Just thought of another confession(s) - I have Full Set Syndrome. Ugh, me too, especially with inks. It's a problem. I bought a few PinkFresh pads and now want them all - I'm resisting because I just bought the newest Stamp Market inks (she came out with 11 more last week) to complete that set. I love the Oxides and have them all, too. Logically I know I have enough, but I love colour and they are all so pretty. Another unpopular opinion (maybe) - I love Jennifer McGuire's videos and think they are very professionally done. She has a true engineering brain and comes up with very original ideas. However, she personally annoys me. I took a class from her about a decade ago and she was just lovely in person, nothing but nice. But the entire Kindness campaign really bugs me. I would never send a card that says "Be Kind" because I find it insulting, and don't understand why a store would even sell that die (SSS). I guess I feel like it's just virtue signalling and that the people who are talking about kindness the most are probably the least likely to be kind in person. It's like people calling themselves cool or funny or whatever - if you have to tell people you are, you probably aren't.

Was the drama about copying cards? And was Kristina Werner involved? I just picked a name, I had no idea there was drama surrounding it! Oh yeah. She has had a few hissy fits over the years about people "copying" her cards from the **video tutorials of how to make cards she posts on the internet** - who could've guessed that people would follow along and make the same cards?! Apparently we're only supposed to get inspiration from them and/or we're supposed to credit her on our cards we send to friends and family, as if they would know who KW is or care. Oh, I kind of remember that now that you mention it. I thought maybe she specifically was involved in the card swap. I would never copy a card and post it online and pass it off as my own, but cards I give to family and friends - yeah, I'll copy, and I won't mention from who because not a single person in my life even realizes there are professional card designers out there. They would laugh.

Okay, I'm actually not as weird with my scrapbooking as I originally thought I was after reading this thread. I do not like the Tim Holtz grungy look. It just looks like I dropped my paper in a mud puddle...I do like those tiny word stickers/phrases though... I am never in the loop for all the latest, greatest scrappy things whether it be products, classes, techniques, or whatever. Sometimes I feel like I live in a cave. However; I do like pink. And glitter. The chatty youtube scrappers make me want to stab my eardrums. I know it's my choice to click that stop button but sometimes the title of the video sucks me in. I know a lot of people like to scrap with the video in the background but they distract me. Which is a perfect segue to the next thing I don't like, lol. I loathe anything clickbait. I hate when the title says come see my new crafty item/room/idea but then your video is 20 minutes of bitching about your dog/kids/husband/life in general and I don't stick around to see what you made cause you've already worn me out. I'm kind of tired of all the things looking like the same things over and over, but if you'd ask me what I wanted to see I couldn't really say. Just not the same things.

OK, well, these might be very controversial and unpopular opinions, but all is fair in this thread - right?
- I don't like Shimelle. I don't like her personally, and I don't like her style. I did buy Journal Your Christmas, and I do enjoy it. And I bought one of her paper pads, which I also like, but that's about it.
- I think that Kristina Werner, Tim Holtz, Jennifer McGuire, Cathy Zielske, and some other "celebrities," need to get over themselves.
- I'm tired of everything rainbow. I love rainbows, but it seems like they are everywhere. I've actually stopped following some YouTube accounts because of rainbow overload.
- Believe it or not, I know how to be kind without having some "celebrity" tell me that I must. Oh, and I don't need a stamp set or scrapbooking collection to tell someone that I think they matter.
- I would like to see more lines with kids who have special needs. My son (now 27) has Asperger's Syndrome, and my daughter (now 22) has ADD. Not every day was "the best day ever," and not all of their school experiences involved awards and medals. Some days just plain sucked.
- I don't feel that it's necessary to give "credit" to designers and companies when I use their ideas or products. If you don't want us to use ideas and products, don't share or sell them. I would never enter any contests and claim that a design was my own. I would never sell stamped images. But I think that the ridiculous "angel policies" of some companies are unenforceable and unreasonable. One of the reasons that I quit being a Stampin' Up demo many years ago was that they encouraged us to rat out other demos who were making cards and selling them without giving SU credit for every stamp they used. I am not a rat, nor am I the SU police.
- I don't think there are any rules for scrapbooking, stamping, mixed media, or any other creative activity. Everyone is creative in their own way, and that needs to be encouraged and supported.
Wow, this felt good! Thanks for starting this thread!

Even though I only scrapbook for myself, after viewing the list of deceased classmates at my 20 year high school reunion, I suddenly thought "what if someone decides to display these at my funeral without looking through them first?" My scrapbooks serve as photographic journals and though I like journaling when I have a story to tell, I don't take the "best day ever" approach. For instance, the layout from my senior prom used to be entitled "I've had a lovely evening, but this wasn't it" (a quote from an obscure 1930's movie) with details elaborating why until I decided to redo it.
Now, if I have something snarky or difficult to say, I write it on the back of the page. No one but I know it's there, but if someone should have enough interest to pull a page out in the future, they will be rewarded with the unabridged story.

I thought of more... I don't care for warmer tones in general but I really dislike fall collections. I actively avoid brown and orange in any project - but to put them together with warmer shades of yellow and green?! Nooooooo!! The closest I've gotten to enjoying a fall collection was Pinkfresh Studio Days of Splendor from 2020. While I didn't buy any directly, I received a few things in a kit club and didn't hate some of it. 99.99% of fall collections are a hard pass for me. With the exception of maybe Christmas, I'm not a themed scrapbooker. I also prefer to not use a single collection on a layout. While I like being matchy-matchy, I prefer to use anything that "goes" regardless of collection, manufacturer, theme etc. Most of my scrapbooking is one page layouts and opposing pages don't coordinate or even match each other. It makes my BFF twitchy, lol. I don't scrapbook chronologically. My albums are chronological-ish (by month/season within an album), and I have multiple years in a single album sometimes, and sometimes only one year in an album. When I put layouts away I often have to move things around a bit.

*whispers*
I like purple and cool toned colours only
*mutters under her breath*
I can’t stand pink, or coral, or warm toned colours, or vintage anything, or pages with more embellishments than photos, or most designs that are in monthly kits, or that everything that is event based is for the USA and not other countries, or that there are SO MANY snowflake designs at Christmas when it’s 99 degrees here, or most sayings on stamp sets, or the lack of papers when I’m scrapping pages about my son, or the price of shipping at the moment (TOTaL RIP OFF), or how messy all the new pretties i order make my scrap room, or that there are no more jolees 3d stickers (the old ones that were actually good like the Disney ones that had material and thread and and and), or that there are not a lot of people that are into the hobby like I am around me, or…

- Shimelle: I don't get inking on every layout.
- Also Shimelle: I like her, but was not a fan of most of her lines, I won't miss any of them.
- Tim Holtz: I like Tim Holtz even if he is not perfect. I like some of his stuff. Not everything. I am not into grungy, but that does not mean I would not enjoy the process. But you can make so many non-grungy things with some of his products.
- Tim Holtz: I have been watching some of his videos recently. I feel like some of his superfans need a lot of hand-holding by the questions he anticipates and answers while he is talking. Literally, some very basic questions.
- Bo Bunny: Blech. I don't get why that is still around.
- Youtubers: If you are too shy to speak up so you can be heard, you don't belong on Youtube!

4. I can get very committed to finding a hard to find product after seeing some one use it on line and falling in love with it. I have a stamp right now that retired in 2015 that I keep looking for on eBay. It’s kind of silly but I’m guessing it’s the thrill of the hunt. Now I kinda want to know which stamp. Here's my confession: after years of buying paper, cardstock, stamps, dies, and a gazillion embellishments, I have come to the realization that my hobby is not papercrafting... it's organizing. Oh, sure, I can make cards and whatnot, but I love the feeling of order after a good day of putting stuff away, even if it is a neverending battle. And breaking out the label maker? Heaven.

SSS has been gone for maybe 5 years :/. I bought a few on eBay and love them but one in particular called basic tabs is impossible to find but is the one I saw on insta that sucked me in to hunting down their products. I’ve got a watch set up on eBay for when ever one gets listed.

- I find gnomes super creepy, but LOVE doodlebug stuff and can use it for any type of photos - I LOVE distress products, it hate most of Tim’s other stuff. I find most of it just creepy and weird - I have FSS bad. I Have to buy every piece of a collection even when I don’t use some of it. - I get annoyed when YouTubers say” you all know how much I love…..” No, I don’t. - I love all colors at different times - I have HUGE guilt over the environmental impact of this hobby. - and It’s sequins, not sequence

With the SS Christmas release I have another (the visual reminded me of this one):
When companies use weird "circles" instead of real circles. I don't like the wobbly circles. I like crisp, clean, perfectly round circles.

I can relate to so much that has already been discussed.
My confession... I hate flowers! All flowers. I can get away from most flowers when looking at scrapbook page inspiration but flowers are on EVERY card. I haven't been tempted to purchase a new stamp release for quite some time.

1. I can't imagine how much I've spent on product over 20 years. Thousands and thousands of dollars. I think of my retirement and that I will really wish I had that money instead of scrapbook supplies. That being said, when I retire I'll have time to use those scrapbook supplies. I hope I live to 150 because it will take that long.
2. I love keeping my scrapbook stuff (kits and collections) in 2 gallon plastic bags. It is so handy to use and so easy to pack for crops. The problem is that I haven't found a good way to store all of those bags. They don't fit neatly into anything but Rubbermaid tubs.
3. My scrapbook supplies take up half of my basement. Not in neat scrapbook furniture. I mean scattered all over the place, including most of the floor. It is a disaster. I guess I'd rather spend my money on supplies than furniture.
4. I love watching Shimelle videos but I'm not a fan of her finished products. I just think I'm better at design than she is. (Ha!) But I love her and I love listening to her so I continue to watch.
5. I'm an art teacher but I'm too lazy to do most mixed media- I deal with mess at school, why do I want to deal with mess at home? I do use ink a lot (stencils and stamps) and I love ink splatter, but the rest isn't for me.
6. I don't journal because 1) I'm lazy, and 2) I think my handwriting ruins the look of the layouts. Then I get sad because I don't remember all of the stories that go with my nephews' baby photos.
7. I almost never put my layouts in albums because 1) I don't like the way they look under plastic, and 2) When I store D-ring albums vertical the pages sag and end up bent. I don't know how other people do that- Is there something I'm missing? So all of my layouts are stored in those 13x13" Iris cases.
8. I miss scrapping stores. I miss scrapping magazines. I miss constant crops. I miss a scrapbook board that moves really fast. I miss tons of scrapbook companies. I still love my hobby but a lot of the fun stuff about it has disappeared.

I've enjoyed reading this thread as I drink my morning coffee. So many YES!'s to different posts.
Here's mine: -I'm never going to let you borrow any of my tools unless you're sitting right in front of me and I can make sure to get it back.
-If you borrow my item and then keep it in your space instead of saying ty and returning it directly to me, I'm judging you negatively. If I have to get up and retrieve that item, you're not going to get to use it again.
-I also have FOMO & will try to hold out until I can't & then must have everything from that line. I hate when I miss out on something. I'll obsessively search for it. I just discovered Feed Your Craft. After they closed. I've only found some digital items.
I am honestly bad about this. When Joann's were clearancing out copics, I went on a road trip just to find as many as I could.
-I had to have a cutting machine & barely use it. So when I do, I always have to reteach myself. I annoy myself so much with this.
-All those photos I cut into cutesy shapes make me cry. I can't even look at those now.

I have attended or virtually attended several scrapbook weekend events but I only end up completing about 1/3 of the projects using the instructor's plans. I generally "do my own thing" because I don't care for some of the design. I use their plans as a starting point then go rogue.
I have probably 10-15 unfinished class projects - usually mini albums that I just don't finish because I don't have photos that work with them. Yes they are cute, but I just don't want to putz around with them.

I just thought of one... I don't like the camera icons. I just don't. I have never used one of those camera chipboard, wood veneer pieces or stickers. Ever. At one point, they were huge and everywhere. I cursed every camera icon thing that would slip into a paper pad, kit or stamp set.

I have a few more:
I hate backing cut files. It is tedious, and glue gets everywhere.
Shimelle: I also don't love a lot of her finished pages, or even her paper lines. I find them hard to use (too cartoony I guess?) Her videos tend to be tedious for me to watch with a lot of inking (and I don't think it looks good when she just splotches ink onto pattern paper) and chatter about mundane things like pumpkin pie.
I hate when people put icons that have nothing to do with the pictures on a page. I watch a youtube who is the worst at this. Literally she put house stickers on page of her daughter white water rafting in a different state. Nothing to do with home or houses!!
On that vein, I hate when it seems like people are just trying to "use up" their products by throwing it all on a page. There's another youtuber who I feel does this a lot. It usually ends up just looking messy. Or, aforementioned youtuber will print a random photo (one she might have already used) in the tiniest size just so she can scrap it again using her latest design team products.
And last one, and this one might deserve it's own spin off thread, lol, is that I am worried that I will end up with too many albums if I continue scrapping at the rate I scrapped this year and I feel the need to slow down and re-assess this hobby. I don't want to have so many that I don't know what to do with them, or they become a burden.

marg yes it was Kristina Werner’s card. I copied it exactly and put a note on the back that it was copied, but I wasn’t including the designer’s name. The entitled/lecturing bitchiness of that particular group just sets my teeth on edge. I’m not a fan of grunge, but can appreciate some of the stuff made with TH stuff. Especially the Christmas stuff. Not a fan of distressed either, so October Afternoon was not a favorite. I do like Steven Duncan’s papers with vintage scenes, but struggle to actually use them. I don’t usually like Shimelle’s finished layouts, but appreciate her design principles and have used those skills in my own layouts. When I read long journaling on a layout, most of it reads like a word salad nothing burger. The AE stuff where you navel gaze your life is just so damn cringy. This stuff should not be public. And nobody ever seems to progress. It’s the same stuff in each project. I believe there are no rules in scrapbooking. And if you want to call what you do scrapbooking, it’s scrapbooking.

This is the best thread ever. Nodding along the whole time. I also agree with not crediting people. 90% of what I make is scrap lifted or inspired by someone. I have dozens of saved photos for future layouts. Not a single one with a name as to who did the original. I’m not selling my work, profiting in any way. I’m not going to credit you. This is the reason I have started a scrappy Instagram account. I don’t need hands slaps from the creative police.
K Werner’s self righteousness is over the top. Her work is beautiful, seriously stunning. But I refuse to watch or support her account.

Fonts should be easy to read whether on a card or journaled.
I hate bouncy modern calligraphy fonts that are hard to read. Or so swoopy that you can't read the word.
I hate words that are broken and stacked (?)

I hate words that are broken and stacked (?) TH AN KS CON GRA ULA ATI ONS yes! especially when they're broken in weird places, not syllable-wise, and/or in places that make other words... HO ME and CHR IST MAS are 2 of the worst. (And the Christmas one that I saw didn't even look nice design-wise because of the shapes of the letters and the way it was split)
