I tried checking the end of the thread here about the trucker convoy in Canada first, and I just couldn't take reading any more.
Maybe some of y'all can relate to that. Maybe you can't. Whatever. It is what it is, and what it is has been here for years on end now.
The little that I read of that thread makes me truly wonder what you are basing your opinions on.
I'm basing my opinions on a Canadian live-streamer I've been watching for quite a number of years now - someone who consciously tries to be as objective on any subject as is humanly possible - as well as other live-streaming videos.
I've watched hour after hour after hour of life on the ground with the truckers and protesters in Ottawa, and I've got to say that what I read of the overwhelming opinion here represented NONE of what I was seeing streaming live.
So, the obvious question here is why what I'm seeing happening live is so dramatically different from the opinions of people here?
Answer however you wish. I'm not starting this thread to debate or argue, and at this moment I have zero desire to comment further. I just simply want to know what you are basing your opinions on.

I am honestly confused by the whole thing. Isn't it like 90% of them are vaccinated? It seems like a few truckers are pissed off at all the mandates and this is how they are choosing to protest? I did do some googling trying to find a good news source in Canada, but wasn't sure. Wouldn't a local news station be best? I know that Fox cable network is extremely right wing, but my local Fox station has an excellent political reporter I follow on Twitter. AND it is Canada, they seem to take journalism more seriously than the U.S.
ETA: To answer your question, I have been looking at news on Twitter. It seems what comes up most is small video clips of what appears protestors being hurt, BUT I need to see everything to know what's really going on.

Just a note - the people I'm watching live have made a continual point to state that what cbc is reporting is dramatically biased and is not at all representing what has been happening.

With all due respect, this is about the most biased source possible. I am listening to Canadian family and friends, following a few Twitter threads and checking out mainstream media (CBC, CTV, Global). This is an interesting opinion piece from truckernews.com that sums up what most Canadians I know are saying and thinking.

Wouldn't a local news station be best? I know that Fox cable network Before I restart watching the live stream I'm now watching, I thought I'd answer. I'm not in Canada. I don't watch Canadian news. I'm only relaying what I have heard people willingly step up to an online live-streamer to state, and what they are overwhelmingly saying is that what they are seeing on the news is NOT what they are seeing in real life. I WAS surprised to hear FOX news specifically noted and thanked several times yesterday for at least showing some of what they were seeing in real life. I watched a little FOX news later that night to see and did see clips that looked like they may have come from live-streamers. That's my own witness account of what I heard from an online live-stream from random strangers, so take it for what it is and nothing more. As for what is happening... I guess that depends on where you get your news from. If you listen to Premier Prime Minister Trudeau, who personally is in awe of communist China (his own words, not my opinion), his statements to the media and on the floor of government are those of denigration of all of the people who have a disagreement with his mandates and who have repeatedly and unsuccessfully sought to speak with him. I watched him speak online to a representative body (senate?), so those weren't news clips but real time video that I refer to. He walked out of this body instead of answering the thrice called for demands to renounce his comments to the body - which included Jewish descendants of Holocaust survivors - about standing with Nazis. The US government has not disagreed with him. Those are facts as stripped of as much personal opinion as I am capable of stating. And, with that, this is way more than I intended on saying and it's probably best for me to back away from the thread now.

Not in Canada but we have CTV on our cable network, so I’ve watched that. And then various things around the internet. I try to read a variety of thing from left leaning to right leaning so I can get the full spectrum…knowing the things probably fall somewhat in the middle.

With all due respect, this is about the most biased source possible. Biased source? The primary person I've been watching is NOT with the convoy or any group and has been driving in from another part of Canada to live-stream life as it is on the ground "behind the lines". Period. That's why I asked what sources people here have been getting their information from. But thanks so much for calling me biased. Always nice to have actual discussions with people. Logging out now.

I am watching cbc.ca on their news channel, LIVE. I can see for myself what is happening in REAL TIME. Swastika logos, Confederate flags and other such things are NOT CANADIAN. Canada never had a civil war, the Americans did. BTW, People who are arrested do NOT have MIRANDA rights as that is American law, not Canadian law.

You somehow think that an “unbiased” live streamer inviting “random strangers” (who are actually the protestors) to share their points of view about what is happening at their protest is somehow quantitatively more reliable than any other coverage? And they thank Fox News. Okay.
Your comments about Trudeau are telling. And also irrelevant. Except in what they reveal about your own bias going into this exercise.

But thanks so much for calling me biased. Always nice to have actual discussions with people. I didn't call you biased. I said your source of information was biased. Is s/he talking to anyone in the trucking community, public health officials, politicians? Watching hour after hour of "life on the ground" tells you very little. Certainly not what their life is normally and how they ended up in Ottawa.

It isn't denigration of all of the people who have a disagreement with him, just the ones who should be denigrated. Shades of Hillary calling the deplorables deplorable. ETA To repeat what I posted upthread and I'd love to hear your thoughts on:

It’s always awesome when people from another country want to tell citizens of that country, they’ve no idea what’s going on in their own country. And they are the only truly enlightened one.
Like these people don’t have friends and family all over the country? Especially rich coming from someone who doesn’t even know the difference between a Premier and a Prime Minister. 🤷🏼♀️😏

Left-leaning legacy media
Right-leaning legacy media
====================================
I don't even understand what a legacy media might be, let alone left or right.
What does that mean?

Left-leaning legacy media Right-leaning legacy media ==================================== I don't even understand what a legacy media might be, let alone left or right. What does that mean? It's a right wing buzz word for actual media and journalists. Things like newspapers and CNN and apparently even Fox. Conservatives have moved on to "more reliable" sources like Newsmax, ONN, live streamers and RT.

I checked all that apply. I would say that the only news portraying this accurately is my personal experience there, my friends and family that live in ottawa and live feeds I have seen. I used to watch CP24 news channel daily and now I can’t even turn it on anymore. I am so ashamed of the government in Canada right now, my heart hurts.

Lots of the people protesting are vaccinated, they are not anti vaccine they are anti mandate. I am fully vaccinated but believe mandates are government overreach. I have a close friend that has been in ottawa every weekend since it started because he is a firefighter that got his first shot and now has heart problems so won’t get his second shot and has now lost his job.
