Confession: I have an entire cart full of mixed media supplies. I think it was a phase. I have no time for it now and I feel terrible that it will just sit there and go to waste.

Ooo, I can relate to many of these! (cough *Tim Holtz* cough)
I love enamel dots but I'm almost always too cheap to buy them--so I keep stretching the same few I have. Why are these so expensive? Esp. when the "big" ones are hard (IMO) to use? Someone, just make a big sheet of these in all the most used colors and sell for like $10 so we don't have to keep buying them!
I HATE journaling. I would love to have journaling on my pages but I feel like it uses the other side of my brain, and don't feel like switching to, when scrapbooking. I have decided it's fine if I don't, even though someday that journaling will be missed. Oh well. I hate it that much.
I'm worried that the companies who try to keep moving forward with modern, new designs will stop making those in lieu of the "best sellers" of classic themes (due to needing to make a profit.) I wish there was a company like Archivers still around that could help show a larger group younger people how they can use scrapbook supplies--for whatever use--junk journals, travel journals, planners, mini books, anything. AC just isn't that company.
Oh, and, as someone else said, I rarely go to NSBR for all the reasons you might guess. So I do honestly apologize if I miss posts about personal events for any of you, and was absent in sending support, condolences, etc.

Love this thread!
1. I wish there was more red in scrapbooking lines. I love pink too but more red please and not just at Christmas. 2. I was never an October Afternoon fan. I very rarely like anything vintage for myself. I loved Basic Grey back in the day but now I find them a bit grungy and dated. I’ve let anything I still had go. 3. I still love Ali’s classes/projects like OLW but I am over her handwriting and an over abundance of words/phrases on my pages that isn’t my own journaling. I don’t like it from any of the lines. Also, there are hundreds of thousands of words in the world so using the same phrases over and over drives me bananas. Feels lazy. I get the need to be universal but it's time to switch things up. 4. I rebel against doing things the way they are supposed to be done so I have a hard time with classes that project based, even if it’s so I can learn a technique. I took a class at Art & Soul Portland several years ago and a teacher was so offended I didn’t “copy” her project. No thanks. 5. A big part of me wants to switch to all digital and ditch my paper supplies but I’m too scared to make the leap. I think I'd miss the tactile feeling of creating and the shopping. 6. Digital designers feel more on trend/cutting edge to me and I wish more would get physical product lines. 7. If I’ve had it more than a year, chances are I won’t use it and I need to just toss/give it away. A lot of times I do.

- I love pink
- I cannot/do not use any of AEs monthly kits. Totally unusable for me. But I use every last bit of her DD and WITL releases. Those are 2 of my favorite projects.
- I almost never go back and look at my scrapbooks. It’s the process that’s important to me.
- I don’t like Jennifer McGuire and find her cards silly and juvenile.
- spending a fortune on junk journaling the last few months. It’s been the BEST therapy and self care (despise that term). Most of my supplies have come from Ali Express, which I hate. But I make sure I’m not buying knockoffs of other peoples designs. And I do judge people who knowingly buy the knockoffs. .

Unpopular opinions: - I hate plastic page protectors, especially the thick, good quality ones. I have grown to hate pocket pages too. I understand them, but I hate using them. - I dislike a lot of the albums I've made and don't look at them very much. I'm redoing some of them as photo books, and I'm considering whether I might just toss one or both of my 6x8 PL albums. - I never really liked PL filler cards. I never wanted to sacrifice a pocket that could hold a photo or story to someone else's words or design. - I love the idea of Geralyn/IACB's journaling cards but I found them really hard to use, especially with handwriting. - I dislike typed journaling on lined cards where the lines don't line up with the typing. Personally I would erase or cover the lines if I couldn't get the typing to track. - I don't like D-ring binder albums either. I don't like the big gap between the 2 sides and I don't like how big they are. 12x12 binders are the worst. - I always disliked the layouts I saw in scrapbooking magazines back in the 2000s. (sorry) We like what we like! I'm curious, do you use page protectors or just put pages in albums? Or, do you just use the protectors? I have stopped making pages to go in binders at this point. I either stick things into small notebooks or make photo books. But I do still have some albums with page protectors. I am dismembering some to make into photo books. The post bound albums with pp I can live with, for now. They're mostly very thin plastic and I only have a handful.

scrappyem I did digital books for 2011-2014. And I missed the paper too. Which is a real struggle for me due to environmental concerns.

I love the look of glitter/texture paste with stencils but I hate, hate, HATE cleaning paste off stencils so much that I would totally throw them away after using them if it weren't so irresponsible and expensive to do so! Instead, I just never use my pastes or stencils! Foolproof strategy, right? Maybe you could find cover-plate dies of the kinds of patterns you like, then make paper stencils with them. Then, you can throw them out when you've used them. HTH

Instead, I just never use my pastes or stencils! Foolproof strategy, right? Same. For Valentine's Day I cut a bunch of random sized hearts out of Neenah 110# cardstock with my Silhouette. I tossed the hearts, but used the negative space as a stencil. Purple, Red Pink ink in a diagonal pattern on my card fronts, then went back and added clear Nuvo Glimmer Paste using the same "stencil" so the hearts were sparkly. Amazingly they turned out exactly how I pictured them in my head. And, I used the stencil to make one additional card since it was inked and sparkly. Of course I forgot to take a photo because I was sending them late.

Maybe a long winded 2 page teensy font typed story about adopting my cat would have been better than "Kingsley looked like an alien when I got him and the markings on his face are in the shape of a penis. I love him." lmaooo

Great thread! It’s been fun to see all the responses.
I’m not and never have been a fan of celebrities of any kind, including papercrafting celebs. I especially dislike grunge. Tim Holtz is talented, but not my style.
I don’t like one photo pages, especially when the only photo is small and hard to notice among all the embellishments and mixed media.
I don’t like messy stuff like texture paste, ink sprays, etc. It’s just not my thhing.
I don’t shop Ali Express. I have bought a couple of dies off Amazon when I couldn’t get the original, and they were smaller, as well as cheaply made. Never again.
I hate loose glitter, but I occasionally use Stickles and/or Wink of Stella.
I don’t use Washi, or metal or wood embellishments.
I love stamps, but I hate to color. I’ll color my stamped images, but I hate coloring.
I also hate to journal. Like coloring, I will make myself do it, but I procrastinate doing it.
I don’t like noise when I’m scrapbooking, not even music. I don’t get much done at crops, online or off. I rarely go to crops for that reason. I’ll usually go if invited, but I am ADD, talk too much, and am rarely happy with what little that I do get done.
I love photos. I usually put 5 to 7 on a page, and I mat every one. I even mat my journaling. When I can make myself do journaling.
I have too many stamps to count, and a paper stash that is ridiculous. I love dies and electronic cutters. However, I don’t drink, smoke, rarely eat out or vacation, so this is my vice. And I LOVE LOTS OF OPTIONS!
When I do journaling, sometimes I like to make it hidden or interactive.
I’m slow. Probably because I stamp, cut, make my own flowers, embellishments, etc.
I love fonts. Again, it’s nice to have loads of options. Kind of like scrapping at the LSS.
My colors absolutely have to match or coordinate with my photos. I make my own flowers so that they are the right color if they are going on a page layout.
I don’t glue anything down till I am happy with the layout.
I love making mini albums, but rarely put photos in them.
I like short YouTube videos. Get to the point. Don’t ramble or waste my time. I don’t care if you are a celeb.

Just thought of another confession(s) - I have Full Set Syndrome.
If a new Distress Color comes out I have to have it....
I've started collecting the PinkFresh Mini ink cubes. I don't need them all but I feel the urge to have them all.
It's a sickness.....
Also - I don't really care about story telling/curating the perfect story either.
AND I'm not a pink fan. Give me all the oranges/corals/blues and autumn colors instead!

I crave a smaller more manageable stash.
I repeatedly fail to realize just how far one sheet of paper can stretch, so over the course of my scrappy hobby I have bought more paper than I will use in this lifetime. Some of it is very ugly. I am currently pricing stuff to sell in a garage sale at my LSS. I'm pricing it all to go because I just don't want this much stuff anymore. I'm actually embarrassed by how much I have. Realizing how much money I spent on all of this stuff makes me feel a bit ill, but I just want it gone. To be honest, I could probably sell five times as much stuff and still have a big stash.

Ok here goes...
I like the TH line of distress inks, oxides, sprays, papers, alcohol inks, etc. I don't like distress, or grunge, or all the layers upon layers of stuff, but I do like learning new techniques and his line is perfect for that.
I dislike watching YT's over 15 minutes. If the thumbnail is a technique or a card I'm interested in I will hop through it. I can't watch crafters with one fingernail painted differently. It's too distracting. Same with long nails. Only rarely does an original idea come out of my craft room.
I really don't send that many cards. I wait until I have 100 or so and donate them.
I use the affiliate links.
I do not like pink, teal or white. Sorry.

I love gnomes. Give me all the Tulla and Norbert! I just talked about buying two of Photoplay’s Tulla and Norbert’s Disney line. Yes! I want it!!! I also still love inking layers. Ink all the things! I love pink and aqua. They don’t bother me showing up everywhere. ENABLER - Have you seen these adorable gnome stamps. They are nearly 6 inches tall. Gerome the Gnome Joan the Gnome and I believe they have two more but couldn't find them on the website.

Since Covid times I've been spending the money we used to spend on going out to dinner and travel on scrap supplies and virtual classes.
I actually enjoy staying home and scrapping much more than going to weekend crops. I do miss my scrapping friends but all the planning, packing and hauling is too much. Let's just hang out for a few hours instead of moving all our stuff because I ALWAYS overpack and it's too stressful.
I own stickers, paper, ribbons, and metals that are over 20 years old.
I've been building a collection of tools and mixed media that I'm really enjoying learning to use. I never thought I needed a manual diecutter but I recently got one and I love it - so easy to use!
I rarely use my Cricut - I'm not much for planning ahead and I don't need to make things to sell or gift. Weeding is ridiculous - I don't have time for that! I finally cancelled my Design Studio subscription and plan on spending that money on other scrap items.
I still am not much of a stamper - seems like a lot of work and expense and my efforts never look nice enough. I have collected quite a few stamps as prizes or giveaways, but I can't see myself buying many. I'll dig through my embellishments for stickers or ephemera instead. Pre made titles are the best.
I refuse to buy expensive markers for coloring because I know I will never use them or like the results.
I generally search online for the best price or sale for stuff I want - I hate paying full price for anything. Even on products I love! I used to buy so much stuff just because it was on sale - $1 packs of bling, 3 for $10 paper packs, they got me every time!
I've been requesting specific items for my craft room for Christmas, birthday and mothers day gifts - it's a great way to get items I'm too cheap to buy myself.
I was actually happy each time we had a snowstorm on a weekend so I could use the weather as an excuse to hang out all day in the scrap room!
I used to hate fussy cutting but I love the results!
I rarely or never make cards because I hate the thought of someone throwing them away.
I hate it when someone calls me to chat when I'm in the middle of scrapping - sometimes I ignore the call.

oh I just remembered - I also hate journaling and often forget to leave space on a page for journaling - which is funny because I used to be a journalist. I will usually just jot down the basics, Name, date, place and simple description.
I really, really hate my own handwriting so anytime I can find stickers or word blocks to express the thoughts I use them.

I remember years ago on YouTube the thumbnail would be the finished layout, card, project, etc. Same with Pinterest. Then it became a thing to show a weird angle photo, cropped in of the layout, card, etc. I hated that! I don't need to scroll a 20 page blog post or wait for the finaly 2 seconds on a vlog to see the final product so I can take a screen shot or save the photo. I mean I get it...money. But come on...

Sometimes Journaling comes easy. Sometimes it's a quick sentence or two. Other times it's hard to find the words so I leave the area or card insert blank.

I do really like them, but now that my room is 28 steps downstairs, I am not in it nearly as much as when it was a step across the hallway.

So you're saying you don't write "inspired by Kristina Werner" on the back of the cards you give away? Kidding. I totally agree with you. I doubt anyone in my immediate family really needs to know that I copy cards sometimes, although I don't hide it. I don't pass myself off as anything other than someone who likes to make cards. I don't pretend I'm a designer, completely original, have a studio vs a craft room, or anything else. I'm using product that someone else designed, it's not like I painted everything myself from scratch anyway. pea Christmas card swap the year that drama came out, I copied her card EXACTLY and made 10 cards to send during the swap. Was the drama about copying cards? And was Kristina Werner involved? I just picked a name, I had no idea there was drama surrounding it!

odd size albums like 9x12. I scrap 8.5x11 - what's up with that extra half inch or so? This came about from using pocket pages and PL type supplies - 3x4" and 4x6" photos and cards can be combined without trimming in a 9x12" pocket page layout. A letter sized pocket page required a lot of trimming (I tried it one year and it was such a hassle). Totally different if you're making layouts. *Not saying you shouldn't have it on your no-thanks list, just explaining why some people fought so hard for it.

my confessions:
-i could never go to a crop because i feel like no matter how much stuff i bring, i will always be missing something. since i'm not the best at sharing, i hate the thought of borrowing.
-i don't journal. i feel like there is a cheesy or self involved element to it that i'm not comfortable with. i could never go back and read what i wrote so i don't write in the first place.
-i get the same joy out of buying something as i do using it.

I just picked a name, I had no idea there was drama surrounding it! Oh yeah. She has had a few hissy fits over the years about people "copying" her cards from the **video tutorials of how to make cards she posts on the internet** - who could've guessed that people would follow along and make the same cards?! Apparently we're only supposed to get inspiration from them and/or we're supposed to credit her on our cards we send to friends and family, as if they would know who KW is or care.

I spend an insane amount of time thinking about my journaling, writing it and editing it.It doesn't have to be long, but I need people to know why I chose these moments or pictures to scrap. Personal preference, of course.
I have lots of AE kits and I haven't used any. Probably because the pockets cards are much too specific for me.
I like pretty much all colors in scrapbooking, except neon.
Embossing powders are too messy for me. I don't want to use them. Well, except at Christmas 😉 (but I still don't)

I operate in a NO glitter zone. YES! OMG. I enjoyed doing the Pea Xmas card swap but the glitter was the worst! If I could hear the glitter crackling before I opened the envelope I would just peek inside and wouldn't even take the card out if it was as bad as it sounded. I still have glitter showing up in my house because of those cards. I hates it.
