Come confess your "sins" in the name of paper, embellishments and the unholy glitter (no, seriously, it gets everywhere). Anything goes: hiding scrappy purchases, overspending, current annoyances with the industry, unpopular opinions. This is your place to vent and just let it out, no questions asked, no Hail Marys on the way out. Unburden yourself!

I'll go first... Unpopular opinion: I want to see the 2022 Halloween and Christmas collections. I'm ready! I want to get tempted. I don't like the colder seasons and shorter days. I live for summer. I'm all for the sun, love the heat, long dusky evenings outside and everything else that screams June, July and August in the Northern hemisphere. But I really look forward to seeing what the industry has come up with for later in the year. Go figure!

Okay, confession time...
Most of my pages are fairly basic and simple, because I use the room for photos and journaling. And I don't love them.
I LOVE how my pages look when I have one pic, barely any journaling, and just slather it in layers of paper and embellishments. I usually do this with Christmas & Halloween layouts, since it's pretty much the same every year, story wise.
I don't bother buying stamps and dies anymore because I'm too lazy to use them.
I used to scrapbook because I wanted to have happy memory books to look back on with my family. Now that it's clear that my family doesn't care about them (other than my youngest, sometimes), I scrapbook for me, so that I can remind myself of my life when I'm old and have dementia.
Too much product comes out every season/year. And yet somehow it all looks the same. I'm bored of it. There are no innovations anymore, and it has really dimmed my enthusiasm for that part of the hobby.
And when something I do like comes out, I often forget to buy it because I can only find it online and I'm tired of seeing it for pre-order for months before I can actually order it. By then I'm over it.

I totally hide purchases from my husband. Which is absolutely ridiculous because he fully supports my hobby and is a big enabler. Whenever I’m waffling on buying something “big” (like a die press) he encourages me to, etc. In fact he gets a kick out of seeing what new goodies are tickling my fancy.
But I still have an urge to downplay my buying. I guess that just alludes to the fact I know I but more than necessary? I wouldn’t say I’m excessive though, just not scrimping by any measure. In all other areas I’m pretty much a “waste not want not” personality though. Scrapbooking is my weakness and I guess I’m not willing to own that yet!

Annoyance: I like themes, I use them, but I can only use a word so many times on a layout. For example, I have more first day of school stickers and die cuts than I have first day of school's left (including college, and my youngest is in 2nd grade) and I have four kids. There are other days of school besides the first (and none involve apples.) Seriously companies, be creative. Confession: I don't like Tim Holtz stuff and donated a Tim Holtz paper pad DH bought me (from Amazon I'm guessing, he won't go into a craft store without me) it was supposed to be Christmas themed but it was dark and grubby (maybe it was supposed to look like soot?) I own about seven distress oxides and that is the extent of my Tim Holtz collection. Ban me from the scrapworld, I don't care

It's not a confession, but more of an unpopular opinion/situation,..... NON-NEGOTIONAL RULES of mine.
I am taking photos for my use, with MY camera or phone. I will never again rely on anyone else to text, email, make me copies. Based on past experience years, decades ago.... the other photo taker, NEVER gave me copies (I asked several times). I don't care if the other persons camera is better, fancier, more expensive. I AM TAKING MY OWN PHOTOS. In the time wasted going back and forth about it, we both could have taken our photos and we'd be done already. The person has tried to guilt me, coerce me, over-rule me. I will not give in on this ever.
I do NOT loan out my scrapbooks. If someone else wants to make copies of my scrapbook pages, I will happily meet them at copy place with all of my scrapbooks. But, my scrapbooks are not ever leaving my possession. I will bring them to Family gatherings, and they can be looked at under my supervision, then they are going back to my car. Years ago, I had two pages go missing from a scrapbook that I had brought to showoff at a Family gathering. Someone removed them from the scrapbook, no idea who. I didn't realize it until a much later date, that two layouts had been removed.
I don't care if anyone thinks I am a bitch, selfish, uncooperative, disagreeable, etc... my rules are firm and non-negotiable.

Confession: I have hidden scrappy purchases. In fact, just the other day I was vacuuming under the bed and found a bag I had stashed there from TM with a few scrappy goodies I didn't even remember buying. Of course DH was right there when I found it. 🙃 I am thrifty, to a fault sometimes, in every other area of my life, so like someone mentioned above I should just come to terms that I can't reisit pretty paper and cute stickers!

I spend way too much on stamps and dies. I can afford it but I still spend too much. I have zero regrets about it.
There are a couple companies I feel take advantage of the industry so I purchase those dies from AliExpress.
Jennifer McGuire can sell me just about anything. The number of unused alcohol inks, Nuvo drops and gem stones I have is ridiculous! She’s trying to sell me on hot foiling and I’m not sure how much longer I can resist. 😂

I’ve used the Tiny Attacher for ages and it’s a very used & loved tool. I got his stamp platform over the smelly flower one. That was my first TH purchase in about 8 years (the stapler being the first and only until then). I got two oxides recently and don’t get the appeal. The grunge look is not for me. But mostly my disdain comes from videos I saw of him way back in the original 2peas days where he really rubbed me the wrong way. Those first (negative) impressions are lasting.

My name is Leeny and I suffer from FOMO (Fear of missing out). During the shutdown of the pandemic I bought so many supplies from virtual classes and shows that are still stacked in my craft room still in their boxes and bags.
My gripe with companies is that they all seem to have the same themes at the same time, just different versions. How does that even happen?

My gripe with companies is that they all seem to have the same themes at the same time, just different versions. How does that even happen? There is a very strict and rigid agenda for themed releases in scrapbooking. I've noticed it too. One year, Pink Paislee came out with a more autumn-coloured collection that was demonstrated by the brand with wedding photos (fit the aesthetic perfectly) and people were kind of confused.

I too went a little nuts during shelter in place and bought all the things & classes, and those class kits are all just sitting in the closet. Now that I only get my monthly kits from Paper Person and the sampler kit from SCT, I actually scrap more, funny how that works! I'm not a fan of Tim Holtz either, although I do like the oxides because they blend so well. I don't like grungy at all in my scrapbooking. I don't like Ali Edwards handwriting or the repetitive-ness of her kits. I do appreciate how she gets people to document/write down their story but I just don't get the appeal of her kits anymore. I stopped following people on instagram who only use her kits because it annoys me too much. This isn't really a confession, just a statement: I love how anything goes in this hobby now. If you're a strict 12x12 1 photo on a layout scrapper, GREAT! If you only work in pocket pages, AWESOME! If you love TN's and small albums, AMAZING! If you only use pictures and stamping, RIGHT ON! It warms the cockles of my cold dead heart to see so many different styles these days.

You all are making me smile. LavenderLayoutLady glad you are still keeping those albums. I didn't get nostalgic about family history until most of the people who could answer questions were no longer around. I do have one of my gramma's scrapbooks and I cherish it so much. It's the old fashioned kind - a poem from a newspaper, a note from my grandpa, a card from a friend. Truly a book of scraps. My scrappy confession is that I consistently fail at the basics - balance, color theory, "leading the eye". None of this comes naturally to me and sometimes I forget to work at it.

I went a little nuts with PL subscriptions in 2021. I was great about scrapping a weekly spread just about every Saturday. I made it thru October 2021 and haven't scrapped a layout since. I have been crafting, just making cards instead. I do want to get back to finish 2021. But, I won't commit to weekly PL spreads going forward. 2022 will be a mix of PL layouts and single page spreads, but without the pressure of doing a weekly or monthly spread. I've been sucking at taking daily life type photos, but still good about events.

Okay, here goes...deep breath.
I don't like Tim Holtz or his business partner. I think they are both buttheads. And his dies are ugly and weird. And things made with them are like...creepy, and ugly and strange. Sorry, not sorry.

Forgive me Father, for I don't like wood veneer or wood pattern paper. I don't care for Maggie Holmes's style. I can't stand Ali's handwriting. Tim Holtz is too grungy for me, but I do like his paper trimmer and inks. Big confession: I buy way more than I use! Haha, I'm sure many can relate to that. My husband is very supportive of my hobby, but I still cringe whenever multiple packages get delivered in one day. As if he wouldn't be aware...he's the one who cuts up all the packaging to put in the recycle bin. Also, I'm addicted to border punches.

Fun thread 1. I decided to jump back into PL after years and I’ve likely over indexed on subscriptions for 2022. 2. The only useful Tim Holtz products I’ve ever bought were distress oxide inks, a few metal word embellies and word stickers in black and white. I don’t follow him on line for reasons already stated. 3. I have a purchase history of getting interested in a new product and then losing my mind buying all of it. Examples: MM paints, distress oxide, shaker box sequins, etc. it’s a problem I am not quite willing to address other than now I try to only buy if I know I will use it. Oxide inks have been easy to use so of course I keep buying them. 4. I can get very committed to finding a hard to find product after seeing some one use it on line and falling in love with it. I have a stamp right now that retired in 2015 that I keep looking for on eBay. It’s kind of silly but I’m guessing it’s the thrill of the hunt.

I can't imagine why anyone (family or not) would think it's OK to just take a layout out of someone else's scrapbook and never say anything. But to tell the truth, I'd take my Christmas scrapbooks to our family Christmas gathering each year and it never occurred to me that someone might take a page out of it. Your scrapbooks are your treasures and I think people should respect that.

My turn:
I don't understand on line crops. Do you turn the camera on yourself, or your project? Isn't that distracting if you are trying to create? Then, I would be expected to try and work on a project AND talk to people?
Alot of people have ALOT of stuff. I've been stunned by pictures. Some rooms look like they have more product than a Joann section on scrapbooking.
I don't understand metal dies. If I have a metal die, I have to buy some sort of another machine to process the die thru the machine?

If you get a big shot, you can use wafer thin dies and bigger, thicker dies. The point of having them is to be able to customize that item to suit your needs. Need white letters but don't ha e stickers or want to buy 3 or 4 packs? Get white paper and make your word/title as many times as needed. Want a purple butterfly? Make it.

Another because it happened again...
If you sound like you'd rather poke your eyes out with a stick that is on fire than create a YouTube video...take that as tour cue and stop.
I don't need to hear you breathe hard or clean your throat or talk in a monotone voice or sign every other word/sentence or act like choosing a darn card is life altering work.
Tried another PL scrapper today and holy wow...
My unpopular opinion is that not everyone is cut out to be a creator on YT.

I LIKE PIIIIIIIINNNKKKK!Now, that that's off my chest, I also never understood the craze over Ali's handwriting. Maybe in small doses but I don't want someone else's personality to dominate my layouts. Also, I shopped a lot during the pandemic. Like a lot of shopping just out of boredom. Now I'm kind of burned out on shopping. I wonder when I'll get my shopping mojo back. But, until then I have a lot of stuff to keep me going.
