I agree that Americans frequently see themselves as the center of the universe. However, I don't think that's the case here or in the SC controversy.  Gorsuch was misquoted, he wasn't talking worldwide covid deaths.  As many peas pointed out, in the context of a a US Supreme court case hearing about US vaccine mandates, worldwide deaths are not really relevant.   And in this thread, we were discussing the number of US deaths per day from covid.  Worldwide deaths from heart disease are a false comparison, I think thats the point many of use were trying to make  No one suggested worldwide deaths didn't matter, just that they were not relevant to a discussion about covid and mitigation measures in the US.

WE are all experimental lab rats of the media, social media (making money off of us), etc.  Perhaps being educated about the background of how our country became so divided would be helpful?  I apologize that you feel like I made you participate in being a experimental lab rat, but you did join the conversation of your own free will, you were not forced.

So, an experiment to find out what, exactly?  That people will dispute unsubstantiated facts?  That people believe that the best way out of this is to think of society as a whole and not just ourselves and what WE want?

God knows I'm tired of COVID.  I'm pretty sure EVERYONE is tired of COVID and angry that this had to happen during our lifetimes.  But the fact is, is did.  And what we all need to do is to do our best to follow practices that help mitigate it and lessen the impact it has on our lives--including hospitals and schools.  If people were doing that, it would be less likely that "everyone will get it" because we'd be protecting each other.  It's really not that hard to understand.
