines, even the current polio one - which has been effective enough without it to eradicate it in almost all countries. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think that if you get Covid you’re going to end up on ventilator or die from it. We have morons who are so afraid of getting Covid even though they’re vaccinated and boosted and masked that they put their own children in the trunks of cars and drive them to a testing station to get tested because they’re afraid of catching it from their child. WTF!! between 97% and 99.5% of people survive Covid and they have since the beginning of this pandemic. Do you want to stay out of hospitals ?? get off your fat ass and exercise, lose some weight, quit smoking, quit drinking, quit eating fast food and get healthy. For the vast majority of people, this omicron variant is nothing more than a cold and sniffles and people are losing their shit over it. There is a 2% death rate and those are people with co-morbidities or unvaxed. If you are vaccinated and boosted, quit worrying about this. You can’t blame unvaccinated people for giving “you” Covid anymore. It can be spread by people that are vaccinated and masked. We need to get back to just living our lives like we should be, get people back into their jobs, get children back in school, we are doing them a huge disservice by them not being in the classrooms. Let’s hope this trend continues and the next variant in the variants after that are weaker and weaker and weaker. 2% of the American population is 6.6 million people dead. You cool with that? I realize you don’t give a shit about any individual person, but how do you think our workforce will look when it’s missing 6.6 million people, and another several million are disabled with long Covid? You can make stupid comments all day about supposed over counting if Covid deaths, but the excess mortality numbers don’t lie.

Plus if you wanted to get a medical or religious exemption it's not that hard. The people that are getting laid off, are trying really hard TO get laid off. So it's their choice.

Working in a hospital through the pandemic and I am so tired of hearing this. If you died in a trauma and have Covid we mark you had Covid to alert the mortuary but it is not listed as the cause of death but as a condition to alert others too. We don't have the data to know which cases are omicron vs delta. For the week of Jan 1, 95% of reported cases were omicron. Even if only 1% of 1,700 deaths per day are omicron, we're at a number much higher than 100. For a lot of reasons, the death rate from omicron is likely to be higher in the US vs South Africa or the UK

1,700 people are dying of covid every day. 48,742 people die each day from cardiovascular diseases 26,181 die each day from cancers 10,724 die each day from respiratory diseases (not including the 7,010 who die from lower respiratory infections) People die. Every day. Covid is a big problem, but it's not the only problem. assets.weforum.org/editor/DGeMsvX0uNKPCo7qMyTM8zPQDhZFCWEZlOwYyCm3Dp4.jpgAs far as I know, CV, cancer, and respiratory diseases are not wildly contagious and knocking out so many of our teachers and health care workers at once that schools and hospitals can’t function.

I don’t get the fixation. An astonishingly large amount of people died within a relatively short amount of time AFTER they got Covid.
